Does anyone ever use the WhatsApp status but??

Accurate scientific polling here. Do you or your contacts use it, and regularly?

None of my contacts have ever used it, I get little alert icons, but it always WhatsApp itself (presumably trying to promote the function?)

One wannabe influencer and one “actual” influencer. And by that I mean, she has tens of thousand of IG followers and is always trying to flog people stuff. I guess she doesn’t know how to turn off the crappy salesman act.

No one else, ever.

One friend uses it every time she goes out. Just random pics of food and drink or her kids on the park etc. She does it about 3 times a day. Another friend puts things up about Eid and inspirational quotes about once a week. And that's it.

One colleague does, no one else I know.

My WhatsApp contacts update their status regularly depending on what’s going on. One has multiple insane updates every single day. The rest are more interesting and I’m likely to look at theirs.

I’ve used it occasionally.

Is but?? A thing I don't know about yet? A particular status? I am constantly surprised at how much language moves on!

I thought maybe it was one of the "set options" but I've just had a look in WhatsApp and there aren't set options!

I have no idea what this means, so I'm going with no.

I use it for funny memes but nothing else. A couple of my colleagues use it to post food/memes/random pictures of things I don't know anything about but that's it.

Are you Australian? They are the only folks I know to us 'but' at the end of a sentence to sort of mean 'though' e.g. does anyone actually use this, though??

More to the point I can't send messages via WA this morning .I get the clock signal which apparently means the signal is weak .

A contact couldn't WA me yesterday ,though I received WA messages from others .
Now I can't message out.Although my phone says the WA lot is backing itself up .

Is the status thing the same as the 'hey! I'm using WA' or whatever that default message is? I don't really understand.

What is the difference between status and about on WhatsApp?
About: About is what appears beneath your name in your contact's WhatsApp contact list. Its visibility can be also set to everybody, nobody or contacts.
Status: Status is the videos, photos or text appear only for 24 hours. There is a dedicated Status tab under which you can post as well as see posts of your contacts
