Can a three year old have crisps?

Pleasemrstweedie · 20/07/2023 09:02

Just that.

I'm planning a sandwiches and crisps lunch on Saturday, which will include a three year old.

Is it OK just yo buy a big bag of crisps and share them out?

For complicated reasons, I can't ask his parents, so looking for a general view.

Thanks

Yes

BoohooWoohoo · 20/07/2023 09:04

3 year olds can eat crisps.

Interesting that you can't talk to the parents.I would want to check if there were food allergies or dietary requirements before catering.

Needmorelego · 20/07/2023 09:04

Yes.
I have yet to meet a 3 year old that’s never eaten at least one crisp in their life.

Yes of course a 3 year old can have crisps. Some parents may say no - as they might to sweets/cakes - but they can physically eat them.

BabyStopCryin · 20/07/2023 09:06

Well they can - but the parents might not want them to. Maybe play it safe with something like unsalted Doritos or Naked Tyrol ones.

Needmorelego · 20/07/2023 09:06

@Pleasemrstweedie why are you having people you can’t talk to round for lunch?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 20/07/2023 09:06

Yes of course

Weloveflowerss · 20/07/2023 09:06

I’ve fed my daughter crisps since she was about one

PerspiringElizabeth · 20/07/2023 09:06

Yes. But I’m going to wager this 3 year old’s parents will be in the No camp.

sandyhappypeople · 20/07/2023 09:07

Depends on the parents, our 2.5 year old has crisps, but we tend to buy toddler crisps in bulk (eat real kids - that’s the brand not advice!) because they are less salty than normal crisps.

id personally stay away from walkers style crisps for kiddo, so if you’re buying normal crisps go for something like wotsits/cheesy puffs and let the parents dish up for their child, so they get to decide if and how much they give them.

OP asked about crisps and explained why they were asking. It’s about crisps!

GigiAnnna · 20/07/2023 09:10

I'd get something like Quavers, Skips or Wotsits rather than normal crisps for the child.

Needmorelego · 20/07/2023 09:17

@jays valid point.
Just seems a bit odd. Can’t ask the parents for “complicated reasons “ but having them round for lunch.
Anyway…..not my business so apologies @Pleasemrstweedie for being nosy.
Don’t get Wotsits or Cheese Doritos or your entire home will be covered with orange finger prints.

This.

BIL once gave DS a Kettle crisp when he was 2ish and the sharp edges cut his mouth.

My 2 year old loves monster munch Blush

Pleasemrstweedie · 20/07/2023 09:20

@Needmorelego, like I say, it's complicated.

Thanks for the tips. That helps.

@Needmorelego now that is also a valid point, I can’t say I wasn’t interested myself. My apologies for being snarky about your nosiness, I’m all for nosiness, I get it confused with people being goady on here , nowt wrong with noisiness! X

Pombears

TheModHatter · 20/07/2023 09:23

I would also provide some carrot and cucumber sticks, and cherry tomatoes.

Personally I would just provide whatever crisps you wanted to.

Bright orange highly flavoured stuff is attractive to 3 year olds and I never bought it. A Few plain crisps aren’t as eye catching, have fewer additives and as a pp said, no orange finger prints anywhere.

ShirleyPhallus · 20/07/2023 09:23

I’d love to know more about the crisp politics!

Pleasemrstweedie · 20/07/2023 09:24

You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your DH's family! Say no more.

If be worried about catering for anyone I couldn’t ask if they had any dietary requirements. They could have an allergy to anything.

Needmorelego · 20/07/2023 09:25

@Pleasemrstweedie apologies again for being nosy.
Hope it goes ok 🙂

liveforsummer · 20/07/2023 09:28

Presumably if the dc has a serious allergy that the present know OP isn't aware of they will bring some suitable food. I'd probably provide both grown up and child friendly crisps as not all 3 year olds are given traditional crunchy crisps

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 20/07/2023 09:34

My almost two year old loves Skips at the moment.

I don't tend to give him the standard potato crisps, but he has stolen some from his brother with no issues.
