Good Morning Mumsnet. What's everyone up to today?

I've not been up long - had a nice lie in after going out for dinner last night for the first time in months. I'm just making some toast & drinking my first cuppa. The kitchen window's open & the wind is blowing through the trees at the bottom of the garden. Lovely to listen to 😊

We're not up to much today, I don't think. The washer's on for the towels, and there's some washing up to be done from last night, but other than that & a tidy round, there'll be no housework.

I think I'm going to make a start on a Hansel and Gretel peg doll set for work while Goldilocks' varnish dries. Then attach some cotton 'hair' to Goldilocks this afternoon, when I work out how to do it.

Dd1's going to help dd2 with her maths homework at some point, and she has a bit of English to do as well. Other than that I don't think either is up to much. Their dad's off to Asda for me.

Re-heated Chinese for tea (the girls had takeaway last night & I added a curry knowing there'd be leftovers 😋). And then, probably, an early early night for me 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam! I always see these threads a bit too late but still want to participate. :) Can you show us a pic of Goldilocks when she’s done? She sounds sweet.

I’m currently on a bus to a town a few miles over to meet a new friend for a nosey around the antique shops and for lunch. I’m feeling a bit sinusy and sick so will likely have soup for lunch. I’ll also try to keep my hands in pocket and not buy anything as we really massively need to declutter our house. It’ll mostly be a trip to get decorating ideas and to hang out with this friend.

After returning I’m planning to make a chicken soup to keep me going the next couple days and then do a bit of client work to set me up well for tomorrow. I was trying to keep my Mondays clear of client meetings but I have 2 tomorrow. 😫

I/we also need to finish unpacking because we just came home from a trip on Friday but have been too jet lagged to do anything. Oh and a meal plan is in order as well! Have a lovely’s Sunday all!

So far, woke up to find dd's hamster had escaped his cage. Spent 1/2 hour looking of him, dd having a hissy fit. We found him in the downstairs cupboard, managed to grab him and put him back in the cage. Other dd wants to go into town soon, I got loads of housework to do.

QuestionableMouse · 16/07/2023 11:11

I'm sitting in bed wondering what to have for breakfast. Not much in because I've run the fridge down before a big grocery delivery tomorrow. Probably should have ordered something in!

I'm at work. Hmm

lucysmam · 16/07/2023 11:16

@JingsMahBucket I'll post a picture of the set later on, when it's complete - I'm currently trying various ways of attaching the hair with a plain peg doll 🙄

@vodkaredbullgirl glad you found the hamster!

@QuestionableMouse you've reminded me I need to book a shopping delivery - just not sure what day to go for, I'm meant to have an appointment mid-week but haven't heard anything yet about it 🤷‍♀️

@TheCyclingGorilla I hope the day passes quickly for you & you're home doing something nice later on!

Would a click and collect be any easier?

I still haven't moved - it's windy and cold today and I'd be quite happy staying in bed 😂

ListenLinda · 16/07/2023 11:24

Morning!
managed to have a small lie in this morning, before getting up with the kids and the day starting.
cleaned down the kitchen and we are currently at the DCs swimming lesson.
DD has said she doesnt feel well and her tummy hurts, but as soon I took her back to the car she ‘feels a bit better’ 🙄
off to my parents after DS finishes then a top up shop for through the week. Counting the pennies til Friday so having DHs home made burgers for tea & will end the day watching Love Island.

Valhalla17 · 16/07/2023 11:25

I've had a really long lie-in and having my first coffee and a bit of toast. DS still in bed, I will wake him up soon but we've had a very lazy weekend as work and school have both been exhausting!

I've got a lot of housework and laundry to do...I also have heaps of work to do on the laptop. Its a very busy period at work and I really want to get ahead so my week is calmer.

I also need to squeeze in the Wimbledon final at 2pm and get DS out for some fresh air...🤔

Crunchymum · 16/07/2023 11:26

Missed you yesterday @lucysmam (unless I missed your Saturday thread?)

