I'm away from home today and passing a Lidl which I don't have close by me. What are the nice little gems that you love ?

I buy things like dried porchini, jarred pesto, wholemeal pasta, their deluxe mango chutney is very good, basics like loo rolls (we like the coconut scented ones, I know it's controversial!Grin) ketchup, mayo, apple sauce, oils, cereals, French blend ground coffee, store cupboard things like chopped tomatoes, anchovies, jarred peppers, cup a soups (not for me!) crisps... and wine!

I do my weekly shop at Lidl so I do get a little bored of the stuff but I'd say my favs are:

  • Polish sliced sausage (I think it's called Farmer's sausage - oo er!).
  • Greek yoghurt 10% fat (not Greek style but Greek)
  • The massive pots of Peach and passion fruit yog
  • Premium cat biscuits in the black bag
  • Chorizo whole sausage
  • Salad red peppers
  • Mini Gelatelli almond lollies
  • Woodgate cider, v cheap
  • Sparkling water

Artichoke hearts in a jar. Yum.

I had an absolutely delicious butternut squash and goats cheese wellington! Their Fin Carre chocolate is good too (especially the extra creamy one!).

I love the Lidl bakery but last time I went in when the weather was warm there were flies everywhere around them while they were sweating and ever since have been too Confused to even think about buying one. Even my free birthday one got left by the wayside

Jam doughnuts
Rib eye steak
Portuguese custard tarts, a third the price of M&S and so delicious

Manzana · 09/07/2023 19:06

their iced cinnamon or lemon buns from the bakery are tasty

Bluekangaroo123 · 09/07/2023 19:07

Multi seed crackers- similar to the Ryvita thins
Dried mango
Thai curry/ pad Thai meal kits
Apple strudel (frozen)
Lidl special K red berries dupe
Lidl twix dupe- better than the original!
Ground coffee & jasmine tea
If you like those ready made coffee sachets theirs taste just the same as Nescafé
I have never had a problem with their fruit or veg to be honest- it always seems ok.

I like their sugar free orange fizzy drink in a can and their sugar free lemonade in a can.

Pour half and half into a big glass and add ice and a straw.

I also like their cranberry juice added to sugar free lemonade but of course the cranberry isn't sugar free.

A lot has already been mentioned.
• organic tomatoes (they don't keep long so better to use up quickly!)
• Rosemary crackers 😋
• their lemon & herb olives
• their Deluxe range cheese is pretty good.
