Do your adult sons text you much?

My mum and I text each other randomly, pointless little things really, not full conversations but just regular back and forth, sharing what we're doing or a random thought. I know a few friends do similar with their mums.

I'm a mum of boys, and I wonder if it's the little things like this I perhaps won't get? I don't want my kids to be glued to me my whole life, but it'd be nice to remain close. They are currently very little and in the centre of their entire universe so the thought of them one day being like my husband and barely communicating with their mum makes me a bit weepy!

My adult sons text me every other day and phone about twice a week - one more than the other.

My mother has that kind of texting all day long with my siblings… she has tried with me too but it drives me totally crazy! I don’t need to know if she is at the supermarket or what the hell she is cooking for dinner so I just ignore her or tell her that I am well but busy!

I have a son, he texts me when he has something he want to share with me (as I do myself) and rings me once a week on Tuesdays. I don’t want to be like my mother so I let him be.

DS hates texting, but phones about once a week.

We do have a Family WhatsApp with DS, DDIL & DH & I, he sometimes answers on that.

DDIL texts at least once a day though.