Happy to see you have made a Sunday one.

Today is a but hectic for us as we're trying to fit a fee things in. DC2 has a party soon (local and I can drop and run) and DC1 wants to go and meet some friends. This is a bit of experiment as he'll be taking himself and he'll be a 15 minute walk from home. He's at that weird age (just finishing year 5) where he doesn't yet have a mobile phone but wants a bit more freedom. The park he is going to is literally opposite my dad's so granddad will be keeping an eye.

We're then planning to head to my in-laws as we have cousins down before they head off to Greece for the whole summer so there's a load of us gathering for a buffet late lunch / early dinner.

Trying to time it all so I can pick up DC2 from the party, pick up something for dessert from my fave bakery and pick up DC1.

**DC1 knows to go to granddads if his friends go home and the plan us he won't be "let loose" for longer than an hour.

This evening will be a film and an early night. We're all so tired. One more week to go then summer holidays.

Justonedayatatime11 · 16/07/2023 11:30

Lazing on the sofa which has been my bed for the past week whilst waiting for kittens to be born. They arrived Friday night so now it's constant round of checking, cleaning and generally worrying.
May venture out for coffee and some vegetables so we can have roast pork for tea, and if I can find the energy I may make some cookies. That's the extent of my Sunday.
@lucysmam hope you're doing ok x

gingercat02 · 16/07/2023 11:30

Morning @lucysmam. Hope you enjoyed your night out and you wore the gorgeous shoes 🥿
Not much on today. DS has taken CVs out to look for a summer job.
DH is a bit under the weather, and since his heart attack needs a bit of tlc.
Weather is crap, but if the wind dies down a bit, I may do some weeding, if not usual Sunday stuff - washing and getting ready for the final few days of school 😀

Mrsjayy · 16/07/2023 11:32

I went back to bed After letting pup out, I'm not feeling to hot today I only had 2 glasses of wine last night and It definitely didn't agree with me !

So I'm watching cooking with the stars Chris eubank Is on it he's a strange man!

TattyOne · 16/07/2023 11:41

Good morning! I'm usually working 7 days a week, normally up by 6:30am but today I had a lie in and didn't get up until 8:30! Our 5 coldwater fish, Nosher Jaws and Fangs, Wibbly and Wobbly were at the front of the tank tapping their watches saying ''muver, wot time do yall call this?!

Officially I should be working but I'm painting a house/business we'll be moving into in a couple of weeks, the whole place had been derelict for years and there were rotting carpets, peeling paint and wallpaper, dangly unused wires, wonky windows, mold and a whole load of other stuff, whole place deeds TLC before moving. Old things need ripping out and new stuff installed and the water and electric needs to be done. The new landlords are brilliant and are doing the electrics etc. and we're doing the painting/decorating so I'm going back to that in a moment with hubby and a 2L bottle of zero sugar 7UP!

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 16/07/2023 11:41

I woke up really early, but managed to doze off again for an hour or so. DH just got in from work so he is off to bed.

Washing machine is going, as it does every weekend. Had a busy day yesterday so will probably just chill out today, have pizza for dinner and generally do bugger all (other than laundry)

Zippedydodah · 16/07/2023 11:43

Good morning! Dog had a lovely early walk today, we went out at 7.30 for 90 minutes along bridleways and quiet lanes, back across the fields. I’m waiting for the green Thai curry to cook for lunch having tidied up and put away the washing. The towels are in the washing machine, I won’t be hanging them out because it’s piddling down again.
I want to watch TdeF in a bit, mainly for the scenery 😊, I cringe when they’re riding flat out at 98kmh on the downhill bits 🫣
I will crochet while it’s on, I cannot sit and do nothing! Hopefully dog won’t want another walk until later.

thefinaltwist · 16/07/2023 11:44

Hi. Today I'm doing nothing. I've hurt my shoulder last weekend and its taking its sweet time to heel. So I've done a tiny bit of housework currently having a salt bath and then its clean pj's and my book/magazine/Outlander in bed for the rest of the day.

