If you are plus size do you genuinely feel confident...

in a bikini?

I'm watching body positivity videos on TIKTOK (followed 2 women, now my fyp is flooded) and wishing I felt as confident as they look

I will be wearing a bikini when I go away next week as I hate swimming costumes but I absolutely won't feel confident

Totally confident, but bikini's have never suited me - always a G cup even when size 10 - so I'll be rocking a tankini next week!

Hotpinkangel19 · 07/07/2023 21:28

Size 18-20, and no!

IHeartGeneHunt · 07/07/2023 21:30

I'm size 18 and yes.

Workyticket · 07/07/2023 21:30

I'm a 36j - hoping the boobs distract from my worst part a little - my tummy!

I wear high waisted ones to hide my belly. I wouldn't be comfortable in a normal bikini. Unfortunately I am apple shaped and all my weight goes to my belly.

ImSidneyFuckingPrescott · 07/07/2023 21:37

No, although I will be wearing one on my holiday. Up until my last child I was much slimmer though, my current weight doesn't feel like me.

Roussette · 07/07/2023 21:38

Go for it!

I am 60s, have good skin, not wrinkly, always wear a bikini and I like my body. Not thin. Voluptuous but not huge. Size 14 on a good day. I wear high waisted bikinis that I can make waisted or roll down

Hate swimsuits and tankinis, got sweat bumps

IncompleteSenten · 07/07/2023 21:38

No. I'm not confident. No chance would I ever wear a bikini. It's probably illegal for me to wear one tbh. Last thing the beach needs is to be full of people throwing up.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 07/07/2023 21:39

No but I have been called fat brazenly in public and that knocks a person

Roussette · 07/07/2023 21:41

I feel so sorry for posters that can't embrace their figures
Just got back from hols, saw fabulous bigger women in bikinis, they looked fab!

Stormydanielss · 07/07/2023 21:43

I don't wear a bikini as I prefer to be more covered - not for embarrassment- just a choice
I'm an 18-20
I've got a tankini top which shows off my boobs great and under the knee tight swim leggings so I can dip then walk round the town etc
I'm 46 and I really don't care what anyone else thinks - it's taken a long time to get here and glad I finally am
I bet you'll look lovely and feel good once in the sun ☀️

Xmasbaby11 · 07/07/2023 21:43

I’m a 20 and would never wear a bikini. I’m very broad, not curvy, don’t have any slim areas or big boobs to show off. I have seen bigger women look great in swimwear but not my shape.

morelippy · 07/07/2023 21:45

I'm a 12. 10 on a good day. I'd no more wear a bikini than wear my bra and pants to the supermarket.

My problem I know.

ssd · 07/07/2023 21:46

Fuck no

NegativNancy · 07/07/2023 21:46

I'm size 26 so wouldn't wear a bikini but am going to try a tankini soon.
I know the promotion of plus size models causes many to froth about poor role mkdels/glorifying obesity, etc. but seeing models in my size wearing swimwear genuinely gives me a bit more confidence.

Dalekjastninerels · 07/07/2023 21:48

About my boobs absolutely. belly no way, bum ok.

Apple shaped; boobs best feature, belly worst as not enough nipping in at the waist for my own liking and lower belly sticks out; and bum good from side view (not flat) but the sides look square from the back-hip dips?

I focus on body neutrality, my body is for me not for others' approval if liked good if not not my issue. It is my casing to move me around independently.

saveforthat · 07/07/2023 21:49

I wouldn't wear a bikini I'm currently a size 20 and losing weight slowly. I'm full of confidence but I don't think fat bodies are attractive how ever much you embrace it. I don't want to be skinny, just a healthy weight.

NowYouSee · 07/07/2023 21:51

Might it help to think through a lens of body neutrality?

Rather than being on a confident to ashamed scale, I have now managed to move my mindset on what I wear and how I present more towards thinking that my body is just a vehicle and I will wear what is suitable for the thing I am doing. Few people are actually that interested in a larger woman wearing swimwear in my experience and those that are will almost universally keep their thoughts to themselves.

Yes, size 16/18
I bought an Elomi bikini which is really supportive and the bottoms are flattering

Banrockmystation · 07/07/2023 21:52

I’m a 16 sometimes 14 but unfortunately apple shaped so have a massive stomach with pooch almost like a bum! My legs and the rest of me all in proportion but because of my shape I’m not that confident.
Apple shape is so hard to dress

Workyticket · 07/07/2023 21:54

I've got a few bikini tops - elomi, pour moi etc

It's bottoms I struggle so, so much with because of my apron belly 😩

Kind of ... I'm in my 60s and totally aware that I am invisible. Don't give a fuck anymore

You’re not plus sized so why do you feel the need to post?

Because she has fingers?
