I only catch Vernon occasionally but he has a really nice style and manner.

TBH I think you don’t always realise that someone should have moved on a long time ago until they do. Ken did alright, not knocking him, but tbh it was time for a change.

I'm sure Ken Bruce was a similar age or even younger maybe when he started

They've got the demographic right for the new round of DJ that have taken over in the last 5 years or so

We'll be listening to them for the next 20-30 years

I'm loving Vernon. He is such a relaxed and natural presenter. Scott Mills on the other hand tries too hard and makes me cringe so much, I cant listen to him any more. Scott needs a co-presenter to bounce off

Yes! You've hit the nail on the head. Scott needs someone to bounce off and calm him down a bit like he did on his radio 1 show.

I used to listen to R2 all day. In last few years have started switching over to R4 and now only listen to Liza Tarbuck on a Saturday night. I’m 57 so obviously too old for R2, as far as the bosses are concerned.

Tried but couldn’t stick it. I now listen to Graham Norton and others on Virgin and Ken and Simon on Greatest Hits. Or it’s Radio 4.
When my DDs were small we never switched Radio 2 off. Terry, even Chris, Ken and Simon on drive time. And then , the 7pm slot, when I was invariably driving them back from gym or swimming or something, it would be one of the ‘genres’ presenters - Mike Harding folk, Mark Radcliffe, Jamie Cullum jazz, Whispering Bob rock - even Desmond Carrington Friday night is music night - they loved them all even though we probably wouldn’t ordinarily have chosen many of those genres ourselves (wasn’t even that long ago!). Don’t listen to any Radio 2 at all anymore. That’s ok, everything changes. Wonder what’s happened to their listening figures over the last ten years or so though…

I've only just moved to R2 with Scott Mills. I am 58. Never listened to it before. Not had a chance to listen to Vernon yet due to work. Not keen on sara Cox. She's very boring...didnt like her when she was on R1 either.
Still on R1 with Greg James in the mornings and Clara Amfo in the evenings.
I do quite like Jeremy Vine occasionaly because of the phone ins.

I only listen to liza tarbuck now on R2. Otherwise it's greatest hits during the week (despite the adverts and oldie playlists, as it's the djs that I tune in for) - oh or Graham Norton on virgin at the weekend.

Haven’t really listened to much of Vernon yet, but dh seems to like him.

Listen to about 30 minutes of Scott Mills a day (on way to work), and am warming to him.

Spooney was on this afternoon today. He accidentally mentioned radio 1, and then said he hasn’t been on radio 1 for nearly 20 years. That made me feel old!

i gave Greatest Hits, Virgin etc, a go out of curiosity but got fed up of adverts, and the frequent promotion of their main stars. It was almost as if other presenters didn’t exist.

Although I liked Ken, people seem to forget there was life before Ken, which some of us remember.

Vernon has settled in now so I'm quite liking him. The jury is still out re Scott Mills but he's not Steve Wright so that's got to be a good thing. I love DJ Spoony standing in though. I have tried to listen to GHR but the combo of adverts and the playlists is pretty unbearable. I'm 59 and don't feel too old for R2.

I like Vernon! And the new quiz. It was time for Ken to go.

I loved Ken but I like Vernon. He's a fresh change. Scott's good too. So pleased Steve has gone. I've never enjoyed his shows.

I enjoy the new round of presenters. Wasn’t much of a Ken Bruce fan and couldn’t stand Steve Wright.
I also find Liza Tarbuck intensely irritating.
The new set of presenters are all my generation.

I think Vernon is doing ok, but am I the only one missing Gary Davis? All the girls at work loved him?

More and more I'm listening to 6 music. Vernon is ok I guess - can't stand Scott Mills. And I never ever ever could stand Jeremy Vine

I'm loving radio 2 now - it's all the DJs from when I was young and listening to radio 1!

Just wish they'd update the playlist and allow the DJs to play music of their own choosing rather than music from the 60s!

I listen to Chris Moyles on Radio X at breakfast, but then love Scott, Vernon, Sara & Jo Wiley!

I only listen to Trevor Nelson on R2 now, I like his manner and the music he plays. Listen to podcasts or my own Spotify playlists during the day now.

Why should Ken Bruce have moved on? He was excellent at his job.

i cannot stand the sound of VK’s voice tbough, haven’t listened to him for longer than a minute. The other day when I had Zoe on the Sounds app, and couldn’t get to the phone quick enough to turn him off, I just cringed with embarrassment for him.

He’s not in the same league as Ken. Doesn’t have that easy, relaxed manner. He missed queuing the record so there was dead airtime. Repeated the same sentence twice trying to sound all jolly but actually just isn’t very quick-witted. Just cringe.

Ken was and is a consummate professional.

He could talk to anyone. “ah so you’re a grave-digger? I bet it’s hard work when the ground’s frozen?” Never missed a beat, never sounded nervous, didn’t insult anyone or make them feel undervalued.

I just listen to podcasts now when he’s on.
I quite like Scott Mills though.

Yes Trevor Nelson’s good; plays some excellent music. Am also enjoying DJ Spoony for Scott Mills.

I mean, wtf does vernon Kaye know about music? Why couldn’t they get someone who knows their music?
