How do you store your wrapping paper?

Just that really. Ours is a tumbling pile of mess.

I'm thinking an umbrella stand might work to tidy it up a bit?

I have just bought the box someone posted from IKEA, it's fantastic.

Ifailed · 10/07/2023 06:39

I wrap mine up in wrapping paper wrapping paper.

We don't have a wide drawer, so I roll every roll up neatly. Then there's one elastic band around them all and they stand on their ends down the side of a bookcase in my office.
I was thinking if binning the lot and buying sheets next time though, as I find the storage so annoying!

Mutabiliss · 10/07/2023 06:56

I also have the IKEA box. It lives under our bed. So useful!

IKEA wrapping paper box, kept under my bed

I have a wrapping paper bag for most wrapping paper and a wrapping paper carrier bag for the ones that I bought last year after Christmas in the sale. I have boxes for sheets of wrapping paper, gift tags, curling ribbons, gift bows, ribbons, stickers, and stick-on gift tags, decorative tapes, tissue paper, and other gift decorations. I store them in gift bags, old chocolate tins, etc. I put cards in a drawer and gift bags in a very large gift bag. I don't have a lot of gift boxes so when I have them, I put them inside other ones. I have a lot of gift wrap and it all goes in a cupboard (the cupboard doesn't just store wrapping paper). I save tissue paper, ribbons and wrapping paper from gifts given to me so I do have a lot of gift wrap.

I sewed a hem round the open side of an old pillowcase and threaded a ribbon through it to make a drawbag.
Then added some pockets out of the pillowcase flap that I'd cut off for sellotape and bows etc.
It hangs on the back of a tall cupboard door in the kitchen and is the perfect length for rolls of paper.

The winner 🌟

In a wide drawer.
Really Useful Company do see through plastic boxes specially designed for wrapping paper. I always want to get one then I remember we have the drawer.

We have the boxes. One, for birthday paper in the cus. Two for Christmas paper in the loft.

YackyDah · 10/07/2023 07:57

I don't. I buy a roll as needed.

calmcoco · 10/07/2023 07:57

Wrapping paper box under the bed.

Totaly · 10/07/2023 07:58

I made a drawstring bag with polo keys for sellotape scissors and tags etc added a loop and it hangs in the wardrobe

Nanalisa60 · 10/07/2023 08:11

In a long box with all the tags, Christmas paper buy In the sales and goes in another long box away with the Christmas decorations. I bought the box’s from a big craft shop.

We have a build-in cupboard where the shelves have the exact length. One is dedicated to a variety of wrapping papers, bags, boxes, ribbons etc.

tropicalmentos · 10/07/2023 08:23

I use a short suit bag like the ones you get dry cleaning in. Works brilliantly for all but the extra long rolls. I have one for normal paper and one for Christmas paper, hanging in a wardrobe when not being used.

YorkieTheRabbit · 10/07/2023 08:31

All the rolls of wrapping paper along with assorted ribbons are in a drawer in a spare bedroom.
There’s also a drawer with tissue paper and gift bags and tags.

uglybettty · 10/07/2023 08:43

I shove it in a cupboard.

MyAnacondaMight · 10/07/2023 08:50

In a wide, shallow drawer. They fit perfectly and it gives me a thrill each time I open it. Cards, ribbons, tape etc. all live in the next drawer.

When I didn’t have space for a gift wrap drawer, I just kept a single roll of paper in gold or pearlescent white etc. and wrapped everything in that - with ribbons to personalise. Worked remarkably well - you don’t need 101 different rolls for every occasion.

A couple of long wrapping paper boxes which we keep under the bed.

That sounds brilliant. If I could sew I'd make something like that to sell on Etsy.

I've got a wrapping paper storage bag, there are loads on amazon. It's great- holds all the rolls in place and then there are pockets which I use to hold ribbons and tags and then pop scissors and tape in another so I never have to hunt around for it when I need it. I think it was around £10. It zips up and then zips open and lays flat so everything's all laid out- no rummaging.

Once it's zipped up it generally lives propped up in the back of a cupboard or slid under the bed.

Mine is all in a drawer in one of the spare rooms.

It’s my gift-wrapping drawer, which is the ordinary person’s version of Mr Spelling’s gift-wrapping room in his mansion 🤣. That nugget of information has not left my memory yet.

I did see one thread on here, where a poster’s genius OH had built cupboards/drawers under the stairs and had included a pull out section in the small place at the top for rolls of wrapping paper.

I was really hoping someone was going to declare they had a gift wrapping room a La the Spelling mansion!

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 10/07/2023 09:08

I have a couple of canvas wrapping paper storage boxes, they fit about 8 rolls in each and have compartments for scissors, cello tape and extras. I bought them from home bargains, they are usually available when the Christmas stock starts going out.

Trenda · 10/07/2023 09:24

I use a big drawer of the spare room bed to store all my wrapping requirements.
Rolls fit easily laid lengthways and there is plenty of room for a tape dispenser ( vital) ,scissors and pens.
Sheet wrapping is stored in a lever arch folder with different designs and tissue sheets in their own pockets. I also have some little treat sized paper bags for small / hard to wrap items.

I also have a small card drawer where i store cards for use throughout the year. I keep a couple of Amazon £10 cards for emergencies and a few spare stamps in there too .
