What are your favourite small items from IKEA?

I'm finally getting round to ordering a socktopus. As I'm paying for delivery, was wondering if there's anything else I should add to my order.

What are your favourite small products from IKEA that I might want?

They have a great mortar and pestle, total steal for the size, you'd have to pay two or three tines as much anywhere else.

2 more socktopuses - I have three and would like another one. They are great!

I came to say about the food condoms and bag sealer clips.
Not deliverable but I always get a bag of frozen pancakes when I see them in their food job. I know homemade are better but they're so handy to chuck in the microwave to defrost with some frozen fruit for a hungry toddler.

Their garlic press is great.

Sexy action shots of my light 😂

Love the light but that cord would drive me crackers!

A little wooden mobile phone holder - perfect for putting my phone in when I want to listen to music or watch a film while I’m cooking.

You're already getting a socktapus - we use 3 and when old ones die, we keep the pegs to add to existing ones when the pegs occasionally split.

I always buy the sandwich bags, I usually get through 1 box of the mid size but 2 each of the tiny size and large size (leftovers; and packing clothes or doing big batches of Mediterranean veggie's respectively). Each box has 2 different sizes in it.

Packs of tea lights for our oil burners and small candles. And the candles in glass containers are also very good.

Packs of serviettes. Very good value and useful.

They're my go to's for consumables - we get lots of other bits as time goes by. But don't forget the meatballs and touring the food market for Swedish fish or frozen cinnamon swirl buns...

It runs on batteries too so can be cordless! 😁

Agree about the pestle and mortar in granite. It's reversible too, so you can turn it upside down and use the short end of the pestle to really grind stuff down finely.

Another unconventional use is to almost flatten a wedding ring. Xh spent an hour one evening, boasting how I'd promised to obey, and how he had never kept his vows to me. He's an alcoholic and was pissed and particularly unpleasant that night. Fuelled by hurt, in 5 seconds I was in the kitchen wedding ring a flat band, being pounded into an ellipse.

Very good for the soul, highly recommendedGrin

Do Daim bars count?

minipie · 27/06/2023 21:47

The glass tupperware with lids. I know lock & lock do similar but they have annoying edges which catch food and look less smart if serving in the glass dish. The ikea ones are fab.

Pack of cheap wooden chopping boards.

I now need the food condoms….

Gilead · 27/06/2023 21:53

I want food condoms, just so that I can say to people’l have food condoms, you know!’

Washing up brush with a sucker on the end to stick it to your draining board.

These are freakin’ genius

SittinOnTheDock · 27/06/2023 23:36

Thanks all.

Ordered the grater (used to have one as a student), dimpa, phone holder, food bags, food condoms and the microwave lid.

The pancake frying pan is epic as is the cheapo water bottle
