What’s everyone’s plans for the summer holidays?

we will be doing some day trips.

I work a couple of days a week so the kids will have too much screen time those days.
We've got a caravan in Powys and have got two separate weeks there and will probably do two or 3 weekends too.

I'll probably have their friends here a few times and they'll go off to play at theirs some days.

I find the holidays go so quickly

SomethingNastyInTheGenePool · 16/07/2023 20:49

Sitting in a darkened room and rocking.

Natsku · 16/07/2023 20:55

Ours are almost over already. We've had one day trip and we're going away for one night to an amusement park last week of July but otherwise nothing special. Just hanging out at home, going to the park or library or the market, swimming in the lake, bike rides and walks. Tomorrow we'll probably go pick bilberries in the forest and DS will play with the neighbours grandson and DD will sleep all day as she's been doing most days since the beginning of June Grin

Sitting in a darkened room and rocking.

Sorry but that made laugh 😃

RabbitsRock · 16/07/2023 20:57

DD14 is out of school so the holidays don’t seem any different to our normal days.

tracylamont13 · 16/07/2023 20:58

Hubby and I are both working. We got a 15 year old. We're planning one of two trips a week after work (cinema, escape room, bowling etc) and we will drop him at friends houses during the day as he wants to. We're self employed and work near home so be quite flexible in terms of lifts etc. He also comes to work with us sometimes to earn some extra cash.

pictoosh · 16/07/2023 21:03

We had a sunshine and showers week-long caravan family holiday beside a peaceful beach in Dumfries and Galloway, which was really good.
I'm off solo camping tomorrow as there is some cycling I want to do up north...only two nights but I'm really looking forward to it.
Going to take dd camping for a couple of nights the week after...ropeworks and cycling at Aviemore. Just the two of us.
Dh and I are wild camping and hillwalking waaay up north in the first week of August.
Will be camping and mountain biking with ds2 in the last week before we all have to go back to school.
All very cheap and cheerful but it will keep me busy and happy.

AreMyDucksinarow · 16/07/2023 21:04

I only have 1 week off…and it will be a mix of days out and some at home (I really need some chill time) Dh has another week off at later on in August so he will be taking them camping!

Weekends are quite busy with people coming & going

Im also going to be changing my work hours slightly so I can finish early and do some things in the afternoon

Mine are older now so don’t need complete supervision but I know I will moan about the amount of screen time 🤦‍♀️

pictoosh · 16/07/2023 21:05

I work term time btw. Have six weeks to play with.

whatatanker · 16/07/2023 21:05

Loads planned! Otherwise I couldn’t cope with 3DC if I had nothing organised. They are 7, 5 and 2.

I’m a teacher so I’m off all the time that they are and my DH works throughout most of the summer.

So I’ve got: A week in a camper van in Wales, and another week in a self catering house in Devon. Three days in London (which admittedly I haven’t actually booked yet). I booked some days of holiday club (5 in total) so that I can get some work done for September.

We’ve also got a music summer camp for 2 days and I’ve signed up for lots of events at our local library and will be taking them swimming a lot. I’m also planning to pack picnics most days (don’t know why but I really hate making lunch at home every day) and heading out to our local National Trust places.

Beignet · 16/07/2023 21:32

I'm working for most of the holidays but dh is self employed and has taken the school hols off to train for a triathlon so will train loads with ds 12. I have also have 2 teenage dd's,the oldest has a part time job and the youngest has lots of sociable friends and a bus pass.

We have a family holiday at the end of the hols in France.

I really don't miss the entertaining young children over school hols stage!

riotlady · 16/07/2023 21:44

I’ll be on maternity leave for all of it, scheduled for a c-section 2 weeks in! So the first 2 weeks I’ll be enjoying my last bit of time with DD as an only- we’re going to watch a knights tournament at a local English heritage site, strawberry picking, beach, probably swimming a few times. Then after that I’ll be recovering and coping with a newborn and letting DH be entertainer in chief! I’ve booked her in for a weeks holiday club and my parents and some friends will hopefully take her for a couple of days out too so she won’t be too bored trapped in the house (DH doesn’t drive and I won’t be able to for a few weeks)

Quisisana · 16/07/2023 22:13

Coming to the UK on holiday!

