not the ones at events and schools. one has just gone round our estate. I just can't work out how they make money(kids are still at school)

Extremely rarely. Maybe once a year. There's one that comes round our estate but it's £4.50 for a waffle cone ice cream and flake! 😱

He still comes round here every week though so I assume somebody is buying them.

DataNotLore · 11/07/2023 14:45

They don't make their money from ice cream

Phos · 11/07/2023 14:45

We hear two in our area a lot, so assume someone must.

Dancingfairydreams · 11/07/2023 14:46

The one near us makes a fortune, he posts on the local FB which roads he's going to next, always a queue..and in the winter he does hot desserts.

The one round us is out at all hours of the night in the worst of weather. I'm pretty sure he's selling other wares.

Samcro · 11/07/2023 16:11

ds used to say that when he was a teen, thought he was making it up

My DS loves it when they comes here

PuttingDownRoots · 11/07/2023 16:13

One parks near DDs school on warm days. The queue can take 15+ minutes.

PureLife89 · 11/07/2023 16:25

They don't drive round for the hell of it

Of course people use them

beeonmybonnett · 11/07/2023 16:27

I’ve not used one in a long time. But having said that, if one happened to be parked as I’m walking past, I may use it.

Chooba · 11/07/2023 16:28

We used to have 3 at the old house. always a roaring trade, nobody needs that much ice cream.

00100001 · 11/07/2023 16:30

The lines of kids round our way use them

Wenfy · 11/07/2023 16:30

There’s a gentleman who owns one in our estate. During the school day he works as a delivery man to several local pharmacies. He only starts being an icecream man after 3:30pm.

NoCoincidence · 11/07/2023 16:31

Every week from March to September!

Wenfy · 11/07/2023 16:31

But even then it’s a side business.

CindersAgain · 11/07/2023 16:32

We do at parks etc.

purplecorkheart · 11/07/2023 16:34

There used to be one in my town. Per the newspapers reports last year he was selling Icecream.

Tdcp · 11/07/2023 16:35

My landlord owns the company that runs the ice cream vans, I ain't giving him money twice😂 though he does park right outside my window...

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 11/07/2023 16:37

Yes! Quite often. The old chap that does the one in my town is a second generation ice cream man 😃and he is so cheerful & friendly with the kids.

Happily I live in semi-rural north Yorkshire so ice cream van prices are not extortionate (yet).

ALongHardWinter · 11/07/2023 17:57

I've spotted 3 different ones in my area alone, and from what I've noticed, they seem to do a pretty good trade.

StopStartStop · 11/07/2023 18:45

They supply drugs in my neighbourhood.

Yes we do go to the one that comes round our estate now and again. We are into week 2 of the school holidays so they are round quite a bit.

skyeisthelimit · 11/07/2023 18:57

We have one that usually comes around once a weekon a Saturday afternoon. My daughter will always have something even if I don't. He is a Mr Whippy type van.
