Just had someone offer £1.75 for an item that was £3. Then when I declined she asked -do you have a counter?

WTF? Is it that important to save 50p?

I’d literally rather take it to charity shop.

Then do that.

cocksstrideintheevening · 19/07/2023 20:25

Is it that important to you to hold out for 50p extra?

HundredMilesAnHour · 19/07/2023 20:26

I'd counter £3, and then take it to the charity shop.

To be honest, my time is worth more than £3. I wouldn't bother selling anything for less than £20. But that's just me. 😂

Thegoodthieves · 19/07/2023 20:26

I’ve just spent half an hour driving to various different drop boxes for yodel/ evri/one post. So much faff for a few quid. I’d have been better off doing 1/2 an hour of overtime!

User538765 · 19/07/2023 20:26

It's not worth listing something if you are only going to get £1.75

Yes because it’s worth £30 and worn once. Clearly 10% of the original price wasn’t cheap enough.

underneaththeash · 19/07/2023 20:27

I never discount anything and just decline offers.
If they want it they usually just pay the full price.

User538765 · 19/07/2023 20:28

I also wouldn't bother for under £20, just put it in the charity bin at the supermarket

Usually I don’t do that low but I was uploading a bunch of things, so thought why not. Obviously lesson learned!

Yeah, plenty of cfs on Vinted, but just decline and don't respond, and they'll give up. If it's a popular item, then someone else will be willing to pay the price you've asked for.

fredasfrock · 21/07/2023 22:36

It's the done thing to counter offer.

fredasfrock · 21/07/2023 22:37

What were you selling?

User63847484848 · 21/07/2023 22:46

Yes on vinted i don’t bother for less than £3 minimum and normally £4-6. Just not worth it otherwise.
those small sales do all add up though

mcmooberry · 21/07/2023 23:01

I agree with you. I list things really cheaply and won't entertain offers and nor do I make any offers. I either pay up or move on. So annoying that you can't opt out of the offers option.

xsquared · 21/07/2023 23:23

fredasfrock · 21/07/2023 22:36

It's the done thing to counter offer.

It's optional.

fredasfrock · 21/07/2023 23:28

'The done thing' doesn't mean compulsory

I didn't suggest it was. In fact your reply was exactly what I meant.

I suppose I should have added "but" before my post.

fredasfrock · 21/07/2023 23:50

In that case glad to have been of assistance. Hmm

Dear me!

This is why I state Royal Mail only.

playgroundwarrior · 21/07/2023 23:58

But the buyer wouldnt actually be paying £3. If you add buyer protection and postage it'll be at least £6.

which could be a lot for something you haven't tried on, can't return and might end up as clutter on your hands.

everything has a market value and sometimes it's 1.75!

EmeraldFox · 21/07/2023 23:58

It's worth what someone is willing to pay. Remember they are paying a fee and postage too. If you are sure it will sell for £3 then just decline and don't respond. Offers are common though, I've been given offers as a buyer when I have just saved an item to favourites.

xsquared · 21/07/2023 23:59

And Hmm to you too.

emmapeel99 · 22/07/2023 00:00

I always list things for more than I want to sell them for and just presumed others did as well, which is why I usually make an offer for anything I am buying on Vinted, FB etc.
Judging by this thread that is obviously not always the case.

MinnieTruck · 22/07/2023 00:02

What’s the point in selling something for £3? I’ve never sold anything on Vinted which cost less than £10. It doesn’t seem worth it

I save up all the £1-£2 sales, and then use them towards purchases. However I live next door to an InPost locker!
