Can someone please explain the Russia/Wagner thing really simply please?

I've tried reading up but it seems to assume a basic level of knowledge - I don't. All I know is Russia invaded Ukraine and I have no idea who or what Wagner is but they are now invading Russia?!

It's a good thing in that it will hopefully take a lot of pressure off Ukraine, and may allow the Ukrainian forces to make some significant advances at less cost.

Yes it seems its not a simple goodie vs baddie situation but I guess politics and war is complicated

but as much as I'd live Putin to be 'taken out' THIS situation could lead to things escalating.

We can speculate much! I don;t think it is would have worked that way. The Russian political system would have combusted if mutiny happened. They would be in turmoil, soldiers would have retreat from Ukraine and end of war.

or maybe not with military control. A country with Military power is the worst type of place. Yes, Wagner is a scary person, they all are.

I think "being confused" is pretty much the appropriate state at the end of today, @darkmodeon

No one fully understands why all this has just happened. But listening to Frank Gardiner et al, they seem to think it has damaged both Putin and Prigozhin.

I think it's still a 'wait & see'. I don't trust any of them as far as I could throw them.

I'm currently being tortured by Glastonbury and for some reason Lana del Rey is late on stage & BBC filling with Guns & Roses, so not see any updates for a few hours. LDR needs to hurry up - I need my bed & child (17, not mine) doesn't want to watch it in her own
