Is anyone else's DH a grumpy twat?

NC for this.
My DH and I aren't speaking, he went to the supermarket and rang me and asked if we had chicken nuggets I said not sure but get some anyway because they'll be used through the week. His reply was "tell you what turn the freezer off and we'll just get rid of it" I told him to grow up and hung up, yes immature of me perhaps but he really pisses me off when he's like this.
Anyway he came home, put the shopping away and has now retreated to the bedroom to watch TV,
Is anyone else's DH a miserable twat?

She the above user name. I have lost it daily this week.

NoSquirrels · 08/07/2023 17:18

What a weird overreaction to not knowing if there were nuggets in the freezer. I literally cannot understand his problem.

If he’s always like this what are his good qualities? (Do not say ‘He’s a great dad’ as it’s a complete cop-out non-answer.)

WifeToAManchild · 08/07/2023 17:25

He's not always like this to be fair but now and again acts like a complete child and it really grinds my gears. He'll be pissed off I hung up but I can't deal with that level of immaturity.
His good points, he does have them but hard to think of when I'm so pissed off at him

Yes. I honestly can’t stand much more of it. He’s miserable.

WifeToAManchild · 08/07/2023 17:32

@Annaisatwat I sometimes think life would be easier on my own, it's like having another child honestly. Feel free to rant on here

Christ what an absolute dickhead he sounds. No wonder you're so pissed off with him and don't feel bad for hanging up. I mean really, what were you supposed to say to that?

KingTriton · 08/07/2023 17:33

Oh and mine can be petty, passive aggressive, eye rolling etc so I feel your pain.

7Worfs · 08/07/2023 17:36

If he’s going shopping he needs to know how:

  1. make a list before you go
  2. keep eyes peeled for good deals on items that get used very often

I hate it when men start on a job and then involve their wife for most of it.

My thoughts exactly! It's irrelevant whether there were nuggets, dd likes them so even if we already had some they'd still be used.
Oh and he forgot my wine, on purpose probably. Prick

@7Worfs it wasn't even a full shop, he was only getting bits.

Turn the freezer off!

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 08/07/2023 17:44

Yes, mines got a cob on as he's gone to get dinner from the supermarket and I've asked him (when he said this was what he was going to do) to just buy something, not send me eleventy billion photos of the food aisle like he does every time he goes to the shop. The whole point of him going out is so I can have a sleep as I'm recovering from surgery.

Alargeoneplease89 · 08/07/2023 17:46

I dont understand why he said tell you what turn the freezer off and we'll just get rid of it. Just such an odd response.

JamSandle · 08/07/2023 17:49

What a strange reaction he had.

WifeToAManchild · 08/07/2023 17:49

@Littlemissprosecco it's pathetic isn't it 😂 @Alargeoneplease89 very odd, but definitely the immature kind of thing he says
@Littlemissprosecco must be a man thing, hope you're feeling better soon

OP posts:
WifeToAManchild · 08/07/2023 17:51

I think the reaction is because when I said I didn't know if said there's too much stuff to rummage through to check so I think that's why he said that, still odd and immature though

Not only is DH a grumpy twat, so are both DC. They can all just fuck off and leave me alone with my antibiotics that I can't drink with. Grrrrrrrrr

CurlyhairedAssassin · 08/07/2023 17:56

My husband gets like that too sometimes. Usually happens when hem’s v tired or under stress at work. I just treat it like I would a teenager, inwardly roll my eyes and ignore. I dare say he does the same with me when I have my perimenopause short tempered moments.

it tends to just pass and then it’s business as usual.

MintyCedric · 08/07/2023 17:57

He was…he’s now my ex husband.

Well that’s easily solved. For every meal this week just eat something out the freezer. 😆

Brightandshining · 08/07/2023 17:58

Sometimes but then I can be just as bad occasionally, especially when I'm PMSing.
I guess you have to look at how regularly he's acting like this?
Honestly I love my husband he's my soul mate and best friend.. but he can be a right grumpy arse on occasion. But I imagine he'd say the same about me. Thats marriage.. you see people at their worst sometimes. If its a high percentage of the time that's not acceptable. But I know I can be a right idiot sometimes so I let it slide for him sometimes too!
I do not think you did wrong by hanging up, I would have too because thats the response that merits. He did get a grip and return with the shopping tho, he didn't go full child tantrum. I imagine he'll just calm down about it later.
Deeply annoying tho I feel your pain.

Smoothiecarton · 08/07/2023 18:00

You see these men in the supermarket all the time, photographing the fridges, on the phone asking for guidance .

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 08/07/2023 18:01

I'd be putting the freezer on FB marketplace and tagging him as the collection contact, frankly...
