Straciatella gelato
Mary’s milk bar milk ice cream.
Haagen Das Macadamia Nut Brittle.

Haagen-Dazs Macadamia Nut Brittle is SO GOOD.

And it’s no longer available. Waaah.

I mean, you can sometimes get it in those assorted multipacks of mini tubs, but it’s only enough to wet your tongue and no more.

The mini tubs mock me.

Apple pie or lemon meringue from Wallings (if you’re a Lancashire lass, or lad, you’ll understand)
I prefer Wallings than Frederick's!
However I had the best Salted caramel ice cream last night and it was a Mr Whippy one from Blackpool pier!

I used to work in a touristy type shop selling ice cream in the late 1970s. and I can assure you that my favourite flavours were TutiFruiti (not seen it these days, had dried fruit pieces in it - cherries etc) and Pistachio. Nowadays I do like Beechdean Honey & Ginger, and anything by Henley Gelato https://www.gelatohenley.co.uk/category/gelato
Current fave is the coconut, and the Eton Mess: thankful they've a shop in the town centre.

Gelato by Gelato Henley

Strawberry cones. Don't need to be expensive, I like own brands.

Jigglypufff · 20/06/2023 10:38

@TheMurderousGoose

I know! I buy the mini tubs if they are on offer as I miss it.

It was such a good flavour.

SkeeSkeeGoGo · 20/06/2023 10:40

My local gelato place makes the nicest coffee gelato. I am truly, madly, in love with it.

Beeswood · 20/06/2023 10:53

Chocolate with chocolate topping!

OldHouseLover · 20/06/2023 10:56

Pistachio all the way! But I am fussy, it has to be proper gelato and I don't like the bright green ones that have fake almond flavouring.

It should be a pale, creamy green, and ideally in Italy. When it's good, it's out of this world!

At the cinema we sometimes get Ben & Jerry's 2 scoop tub, 1 scoop of cherry garcia and 1 scoop of peanut cup.

And I am very fond of an old fashioned 99 in nice weather

OldHouseLover · 20/06/2023 10:58

Oh and recently I was in Dublin and had Murphy's Dingle seasalt which was outrageously good. I had 2 scoops, 1 seasalt and the other smooth chocolate. Dh had seasalt and butterscotch and they were up there with some of the nicest icecream we've had in a long time

CurlewKate · 20/06/2023 11:05

@Baldieheid "At a proper ice cream parlour, like the one in St Andrews, all bets are off. Something fruity though. Raspberry, bramble, peach, lemon curd...all enjoyed immensely."

Is it still Janettas? "types through a hazy mist of nostalgia"

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 20/06/2023 11:21

Pistachio. Not that it's ever available over here. The hotel we stayed in last year had it every other night on the AI buffet so I ate tons of the stuff then

Occitane · 19/06/2023 22:15

I would say Joe's too. Also dole whip, pineapple flavour, from disneyworld.

Oh how could I forget the pineapple dole whip and even the pineapple dole whip float!!

Mogloveseggs · 20/06/2023 11:25

99 in a waffle cone with choc sauce and nuts from the ice cream van. Heaven.

haggisaggis · 20/06/2023 11:35

A fruit farm near us whizzes strawberries into vanilla ice cream - it's really good.

BarbaraofSeville · 20/06/2023 11:53

The best I've ever had was lemon (ice cream not sorbet) with pieces of stem ginger from Mahon in Menorca.

I haven't been able to find it again, despite looking in about 10 other Menorcan ice cream parlours and I can't remember where it came from.

I've started buying lemon ice cream in the UK, letting it soften a bit then mixing in stem ginger myself in an attempt to recreate it.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/06/2023 11:54

Not mad about any of it, TBH. I do like a mango sorbet, though.

Deathraystare · 20/06/2023 16:01

Coffee is my favourite and it is so rare!
I also like vanilla. Honey and ginger but prefer sorbet lemon sorbet particularly.

I loathe all the over sweet ones the salted caramels and the cookie dough and fudge brownie types which are the ones usually sold in the shops.

merrymelodies · 20/06/2023 16:04

I love ALL ice-cream but probably strawberry is my favourite. Vanilla's good, too.

Baffledismydefault · 20/06/2023 16:14

The newish Häagen-Dazs macaron ones. In a bowl, half strawberry/ half chocolate. Also love their Dulce de leche but rarely find it.

Londontomadrid · 20/06/2023 16:30

Hazelnut definitely. Pistachio a close second. Also the Haagen Dazs macadamia brittle but it's really hard to find :(

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 20/06/2023 16:31

favourite ever pumpkin and amaretto in Soave
generally pistachio, cherry, honey and ginger or coffee, not keen on chocolate toffee, salted caramel., cookie dough or mint

Flobb · 20/06/2023 18:01

Another vote for Hockings

Occitane · 20/06/2023 19:32

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 20/06/2023 11:23

Oh how could I forget the pineapple dole whip and even the pineapple dole whip float!!

You can also get dole whip in Chester Zoo!

louderthan · 20/06/2023 19:36

Either a classic magnum, mint choc chip cone or a mr whippy with a flake. Preferably two flakes
