Can a three year old have crisps?

Just that.

I'm planning a sandwiches and crisps lunch on Saturday, which will include a three year old.

Is it OK just yo buy a big bag of crisps and share them out?

For complicated reasons, I can't ask his parents, so looking for a general view.

I love skips but they are highly processed, fake flavoured rubbish 😆

I definitely can, but I don't give mine a full bag, just a small handful on the plate along with other bits.

I'm sure the PP was referring to the 18 ingredients in the highly processed skips in comparison to the 3 in a bag of ready salted crisps.
It's not difficult to understand that something as processed as a skip or a quaver will not be as good nutritional as a potato that has been sliced fried and salted.
The pom bears that everyone on here give as the healthy option have just as much salt per 100g as walkers salted crisps and again are highly processed with 10 separate ingredients.

I get it, but its ONE snack. As part of a balanced meal, I dont know if its a hill I would die on tbh.

Never said it was horrifying, just pointing out theat so many people think that pombears and the like are the healthy option for kids when the actual real crisp would be the better nutritional choice

That's marketing for you I guess. The same way that cereal bars, kids 'snacks' etc have the same amount of sugar as an actual chocolate bar. It was a great moment when I realised I didn't have to spend three quid on a bunch of toddler oaty bars and a rich tea biscuit did the same thing.....

At the front of Tesco, they had massive bags of French Fries on offer. My toddler demanded we get some, and I can confirm, he loved them.

Regular crisps are absolutely fine for a 3yo.

Glad DH is sorting, I take the same view these days. If his relatives are fussy, he can sort them.

Being higher in salt and fat does not make it worse, that’s fine if it’s part of a balanced diet what makes it worse are the ingredients.

You misunderstand nutrition for children. Your comparison shows that skips are higher in sugar so unless the 3 year old needs to be on a calorie or fat restricted diet, I think the less processed ready salted crisps would be more " healthy,"

You need to find out if there are any allergies. A 3 year old will not be able to tell you. If you can't speak to the parents, you will need to speak to someone who will know this information. Grandparents, aunts, uncles etc.

😂yes they can. Parents may object for reasons such as health or allergies. They may just rather they didn't have crisps! But in general a 3 year old can ear crisps.

Yes they can. I would probably avoid Kettle Chips and similar for this age as they can be a bit sharp (I've cut my mouth before eating them!) but anything softer would be fine. You can't go wrong with a PomBear for preschoolers!
