No, you haven't. You've had an observation that he has frequently been embroiled in acrimonious litigation. This is a demonstrable fact.

Caroline Flack's former fiancé was charged with criminal offences against Dan Wootton - again you are implying that Wootton is at fault in this case.

Wootton is now claiming another would-be harasser is out to destroy his life; a harasser who just coincidentally is hammering Wootton with a similar set of claims to those Flack's fiancé made, albeit the Judge found against him.

Not really similar;
Brady accused Mr Wootton of being a sex offender and a murderer

You are implying that Wootton was 'lucky' the matter went his way - but Brady pleaded guilty to harassing Wootton;

Brady, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of harassment at Sheffield crown court in relation to the messages. He will be sentenced on Friday for the offence, which carries a maximum prison term of six months.
He had originally pleaded not guilty to a more serious charge of putting Wootton in fear of violence. That case was set for a week-long trial before Christmas only for it to be abandoned on the first day due to legal issues prompted by Brady’s behaviour in court, which resulted in the former reality TV contestant spending Christmas in prison on remand.
Prosecutor Laura Marshall told the court that Wootton had been consulted about Brady’s decision to plead guilty to a less serious charge of harassment, bringing the legal proceedings to an end. She said the GB News presenter “simply wants the course of conduct to end”.

And this message clearly indicates that Wootton and Caroline Flack had a close relationship (CPS evidence obviously);
The court was read a message sent to Mr Wootton by Miss Flack which said of Brady: “He is scary, Dan. Still scares me even when he’s in Australia.”

Then there's a growing list of names testifying to his relentless harassment of them, one of whom coincidentally mentions the name of Flack in the same context as her own experience.

Lily Allen mentions Caroline Flack in a wider context - not specific to Dan Wootton;

Peaches Geldof, Amy Winehouse and Caroline Flack...
... it was the culture back then

tik tok tik tok ..... looking like Wooton may well be on his own in this whereas Byline Times will have thousands behind them to crowdfund if necessary. I'd be good for 50 quid if they get the begging bowl out.

CarlosAlcaraz · 24/07/2023 11:39

@vera99 I think they have got a go fund me on the go .

newnamethanks · 24/07/2023 19:09

Oh Danny boy, find yourself a No Win No Fee lawyer. What? No takers for a stand up guy like you? How can that be?

CarlosAlcaraz · 24/07/2023 21:04

Where's part 3 ? They said it would be released today.

It's out now. I'm not sure how to link it and I'm just about to read it.....

CarlosAlcaraz · 24/07/2023 21:30

Just seen it .

Thank you Vera99.

Once again, no evidence that Wootton is Martin Branning and the person in this story only came to believe it was Wootton after reading Byline News.

If all these stories are true then Byline News is doing the victims a huge disservice with this thin reporting. Three years of investigation should be better than this.

freecomsanex · 25/07/2023 02:30

I think it’s probably because he’s spent his professional life outing people for far less and ruining careers. Vast hypocrisy and assuming have Byline have receipts.

Anxioys · 25/07/2023 07:14

Can someone elucidate a bit on this? I assume that Byline would have quite a bit of evidence to avoid libel, but the degree of depth in the article is up to them. Those of us who are expecting a smoking gun style story are expecting too much?

Roussette · 25/07/2023 07:31

Surely a 'news presenter' engaging in extortion and blackmail is the story and it depends what the police do with it.

CarlosAlcaraz · 25/07/2023 07:38

BT must have concrete evidence, only an idiot would risk a huge lawsuit, unless BT have the backing of someone seriously wealthy who wants to bring DW down but then why the crowd funding? That could be a smokescreen I guess.

User135644 · 25/07/2023 07:41

He's one of the most sanctimonious people you could meet.

Like so many right wingers it's do as I say and not as I do.

hollyblueivy · 25/07/2023 08:06

Is he still on tv or is he suspended / taking a break?

Is he in hiding or still going about his usual life / social media activities?

I kind of feel like it's all so far fetched that there must be some truth in it. How random would that be to make something like this up.

CarlosAlcaraz · 25/07/2023 08:13

@hollyblueivy yes he's still broadcasting, I think BT published their latest article while he was on air, maybe so he could see it during a break to rattle him.

vera99 · 25/07/2023 08:50

Wooton and the rest of his ilk have a lot of wealthy financial backers in principle behind them and their organisations that act as conduits for their interests/businesses that push a right wing/ anti woke / culture wars narrative. The defenestration of him doesn't serve their interests whereas Hugh Edwards/BBC most certainly did. News International have made a statement that an internal review is underway and will no doubt be gauging is this story leaking out of the fringe and/or is Wootton holding up and up for a fight. So for now it looks like it will have to go to the line of the lawyers showing their hands in more detail and what physical evidence over and above sworn affidavits do they have. Byline know the power and wealth of the organisations they are taking aim at so I remain convinced that they can back up their articles with proof when necessary.

Part 4 is coming out tomorrow

LizzieSiddal · 25/07/2023 17:44

Wow it is getting serious. Good for that committee.

Having read part three of this story, I cannot see how ByLines would print it if they didn’t have a huge amount of evidence. I’m glad it’s not going to get swept under the carpet.

The Sun says it has appointed law firm Kingsley Napley, which describes itself as the "go-to firm for white collar crime", to help investigate the allegations against its former employee Dan Wootton.

Bet Victoria was overjoyed to get that letter.

Tl/dr it basically says ‘what the fuck are you playing at?’