Ds is on week 3 of the school holidays ( Scotland ) so he spends his week with grandparents so happy to let him do as he pleases at the weekend. He is playing his xbox just now. Dh is away for a hike. Not sure what's for tea will decide later

lucysmam · 16/07/2023 11:44

I did wear the shoes @gingercat02 ! A lovely older lady complimented them while we were waiting for a taxi home 😊 Must practise though if I decide to wear them for more than dinner out and one bar - could definitely feel in my legs that I've not worn heels for a looooong time 🤣

@Crunchymum I hope ds's trip out is successful!

@Justonedayatatime11 how many kittens are there?

We’ve had a lie in, did some washing, had poached eggs for breakfast. I’m just out of the shower and we’re heading out to see if I can find a dress for a wedding we have in August. Need to get some bits from the Supermarket too.
Will have a walk somewhere later and stop for a cuppa or ice cream.
Dinner tonight is roast chicken, new potatoes and salad. Then we’ll catch up on some telly or play on the switch.

riotlady · 16/07/2023 11:59

DD woke up at half 6 this morning but we’ve had a fairly lazy time- just been gently pootling around doing a few jobs while she plays/watches the iPad. Managed to convince her to do her reading words for school but it was a battle, definitely ready for the holidays!

Pregnancy had apparently turned me into a hobbit so I had first breakfast (porridge) with DD and then a second breakfast (bacon sandwich) with DH when he got up. Just waiting for him to get out of the shower so we can go to the local park for a kids day the local council have organised. I’m expecting to see a few of DDs friends from school there but it rained last night so we will all be sat on carrier bags I think!

After that DD and I are off to my mums for a bit and DH is off to work. Egg fried rice for tea (low on funds so nice cheap meal!) and then I’ll watch Love Island when DD is in bed

monicagellerbing · 16/07/2023 12:01

Up early this morning as we got a new puppy yesterday and wanted to get down and check how he'd been through the night. Only one 💩 so I was pleased with that! Stripped all the beds and they are blowing nicely on the line. Just had fried egg on toast for lunch and my mam and sister and coming this afternoon, they don't know I've got a puppy so I'm excited to surprise them! Showers and hairs washed for me and DD tonight, paint nails and then chill and finish FUBAR on Netflix ready for work tomorrow. Puppy is going to my aunties for the day while I'm working

Turkey18 · 16/07/2023 12:06

Hiding from 12 year old DD. I just can't deal with her behaviour.

Mrsjayy · 16/07/2023 12:14

Oh no @Turkey18 I remember it well my eldest was a total arsehole at 12 , she didn't get over herself till she was 15/16.

QuestionableMouse · 16/07/2023 12:16

I've been surprisingly productive! Have a sausage casserole in the slow cooker and made porridge (with an excess of double cream and brown sugar!) for brunch. Really need to wash up but I've got a bad ankle (thought it was a sprain, it's actually a small fracture) so even with a boot standing for too long isn't hugely comfortable!

ThreeRingCircus · 16/07/2023 12:27

I was up from 6.30am with DDs....we watched Encanto and DH had a lie in.

Around 9.30am once DH was up we went for a walk in the woods and to get DDs a run about. I had to pick up an order from Sainsbury's afterwards so we stopped in at the café for a cup of tea.

DDs are now colouring in and we're planning a quiet afternoon. I'm just about to make some cheese on toast for lunch and dinner is pie and mash.

Simonjt · 16/07/2023 12:40

Happy Sunday everyone, we’re sorting through our flat, my husband has been offered a job, so we really need to reduce how much stuff we have to make renting the flat easier, and so we don’t have to pay to move things. We haven’t found anything overly weird so far, we’ve had an argument about trainers, so we’re trying to guess what we’ll argue about next, I think books. Small one is at a friends house today, small two is mainly sitting in cardboard boxes.
