How does the BBC get out of the presenter mess?

1000 replies

mids2019 · 11/07/2023 07:13

Seriously how does the BBC now go forward and what can be the conclusion to this story? The story could run for some time with on going speculation about the presenter and eventually in my opinion a name will drop.

Can there therefore be any sort of fair investigation because I think there may be too much aspirational damage now for a career to be as ed. It seems the knives the BBC sit on this the more scrutiny there is and they desperately need a conclusion?

I suspected it would be more than one person. By all accounts from the BBC, who have seen and verified the messages from the second person, the 'presenter' is a vile, foul mouthed, aggressive bully.

Willmafrockfit · 11/07/2023 19:22

even without the second case he has brought the BBC into disrepute

TimeToRecover · 11/07/2023 19:22

Just wait until the big one at the BBC gets exposed .. But that wont be yet, they are going to wait till he dies

Nat6999 · 11/07/2023 19:16

Who is the presenter?

The answer is in your question...

mayorofcasterbridge · 11/07/2023 19:23

If the speculation is correct - I am so so shocked!!

Juanmartinez · 11/07/2023 19:24

@TimeToRecover do you have concrete evidence of this ? I wouldn't go about starting rumours or guessing games.

placemats · 11/07/2023 19:25

Posters asking the identity of the person are wind up merchants. Ignore them.

But if you still haven't got a cluedo, it's not Colonel Mustard. (there might just be clues scattered around the place)

So am I. Really wasn’t expecting that.

@DaisyQuakeJohnson Brilliant posts.

Not sure it's speculation at this point tbh.

There are many posters on this thread who have:

Blamed the parents, especially the mother
Claim he has done nothing illegal
Are adamant he's being blackmailed
Would love to see him back on the telly

Many people supported Saville as well and still do to this day.

TimeToRecover · 11/07/2023 19:28

Positive. Not name dropping at all @Juanmartinez

Madamecholetsbonnet · 11/07/2023 19:30

@TimeToRecover Oh go on!!!

Yes, it is incredible.

@DaisyQuakeJohnson Brilliant posts.

Agree.

Also @RedToothBrush

Don't be a dick.

lljkk · 11/07/2023 19:35

Who supports or defends Saville now?
His family & heirs, maybe, what excuses have they made?

It feels very disrespectful to Saville's victims to imply the current allegations are remotely in same league of evil deeds (as what Saville did).

There is a world of difference between JS and what has allegedly happened here. Pretending nude photos of an uncomfortably young (but legal) man is on par with necrophilia just isn’t reasonable at all.

I really wish shades of grey would be introduced back into public thinking. Is this person sleazy and immoral? Yes. Are they a monster or evil? Most likely not, solely going on these allegations.

We don’t have to make everybody who has done wrong the WORST OF THE WORST. There’s nothing to be gained from this type of black and white thinking.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 11/07/2023 19:39

I’m also really shocked. No idea why really but all just seems sad and sordid.

popopop · 11/07/2023 19:39

@TimeToRecover surely not?

placemats · 11/07/2023 19:39

@lljkk Here we go. I wasn't making a comparison with the victims.

Simply comparing those who will defend abusive people.

Plenty of people still defend Saville. Not a rabbit internet hole you would want to go down - I don't recommend it.

And now you're at it.

Most normal people would comprehend that I am talking about people who DEFEND abusive behaviour. It seems to me that you think the presenter, diddums, is okay and should be back on the telly?

DogbertMcDogglesworth · 11/07/2023 19:46

You'd have thought that they would have gone to a better class of rag than the sun.

NoonaNeomuYeppeo · 11/07/2023 19:48

I'm surprised although I probably shouldn't be.

Calliecaterpillar · 11/07/2023 19:54

Completely agree @placemats

And completely disagree with people who think there are no victims at this moment in their lives - they may not identify as victims (yet, those being exploited often don't recognise it while it's happening) but I find it gross that people would sooner leap to defend the older mans behaviour than the accusers.

MilitantMommyBFArmy4Life · 11/07/2023 19:57

I agree with @Sweetashunni

He's clearly done wrong messing with someone who could be in year 12 or 13.

Also don't think it's comparable to Jimmy Sa-Vile who molested elderly people and children.

Let's bring back nuance. It doesn't mean you're defending abuse or that I want them back on telly😑
