@QwertyWitch No. Gavel. possibly some nice butter and chutney . I might put mashed potato and very good sausages a close second.

LaurelGrove · 12/07/2023 15:58

No and like you i am on a calorie restricted diet so not much scope for this.

I share your pain. I have coeliac and I linger outside the bakers like a bisto kid.

If you're managing to stick to low-carb, though, you're doing really well.

Yes, fresh crusty bread with butter and jam. I made some for lunch, with rhubarb jam.

Snugglemonkey · 12/07/2023 16:03

No. Or maybe the same bread with some pâté and some caramelised onion marmalade.

Nellieinthebarn · 12/07/2023 16:05

Or a warm proper baguette stuffed with melted butter, bacon and brown sauce...

Weepingwillows12 · 12/07/2023 16:06

Warm baguette with cheese AND good ham and a lot of butter. Yum.

SmirnoffIceIsNice · 12/07/2023 16:10

Crusty bread dipped in those cheese bakes you heat in the oven. Aldi does one which is mature cheddar with Kentish cider. Now I'm craving it 🧀🥖

QwertyWitch · 12/07/2023 16:15

Honestly, if I could lose weight and be healthy on crusty bread, I wouldn't need any other food. Ever.

After school snack time currently which is when I'm really tortured. I'll be fine in an hour or so..,,

Off for a walk or deep breathing meditation. One of them will help, surely?

I don't eat much bread these days but had some french bread with butter yesterday and thought, Wow! That is so good...

LaterHarold · 12/07/2023 16:21

We're in France and eat loads of bread, fresh from the bakery each day. Interestingly I've lost weight doing it too. Result Grin

Rummikub · 12/07/2023 16:22

Crusty cobs with ham and butter - yum.

What do bakeries do to get them so tasty?!

Omg! That's what I need.

French bread contains no carbs in the same way as other people's chips contain no calories 👍

SisterAgatha · 12/07/2023 16:32

If it’s salty butter as well…. Mmmm

although a proper roast potato will sort me right out too

greenacrylicpaint · 12/07/2023 16:33

crusty rye sourdough, pickle and stilton
<sigh>

Deadringer · 12/07/2023 16:34

Add a few crisps and I am with you op.

liveforsummer · 12/07/2023 16:35

Yes - crusty bread and cheese dipped in homemade spiced lentil and tomato soup - another level!

PollyCreo · 12/07/2023 16:37

Maybe if you keep the cheese and bread separate on the plate not touching each other, that will help? A modern day version of the 90s 'food combining' diet? 😂

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 12/07/2023 16:38

Yes, fresh crusty bread with salty butter. However I love cheese so it is close!

JFDIYOLO · 12/07/2023 16:46

Ohhhhhhhhh and salted butter .....

mathanxiety · 12/07/2023 16:47

I love it so much that I bought a 5 minute no knead bread recipe book yesterday and can't wait to get cracking with the baking.

I must have missed that. Do you find it in the same chiller as the rest of the cheese?

EversoDetermined · 12/07/2023 16:54

No. Fresh crusty bread with crunchy peanut butter is a close second.

Lwrenagain · 12/07/2023 17:02

Freshly baked baguette with salted butter and a slice of applewood with some really ripe British tomatoes, with those seasalt flakes and a crack of black pepper is going to be my last supper.
If I end up for some reason on death row.
Not planning on it, just for the possibility.
