Good Morning Mumsnet. What's everyone up to today?

I've not been up long - had a nice lie in after going out for dinner last night for the first time in months. I'm just making some toast & drinking my first cuppa. The kitchen window's open & the wind is blowing through the trees at the bottom of the garden. Lovely to listen to 😊

We're not up to much today, I don't think. The washer's on for the towels, and there's some washing up to be done from last night, but other than that & a tidy round, there'll be no housework.

I think I'm going to make a start on a Hansel and Gretel peg doll set for work while Goldilocks' varnish dries. Then attach some cotton 'hair' to Goldilocks this afternoon, when I work out how to do it.

Dd1's going to help dd2 with her maths homework at some point, and she has a bit of English to do as well. Other than that I don't think either is up to much. Their dad's off to Asda for me.

Re-heated Chinese for tea (the girls had takeaway last night & I added a curry knowing there'd be leftovers 😋). And then, probably, an early early night for me 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

@lucysmam 5, 4 boys and 1 girl. Very cute but very noisy!

GayPareeee · 16/07/2023 12:45

Having a nervous breakdown trying and failing to think of something fun to do whilst being aware that the day is running away from me and that I'm achieving nothing.

Really I'd like either to go down to the sea (don't drive so hour by train and it will be busy) or everyone else to bugger off so I can be miserable and cry in peace.

Realistically I suspect we will watch the men's final and then all drive down to the coast later and I'll just have to ignore DH who has enraged me today else I'll say something I'll later regret.

If I'm lucky night remember the BBQ to cook sausages in buns for tea when there

Morning all!

I was up early to drop DS1 at football and DS2 to a party, took the dog and watched DS1’s game as I walked her round the pitch. They’ve gone to their dad’s now.

DP is out on the garden continuing his garden room project. DSD is making chocolate milkshake and DSS is in the pool. We’ll take them to their mum’s later so just need to sort dinner for DP and I - I fancy pie and mash now it’s been mentioned above…

I got up early to feed the pets then fell asleep on the sofa! I’ve been to walk the dog in the park - glad I took a brolly - and to fill the car up. I also fancied pork steaks for tea and when I went to Tesco they had some in the reduced section. Result!

I’m not very well with my mental health at the moment so I had a phone check-in this morning with the crisis team and will have another this afternoon. I want to watch the tennis (please let Alcaraz play well) and I’m feeding some cats later.

I'm just waiting to collect DH from an endoscopy. Then home for DS16 and DS15 to hover over him - and keep the dog away - whilst he naps. He will insist on his choice of tv even tho he will be asleep.

Need to decide what we will have for Sunday dinner. Sort through more washing.

We go to Latitude Wednesday PM and am unsure on what to pack or what food to take. We have a camper van so relatively luxurious but still don't really know what we get / don't get. Hmmmm.

Need to also sort the office out and do some paperwork. It is becoming a dumping ground and want to stop it getting worse.

Overslept. I was interviewing candidates for a job in my team at 10am and woke up at 9.53am! Slapped some clothes over my PJ’s and was at my desk in time thankfully. I have some admin to do later and look forward to offering the job to the happy candidate. I’m self employed so weekends work best in our line of work.

Washed bedding, had porridge and coffee. Might go for a walk later. DH doing something in the garden and DS is at in-laws house up the road. Shopping is being delivered this aft. I will tackle cleaning the bathrooms now and then make some mood boards/Pinterest for a huge decorating project coming up. Leftovers from yesterday for tea. Watched Wham documentary last night which was surprisingly moving.

We were up and out for football training this morning, DH was coaching and DS2 and I were selling the teas and coffees. Then DS2 had a party, so I took him to that. Then a quick play at the park for him on the way home. I've made lunch and now planning a doze on the sofa this afternoon as I'm tired and have a bit of a headache. The weather is very wet and very windy, so I'm happy to stay inside!

A quick tea of chicken, waffles and veg this evening, then bath for DS2, reading and bed. DS1 surfaced for lunch and will surface for dinner but is gaming and chatting to friends in his room. DH is watching tv but has done the ironing while I've been at the party with DS2. Dog is curled up asleep and has no intention of going out in the rain.

OP, is the girls Dad, not your partner? You talk about him as though he’s not. Very confusing.

Glad you got to enjoy a night out. Well deserved I say!

We had a lie in, then dh made us a huge breakfast to celebrate DSS's birthday (which is tomorrow but we only have him
Before school). Pottered about and did some house work then took DSS's and Dd2 to an inflatable aqua park thingy. Come home cold and wet and tired but they enjoyed it. Dd1 went to see her ex boyfriend's family as it's his little sisters birthday today and they were quite close (Boyfriend who she definitely doesn't want to get back together with Wink). I don't think any good will come of it but she would shoot the messenger if I said that so I'm letting her make her own mistakes. Had an early indoor BBQ tea (too rainy for actual BBQ) and now Im at work doing an evening sit with a palliative care client. Her husband has gone out for a walk and to see a friend for a bit to get a break and she is fast asleep-all is peaceful-the only sounds the ticking grandfather clock, her cat gently snoring at her feet and the rain on the window pain. I don't think she's got too long left. She is really lovely and I hope when the end comes it is quiet and calm and that she knows how much she is loved.

@JingsMahBucket Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I would have posted a pic last night but her hair wasn't stuck well enough to plait 🙂

Good Morning Mumsnet. What's everyone up to today?

@lucysmam oh my word, that is adorable! I can’t believe you’re so dextrous that you could actually the little girl’s hair. ☺️

🤣 I had to get dd1 to hold her head in place for me to be able to do it!
