When's the last time you had a good laugh with your partner? Did something silly and fun?

Not a taat but it did make me wonder if there are people out there in happy relationships who never have any childish moments of pure fun with their partner and if that's actually the norm and not, like in my house, us pratting about like fools.

We mess about a lot, it’s one of the things that I love most about my DH as he brings a lightness to me that I really need as I can too serious

OhBling · 06/07/2023 11:33

Lots of people don't need childish moments of pure fun.

Having said that, Dh and I have lots of inside jokes and have been known to fall about giggling hysterically inappropriately about something or other. Always awkward if the DC then want to know why we're laughing.

Juanmartinez · 06/07/2023 11:37

My friend and her husband have an air horn that they sneak up on each other with and give it a blast .
Everyone finds different things funny, it's nice to have fun, no matter what form it takes.

Objectionhearsayspeculation · 06/07/2023 11:40

This won't go down well on MN but DH farted really loudly the other night and scared one of the sleeping cats so much she jumped halfway across the room from the back of the sofa then skidded off across the kitchen. We both laughed so hard we cried then started to cough and wheeze which made us laugh more. Dd1 actually came downstairs to see what was going on and indignantly rescued said cat while threatening to disown us.

Dh and I are a big fans of schadenfreude. Particularly love to watch grand designs and watch people piss all their money away on concrete kitchens that don't get finished.

Justcallmebebes · 06/07/2023 11:44

My partner and I have a lot of fun together. We have a v similar sense of humour and bounce off each other really well.

I think it helps that we're older so don't have the daily stress of young kids and we've learnt not to stress the small stuff

gogomoto · 06/07/2023 11:50

We went out last week and there was a cheesy dj in the pub, people dancing on tables etc. it's of laughter then!

Ibloodymissgluten · 06/07/2023 11:53

Never, he’s a bloody misery. Always a face like thunder.

I actually used to be a comedian.

Neekoh · 06/07/2023 11:56

My DH and I aren't into that sort of fun, but I can still totally understand that for some couples that joyful 'childish' fun and playfulness together is something they both enjoy, and engaging in it nurtures their relationship which is a great thing.

DH and I do joke, have fun and engage in other types of playfulness, though. We like to be actively happy together.

MaryJean87 · 06/07/2023 12:00

He chases me every time he's behind me on the stairs and I always end up screaming even though I know it's him. We jump out at each other and tickle each other as well.

bringincrazyback · 06/07/2023 12:01

Last night when we were both reading the comedy reviews for the book 'How to Avoid Huge Ships' on Amazon. Cracked us both up. 😄

SallyWD · 06/07/2023 12:01

Me and DH don't often roar with laughter but we're always quite silly and jokey with each other.

CornishGem1975 · 06/07/2023 12:04

Most days!

Shoxfordian · 06/07/2023 12:07

We have lots of little in-jokes and we laugh together all the time 😄

I don't believe your first sentence! There must be a lot of uptight miseries about!

Newtrix · 06/07/2023 13:38

We're very silly together, there's a lot of laughter and happiness in our marriage. Life is too short to be boring.

Krustykrabpizza · 06/07/2023 13:44

We take edibles together 🤷

Worldgonecrazy · 06/07/2023 13:48

All the time. We are always having fun and playing. If you ever see grown adults walking along walls or fallen trees or dancing like we were 18 again, that’s us.

Humour and fun are subjective, just because someone doesn't enjoy the same kind of fun as someone else doesn't make them an uptight misery.

I don't enjoy pranks, being chased, tickled, or having someone jump out at me. I don't find it funny, but many other things have me in hysterics.

DH and I are idiots together and laugh a lot. He's my favourite person to just be stupid with.

Us too. I often refer to my OH as 'my favourite idiot'.

I'm an idiot too, which helps. 😄

My favourite stupidness is "Do you like my dance?", where one of us will do a dance and the other person says it's great.

Closely followed by "Do you like my song?"

ThunderclapCloud · 06/07/2023 14:19

My DH makes me laugh every single day 💕 It's not slapstick, just very funny. Some people would describe me as serious I think, but every now and again i meet someone who I have really good banter with.

We find farts very funny, and added bonus if it makes a pet jump like @Objectionhearsayspeculation's cat!
I also agree with @GalileoHumpkins that humour is subjective!

😂 I love this idea!!

We once had a snake which jumps out of a tube. So I ate a stack of pringles. Shoved the prank snake in. Offered DH a pringle, he opened it and the prank snake jumped out with a squeak. Was so funny.

Where can I get an air horn which is a bit quieter and suitable for internal pranks??
