No good deed goes unpunished- reselling tickets

Just had to get Twickets to reverse a sale as the buyer was unhappy that I couldn't supply the tickets now (for a concert in June 2024 for which tickets have not been released yet- no, not Taylor Swift 😂). She was really unhappy about it, which I thought was a bit off as I'd put all the information onto the site accurately, was using the approved resale site and selling at cost price for a sold out gig.

Is there anywhere I can resell tickets without all this faff?

Absolutely nothing

but I would say that you can provide your buyer with the bloomin confirmation email at least to reassure them

I don't know if I'm missing something but at no point has the OP said she hasn't sent a confirmation email or that the buyer agreed she'd be happy with that anyway.
The buyer wants the tickets now. As the OP doesn't have them she wants her money back instead. Some people really are that stupid and will not be happy with a confirmation email or understand that very often tickets don't get posted out until nearer the time.

What’s wrong with profit, or even a hefty profit?

Because its morally wrong to buy and resell tickets for vast amounts.

MILsPlates · 14/07/2023 06:54

For the third time, I didn’t sell them for a profit- that’s not possible through Twickets. I did send a confirmation but as I’ve said multiple times she wanted the actual tickets. Good grief.

Don't worry I understand you completely. I'm not sure why others are struggling so much. I think they just want you to be in the wrong regardless.

DiscoDeborah · 14/07/2023 07:05

Sell again with Twickets. Most people understand that's how it works (apart from your customer and a few on here 😄).

You'll sell them again fine. It's not your fault they don't know how ticketing works and haven't read the FAQ. We had our e-tickets for a gig recently the week before.

DiscoDeborah · 14/07/2023 07:07

@ThePM because it rips off fans and stops ordinary people from accessing live music.

People are reselling Taylor Swift tickets for thousands. They were up minutes after the sale opened. I hope they all get their tickets cancelled.

No. You never said you sent the confirmation

so in that case - she’s not the sharpest tool in the box as you could just point her to where it says on the confirmation that this is NOT the ticket and the tickets will be issued closer to the event

So you’ve never sold a property for many many many more thousands of pounds than what you purchased it for?

MILsPlates · 14/07/2023 08:07

Thanks, @PaperSheet and @DiscoDeborah

Viaggogo is awful, they sell for a ridiculous amount.

Viagogo are indeed awful. Horrific price and their customer service is non existent. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Buyer beware in my experience.

Yes, because that's exactly the same..

Hmm

Actually no I haven't @Kimchikitchen but it's different.

Fans hate touts. I don't care which side you fall on but the OP isn't trying to make a profit.

I don’t care either way - whether the op was selling face value or at a profit.

my point was different

Kimchikitchen · 14/07/2023 08:28

How is selling a ticket for a profit
any different to selling anything for a profit?

NoSquirrels · 14/07/2023 08:52

Just resell on Twickets. You experienced “all this faff” because that one person didn’t understand, not because Twuckets itself is the issue.

babybrain999 · 14/07/2023 08:58

I also recently bought tickets from Gigs & Tours for a gig in June 2024 which I wanted to resell (I was able to get VIP tickets for the same event so wanted to sell the general admission ones - I wasn't trying to make a profit, just no longer needed the original tickets). I suspect it may be for the same tour... I also sold them on Twickets and had also had a buyer who got a bit annoyed that I couldn't transfer the tickets yet. I sent the email booking confirmation and a screenshot of the app showing the tickets were not yet available. The buyer eventually accepted it (after going to Twickets saying I wasn't transferring the tickets!), but it took a few emails to convince her. I think part of it was that she hadn't realised that I won't get the money until after the event. She had (wrongly) assumed that it would have come straight to me when she bought the tickets. I think it put her mind at ease a bit to learn I wouldn't get the money if I didn't send the tickets over. It is so frustrating though, I think it should be made clearer to buyers from the outset that they will likely have to wait until just before the gig to get the tickets.

If it is the same tour, I'm sure I saw something that all G&T tickets for it could only be resold via Twickets or you risk the ticket being cancelled. I may just be making that up but seem to remember seeing something about it, hence why I sold mine there. Good luck with wherever you do end up selling them though, hopefully you will get a more understanding buyer next time!

Weren’t you the one who criticised OP about making a hefty profit in the first place, which is what led to this conversation…?

I got Taylor for June 2024 but op assures us not her!

Kimchikitchen · 13/07/2023 16:18

June 2024

so you’ve very very recently booked?

With the intention of off loading with a hefty profit I imagine

So I guess you would have congratulated OP if she confirmed that was indeed the case?
