I know irs the location causing the price.. but it looks like a bed in a kitchen!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 11/07/2023 07:30

I hate to say it but that's not even bad for Chelsea. Horrible Reno though.

ViaRia01 · 11/07/2023 07:33

It is open plan…

I’m not saying it isn’t expensive but you can’t really argue that it’s not open plan.

Fallenangelofthenorth · 11/07/2023 07:33

204 square feet. Can you imagine being confined in a place that tiny in the event of another lockdown? There's nowhere to put a laptop, nowhere for a tv, nowhere to put more than a suitcase of clothes. Nowhere for a suitcase either for that matter.

WhiteFire · 11/07/2023 07:33

It's basically an expensive hotel room, it will appeal to the market who need a bed space to sleep in during the week and is cheaper and easier then living out of a hotel room.

There's a market for this type of let.

lampformyfeet · 11/07/2023 07:34

It’s a bedsit in a basement…

It's a bedsit, not a flat

YallaYallaaa · 11/07/2023 07:34

They’re not trying to hide that it’s a studio.

Also…Chelsea.

Coronationstation · 11/07/2023 07:35

Well at least the bathroom has a door! They’re just overselling it as a 1 bed rather than a studio flat.

Soontobe60 · 11/07/2023 07:36

They’ve not exactly made the best use of the (lack of) space. I’d shove a sofa bed in there then you’d have far more floor space!
also, imagine renting that out on AirBnB at £250+ per night… you would make a fortune!

femfemlicious · 11/07/2023 07:36

It's Chelsea?. What do you expect. Its a studio flat and it's nice.

That makes sense. If you’re there 4 nights a week it’s just over 100 a night, plus bills .

MilitantMommyBFArmy4Life · 11/07/2023 07:37

It's just greed. Cooking dinner next to your bed should not be a thing. Freeholders in Chelsea are wealthy enough without having to do this. It also ruins a gorgeous house.

This could have been 3 luxury flats but no. They must squeeze in tenants in every sqm

Having said that, it's far from the worst. At least it's got a nice kitchen and is in good condition.

Wilkolampshade · 11/07/2023 07:39

Odd, - don't know why they would choose too describe it as 'open plan' rather than 'studio'? Surely anyone renting in that area has they're eyes wide open to what a rip off its likely to be? DD2 looking to rent near college in Kensington atm and the agents are perfectly open about how daft the situation is.

TheCyclingGorilla · 11/07/2023 07:43

Agree with PP, it's a bedsit.

gogomoto · 11/07/2023 07:45

My Dc's room in her forces accommodation is bigger than that plus has a separate shared kitchen. It's £50 a month

OrangeWoolCardiWrap · 11/07/2023 07:46

The thing is, it isn’t in Chelsea. I had an actor friend who used to live in the Finborough Road and it’s Earls Court.

OP posts:
Chocolatesandroses · 11/07/2023 07:48

That’s crazy expensive for what it is but it’s the area and hardly a one bedroom 🙄. It looks nice tho

PinkPlantCase · 11/07/2023 07:51

I actually quite like it. There’s enough space to actually cook in the kitchen and they haven’t scrimped on kitchen cupboard space. Shower is also nice.

it does need a cosy armchair in the bay though.

Having a kitchen in the same room as the bed (a studio) is often perceived as safer for flats under the regs as a fire wouldn’t develop without you noticing meaning you could escape faster. I do wonder if they follow all of the sound testing that is in the regulations though.

I can’t get upset about high rents in central London. The rents are meant to be high, it’s central London!

Totally comparable pieces of real estate.

Ellmau · 11/07/2023 07:54

It's an old fashioned bedsit.

maddiemookins16mum · 11/07/2023 07:54

It’s a studio as has own bathroom (similar to what one may book on holiday). Bedsits will usually have shared bathrooms.

maddiemookins16mum · 11/07/2023 07:56

The floor plan describes it as a studio.
