Tummy Tuck consultation

TomAllenWife · 19/06/2023 18:19

Been for my consult now
Still undecided, cost, pain, being in bed for 2 weeks 😩
Is it pointless at nearly 50 when everything else is starting to sag & crinkle?

Anyone else considering?
Or completed their TT journey?

Had it done almost three years ago, best thing I've ever done and I'm just annoyed with myself for not doing it years ago.

The op itself was fine, the first few days sort of brutal, but if I had to do it again I would.

It's changed my life really.

TomAllenWife · 19/06/2023 18:26

Do you mind me asking how old you are?

OP posts:
SaveMeFromForearms · 19/06/2023 18:28

44, think I weighed maybe 13 and a half stone at the time, lost 4 pounds in the op and have kept losing since.

I had mine about 15 years ago. I was home and mobilising within 3 or 4 days. No regrets at all - in fact I would have it done again if I could afford it

Madamecastafiore · 19/06/2023 18:31

Had mine at 44 too. Spent a week in bed but then could move around pretty easily but I was very very fit beforehand. Was to remove C-section overhang. No idea how much I lost as I just wanted the empty bag of skin whipped off.

What do you hate about your tummy?

TomAllenWife · 19/06/2023 18:33

I'm only just over 9 st after recently losing a stone but sadly my tummy is always going to look like a satchel

WonderDays · 19/06/2023 19:03

I was 48
You won’t be in bed for two weeks, 2 days yes but not two weeks.

TomAllenWife · 19/06/2023 19:04

@WonderDays did it make the rest of you look ok?

I'm imagining it like when you decorate one room then all the others look like they need doing too 😂

OP posts:
TomAllenWife · 19/06/2023 19:06

@WonderDays we are the same age then

How long ago was yours?

The surgeon said I can get up to eat and use the bathroom but other than that nothing until after 2 weeks and a wound check

WonderDays · 19/06/2023 19:16

Mine was six years ago, it made the rest of me look good. I had an apron of skin that didn’t feel like was part of me so I had it chopped off.

The first few days aren’t fun, by day six I was feeling a lot better and went to the cinema on day 8. By day 13 I was driving. By three weeks I was very nearly normal.

I had different advice to you, listen to your surgeon but for me I actually felt more comfortable doing a bit of pottering especially after day 6.

TheOwlChronicles · 19/06/2023 19:25

I had it done a couple of years ago aged 48.

You're not in bed for 2 weeks - 3 or 5 days maximum. I can't deny that it's very hard for the first week or so but every day there's an improvement

I'll look out a before and after if you fancy seeing it?

TheOwlChronicles · 19/06/2023 19:26

And you risk a blood clot by just staying in bed! Who's your surgeon

boboshmobo · 19/06/2023 19:27

I saved up my £12 k and went for the consultation

I'm too scared I'll die or get an infection 🙈

TomAllenWife · 19/06/2023 19:28

@TheOwlChronicles yes please if you don't mind sharing

I have a bit of a history which may be why he's being cautious
I'm sure I'll get stockings and clexane

Have you seen a few different surgeons? Might be that this one doesn’t click with you.

TomAllenWife · 19/06/2023 19:30

I saw another one a while ago.

This guy specialises in tummy tucks

I was 51 when I had my TT. One of the best things I ever did. My muscles never went back together after being stretched so much with pregnancies. Diastasis Rectis was diagnosed which caused a hernia that the NHS wouldn't rectify unless it was causing problems. My brilliant surgeon sewed the muscles back together in the TT operation. I am so happy to not have that bulge and apron of skin. Just make sure you take your time recovering.

I was told to sleep sitting up and not fully stretch, but to walk regularly (also helps if you get constipated through painkillers).

I used to set a timer and walk for five minutes each hour just around the house, then after about ten days I was able to go up the stairs.

TheOwlChronicles · 19/06/2023 21:57

@TomAllenWife here you go. First pic was the day before and second pic was 8 days later

TheOwlChronicles · 19/06/2023 21:58

And I know it looks like stone's worth of difference between the two pics but it really isn't ! They're just over a week apart

Best thing I ever did for myself.

TheCig · 19/06/2023 22:00

Wow @TheOwlChronicles good result

TheCig · 19/06/2023 22:04

How much did you weigh before and after @TheOwlChronicles

TomAllenWife · 19/06/2023 22:05

Omg @TheOwlChronicles that is amazing 😱
You must be so pleased with the results

If your weight goes up & down now is it just normal, when I gain weight now it just means my overhang is bigger and heavier

OP posts:
TomAllenWife · 19/06/2023 22:06

Jeez can't stop looking at that pic!!!!! Fabulous result

RandomMess · 19/06/2023 22:11

I want this done but it just feels ridiculously vain.
