Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot, with the window flung open so I can hear the birds. Everyone else is still sock on atm. Bliss 😊

I've done one small load of washing already that needs to go on the line for a while, and will put the second in in a mo. Hopefully they'll get a few hours out before it rains. There are a few pots to be done too, but not many so I'll do them shortly so they're out of the way.

We're off into town for lunch today - not a clue where atm. The restaurant I wanted to go back to closed on Monday with immediate effect 😢 I've been browsing menus online & have picked two potential places to try.

We'll more than likely end up at the bakery stall, and fruit stall as well - there's very little fruit left this week (unless you count the millions of apples my dad bought us - they're taking some getting through!) I want a clock for the kitchen while we're there, and we'll probably browse a few other shops.

I'm not sure if the girls are joining us, or going to town together, or doing their own things here 🤷‍♀️ Dd2 did say yesterday she thought they'd be heading to town, so we'll see when they get up.

Tea is likely to be a help yourself affair, or McDonalds for the girls, since we're eating out. I'll pick up some snacks of some sort for later on.

This evening, maybe another row or two of the top I'm crocheting, or maybe read some more of my book. Dd2's friend in the Netherlands is already on their summer holidays so they've been Minecrafting together more often, which is nice & means dd2 doesn't get huffy at me when she has "nothing to do" 🙄 She has plenty - she just doesn't do it 🤷‍♀️ .

What about all of you? 🙂

Right now I'm pondering a second cup of tea, DH is sparko, and the DC are playing on screens.

My plan for the day is to do housework and sew twelve billion badges on DD's guides blanket before camp next w/e.

Also need to either do some work or finish a photo diary project for my mum which is about 3 months overdue.

DH will be working for most of the day and hopefully the DC will relish some downtime, they're both limping towards the end of term.

Prawns and linguini in a creamy sauce for dinner later. It's a popular one in our house. And then maybe a board game.

pyjamasallday22 · 08/07/2023 08:07

I'm laying in bed scrolling at the moment. Dh got up with the baby at 6 and let me have a lie in god love him.

We will take the dogs for a walk then come home and have breakfast. While the baby naps I might go on a little bike ride then come home and shower. This afternoon we need to do some clothes shopping (a suit for ds and a nice dress for me) for a big party in a few weeks so we'll pop into town and then I'll insist he takes me for a coffee somewhere.

Tonight once the baby is in bed it'll be takeaway, film and possibly a few glasses of wine.

Have a lovely day everyone.

sundaymorningcall · 08/07/2023 08:13

I've just wrote a list of jobs to be done around the house this morning. I'm also hoping to get the washing out on the line before the rain comes. I need to collect my car from the garage as it's been making strange noise for a couple of weeks, I have no idea what is wrong or how much it's going to cost me 😫off to work this afternoon until 10pm, I've got lots to do there so it should pass quickly

OldTinHat · 08/07/2023 08:17

Morning all!

I'm still in bed (been awake since 5am, urgh) and am listening to the thunder rolling about.

I must tidy up today and put some washing on. I was told about a new community pantry yesterday so popped there last evening. Amazing service! I've got some great bits to batch cook with, so that's something else to do today.

Other than that, not a lot!

I miss the days of being a mum to two DS and managing/coaching their football team on days like today. It was a reason to get up. Ah well, I'm so proud of the adults they've become!

Happy Saturday all!

lucysmam · 08/07/2023 08:18

Ooh @AllotmentTime your dinner sounds lush! I hope you'll have your feet up, relaxing, at some point today!

@sundaymorningcall I hope your car's not too expensive to sort - my dad's spending something like £500 on his today 🤯

@pyjamasallday22 enjoy your bike ride.

Off to Parkrun in a bit and then shopping and chores. Meeting friends for a drink later this afternoon.

Doggymummar · 08/07/2023 08:19

Thunderbolt and lightning here, I'm off for a Barbie manicure and then read my book

MissyB1 · 08/07/2023 08:21

Morning 😊 I was awake at 5am so annoying! Wish I could learn to sleep later!