MonkeyPuddle · 16/07/2023 22:15

We’ve got 5 days in a caravan with some extended family, I’ve got 3 weeks of night shifts, DS is booked in for a weeks rugby camp and he’s got two weeks with his dad. Will likely have plenty of days at the park if it’s dry and the swimming baths if it’s not.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 16/07/2023 22:20

Brighton for a day
Benidorm for 4 days
Cinema
Jump trampoline park
I think that's it

mondaytosunday · 16/07/2023 22:39

Not much. Did a two night stay in Cornwall as my daughter was checking out a university and will spend two nights on the Isle of Wight for my sons birthday (he lives there). But can't afford anything else as saving for big trip to US at Christmas.

Sprogonthetyne · 16/07/2023 22:47

We've got a far amount of English heritage visits planned, due to wanting to use clubcard points before they stopped the x3. We're doing a weekly outing with a friend and her kids, and something else most weeks with my mum. 3 'family fun days' in different local parks, summer reading challeng plus a few craft sessions at the library, and a couple of free activities at the leasure centre.

sanityisamyth · 16/07/2023 22:48

I'm working all summer so restricted to weekends. Not sure yet.

Loafbeginsat60 · 16/07/2023 22:51

We are just back from a week in Tenerife and then the kids went to their dad for a week - so I did an awful lot of nothing apart from mess around with my horses

Next week nothing much planned other than pottering about at home. I need to make a goat house 🤔

Week after we have 3 days in a holiday cottage with hot tub

Then we need to cut hay and silage so that's 3/4 days taken up.

Dh has a week off in august and we are planning a few day trips to beaches and theme parks

On home days we will be river or loch swimming (if it ever stops raining), fishing, walks and picnics and generally pottering about on the farm. Always something to do - but don't always have a lot of motivation when I've got 6 weeks off.

Oh I've booked paddle boards and kayaks one day so that should be fun.

Greatcakesall · 17/07/2023 00:03

hope Everyone has nice holidays

Silkierabbit · 17/07/2023 00:25

DD has a river tours job and hosts garden parties and doing some A level work, seeing boyfriend, they've already been to Spain together.

DS is SN and LA still have to provide a school, 1.2 years and counting of no school so I will be in meetings with them across the summer. Not holding my breath as there have been meetings for 1 year already.

We go swimming, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room around 3 times a week and swim a mile each time which gives DH and I a bit of a break.

MIL is 90 but having her party in September.

Not got holidays planned though been to Maldives and Azores and Porto in last 9 months. Plus Paris to see MIL.

DinnaeFashYersel · 17/07/2023 00:41

Half way through.

11 year old is away with the scouts.

15 year old. Sleeps. Grunts. Eats. Plays in a device. Sleeps.

thaegumathteth · 17/07/2023 00:45

2 weeks in and just back from holiday. Museums, theme parks, zoos. Local attractions etc. Kids are 16&13.

4 weeks left and don't have much planned. Dd has a gymnastics day one day and hopefully we'll head over to edinburgh for a couple of fringe shows but tbh we are skint now and ds (16) isn't keen on doing much as we've had our allocated family time whilst on holiday 😂

Will probably ferry Dd and friends around to beach etc. I am working PT and from home so I'll be around but not available iyswim.

ZenNudist · 17/07/2023 00:45

As soon as we break up we are going to Amsterdam then on to a week in a centre parks place in the Netherlands.

Then 1 week each with each grandparents. A week of wood school, a week of watersports and the end of the summer I'm taking dc to the peak district for a week also with grandparents.

Weekend plans to see friends locally.

Goes quickly.

MinnieMountain · 17/07/2023 06:09

We’re visiting my DF for a week and going to Grasmere for a week.
MIL is taking DS to stay with her sister.
FIL who lives in the next town is having DS to stay for a few days.
Apart from that we’re meeting up with friends twice.
Will probably take DS to York for the day.
