NB v distressing content

The jury was asked to consider an alternative verdict of infanticide but found her guilty of murder. I’m surprised by this- surprised she wasn’t just charged with infanticide in the first place, to be honest. It’s a terrible case.

some people just can’t accept that some people particularly women or girls can do awful unforgivable acts so make any excuse possible. I’ve worked studying abuse and neglect for a long time and have heard excuses being made time and time again for people. Usually by people who have read something on the internet and then think they know best and feel they are able to diagnose mental health issues. It’s infuriating. Some people are just unpleasant people unfortunately in the world. Don’t hear people diagnosing sociopathic or psychopathic tendencies on here much do you buy yet sometimes a reality.

You need to understand the facts of the case and why it was classed as murder not just post a link and think your a legal expert.

What is her sentence? I'm glad she was found found guilty of murder. She had options of things to do with her baby other than murder it.

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 27/11/2023 23:24

I agree with the murder charge. Her actions were vile as are all the apologists for her, desperate god knows why to deflect blame.

I know. It's disgusting how the apologists make excuses. It's almost as if they think because she's female she should be forgiven anything even something as sickening and depraved as murdering her own child as it was born. She knew what she was doing. Put her away and never set her free.

Such a sad case. Don’t understand why not infanticide. I also can’t help but consider it next to the woman who had an abortion at
32-34 weeks. Both sad cases, both women wanted to kill their foetuses - so if Paris had taken abortion pills 24 hours before labour - she would have been charged with a much lesser offence and got 10 years less?

Poor girl.

Sorry to revive the thread,, She was 15, over the age of criminal responsibility. She killed a baby, a baby who had been born. Not a foetus.

How can you say she shouldn't be in prison? It's hardly feminist to imply women and girls shouldn't be held to legall standards around murder.

Hello zombie thread. Looks like she will appeal claiming misdirection as to the alternative infanticide charge. To convict her of murder, the prosecution needed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that it was not infanticide. The jury possibly did not have this adequately explained and decided between the prosecution and defence psychiatric experts on a balance of probabilities basis, instead of giving the onus of proof to the prosecution.

Paris Mayo is serving a minimum 12 years behind bars

Please do extensive research on infanticide and denied pregnancy.

The article is horrendous
She assaulted the baby so violently.
Poor little dote.

She should be locked away forever. 15 or not. You know right from wrong.

Yes poor baby, didn't deserve that. Where was the father?