Dropping ds at footie training in a bit and Dh and I will walk the dog in a lovely country park. Going out to dinner tonight, looking forward to it.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 08/07/2023 08:23

Washing!

At least until the forecast storm starts. We were on holiday all last week so the usual weekend washing pile is a mountain and I've already got 2 loads on the line. Everyone but the cat and me is still sleeping so I'm enjoying the peace and quiet and a coffee between loads. Once the thunder starts I'll finish my book and write a shopping list as the cupboards are bare.

Mumski45 · 08/07/2023 08:26

Good morning. I'm on my second cuppa. No washing to peg out today as I did 2 loads yesterday. I've been in the garden to feed the fish and water plants. I've set up the ironing for DH to do during the day and now preparing to set off for a nice long bike ride with the local club and leave DH and 2 teen boys to their own devices.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 08/07/2023 08:27

Good morning Lucysmam and all. I, too, woke at five but did manage to get back to sleep, so I'm not long up. It's beautiful blue skies here but thunder is forecast later. I'll do some housework and should do a food shop. I'll decide later if I can be bothered.

TomaytoTomaato · 08/07/2023 08:37

Just got up and had breakfast. DH gone to the gym, DC still in bed. We're all off to the cinema in a bit to watch the new Indiana Jones movie (it was either that or go for a walk - but with the threat of rain/thunder storms we've gone for the dry choice!), followed by a light/late lunch in town and then we will visit MIL in hospital.
This afternoon, DC will probably be online gaming with mates and DH has some work to do so I'll probably do a mix of housework and reading my book.
DH will cook dinner tonight and then we'll probably all watch another movie together!

mamaduckbone · 08/07/2023 09:22

Good morning @lucysmam and all.
I've had a lie in this morning and the house is quiet - Dh is at work and the boys are still in bed - so I'm enjoying a cuppa and some breakfast in peace.

We've had a couple of busy weekends so I'm looking forward to pottering today. I need to wander into town for some bits and pieces and make ds2 a birthday cake for tomorrow.
I'll also go and see my mum at some point. The boys will do their own thing - both have plans to go to the gym, and ds1's gf is away so he'll be around a bit more than usual, although he's still recovering from his DofE expedition last week so that will mostly involve sleeping.

We're out for burgers tonight for ds2's birthday treat - the place he wants to go to isn't open on Sundays and he's decided he wants to go out with his mates tomorrow and have a barbecue in the evening (he's 14) I'll still make a cake and a special breakfast but he's really not that fussed about celebrating, as long as he gets his new trainers, which suits me - there are lots of things I miss about having young children but birthday parties are not one of them.

popandchoc · 08/07/2023 09:30

Dd1 is doing cheerleading tryouts for her next team . Dd2 is currently at swimming lesson then she has tap .
i am meant to be helping at the school summer fair this afternoon but forecast storms it doesn’t look good !

PinkGrapefruitSorbet · 08/07/2023 09:32

Had breakfast already, and tidied up. One load of washing done and hung up inside as storm is forecast (though it's currently beautifully sunny). Just about to drop DS for a day long orchestra rehearsal, then DH and I are going to CostCo! Will pick DS up later, walk the dog again, and then bake a cake as we have guests coming tomorrow. Burgers and salad for tea.

Decafflatteplease · 08/07/2023 10:12

Morning @lucysmam and all!

We are having a cosy pottering day here today, just made pancakes for DC breakfast. I'm still on the couch with a second cup of tea and aforementioned pancakes is nice to chill.

One teen off out on a hobby this afternoon...in a thunderstorm looking at the forecast!

No real plans for the rest of us, little ones will probably go in the garden this morning before the rain for sandpit/mud kitchen.

I'd quite like to get some things bagged up for charity, some I can take to the shop and some are being posted to a charity so might try to do that today.

Not quite decided on dinner yet, either homemade meatballs and spaghetti a firm favourite, or homemade turkey/pork burgers (we don't eat beef) but I haven't got any buns. Decisions decisions 😂

DH out tonight, I'm hoping to settle down with my cross stitch once DC in bed.

Have a lovely Saturday all!

SoWhatEh · 08/07/2023 10:15

Morning OP. That sounds like a lovely day. You have prompted me to stick a washload on.

I've had a lie in to finish reading a thriller. Hadn't read one in years and forgot how addictive they are. DH came to check on me because I was still in bed!

Off to an old friend's birthday drinks later. DS is also out at a friend's birthday. DH is pottering in the garden which is his favourite way to spend the day.

Giggorata · 08/07/2023 10:25

Good morning lucysmam and all.

The weather isn't as blazing as yesterday, although not yet raining.
We have a pile of bricks to move this morning, to make way for a friend in his mini digger to break up the ground.
We are having a new dog run slightly moved to the left and of course, it isn't at all plain sailing.
The dogs are completely bewildered at the loss of their special place and don't know what to do. The old one has actually peed inside a couple of times, which I am hoping is confusion rather than illness.
I managed to get a rather magnificent set of wrought iron gates second hand, much better than the usual prison vibe of dog runs, so looking forward to getting it all finished.
if it doesn't tip down, I might carry on with a bit of yard work.

We have peppered cold beef and salad planned for dinner.

I think a quiet night in for me, might start on the new Witcher series.

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 08/07/2023 10:32

I was up early to feed our new kitten (and of course the older cats pestered me until I fed them too). Then back to bed until the dog woke up wanting his breakfast - so it was up to feed him, sort the litter trays, run the vacuum round, shower and make a coffee.

Since then I've just been watching the cats play (they're all great friends already), watching TV and drinking coffee. It's a lazy day for us here as this week has been a bit crazy with work. DH is currently out with the dog before the storms are due to hit us in an hour or so.

Simonjt · 08/07/2023 10:34

We’re camping in Yorkshire for a few nights, we arrived quite late last night as traffic wasn’t great. We’re off for a little walk to Malham cove soon, then we’re going to meet some friends and go to a ninja warrior/bounce place with the children.

The weather is holding out so far, the campsite is nice, there were quite a few DfE children (now gone) but they were very quite last night. The showers are token only, the tokens are cash only, we only had a single pound coin between us so we had to all squish in the shower for our seven minutes this morning, the toddler escaped under the shower door and I dropped my towel on the wet floor, so that went well!

On the drive up I managed to scrape the van on a wall, obviously I managed to get the entire passenger side, not just a bit of it, so that’ll be a pain and very expensive to sort out.

lucysmam · 08/07/2023 10:34

@Decafflatteplease meatballs would be the winner here! 😋

I've just run out to fetch in my washing as the heavens opened...thankfully mostly dry & will finish off on the airer for a few hours. I was hoping for a fine day tomorrow for the towels but expect I'll end up tumbling them.

I've tidied round, washed up, and put several items back where they belong. Also cleared out my handbag and purse and re-stocked my emergency handbag chocolate stash - dd2's just said normal mum service is resumed 🤣

Working this morning. Dealing with our bastard phones that don't work rightly. After, tidying up.

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 08/07/2023 11:16

Morning!
I planned to do the garden today and hung some washing out, cue a thunderstorm so mad dash to bring the washing in, garden will have to be another day.
I've booked Christmas panto tickets this morning and taken DD to work. House needs a good clean so may aswell crack on with that seeing as the weathers rubbish.
Tonight I'm out with my mum for food

lucysmam · 08/07/2023 11:18

@CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease my garden needs sorting out, desperately! My friend and her ds are going to come and help me with some of it so I'm ignoring it until then 🙈

Morning @lucysmam. I'm having a lazy start to my Saturday. Just enjoying a second cuppa - the second cuppa is always the best Smile.

Heading off to visit my Dad in a bit and we'll go for lunch.

DD (young adult) is working so I'll pick her up after work, on my way home from Dad's house. She's a social butterfly atm and is off to a friend's birthday party tonight.
