Thanks for the heads up. I was not-watching Gavin and Stacey for the millionth time then….

Paddingtonthebear · 17/06/2023 21:22

Of all the lost talents, his death still makes me so sad

jojo1067 · 17/06/2023 21:30

Watching it now. An amazing talent with a great voice. I wasn't a fan, he just doesn't do it for me. But I can see why people like him.

AnyFucker · 17/06/2023 21:49

Absolutely flawless live ❤️

Have been a George Micheal fan since the very first Wham ! days

dubyalass · 17/06/2023 21:54

I'm watching too - he was brilliant. Let's Go Outside is guaranteed to get me dancing.

Paddingtonthebear · 17/06/2023 21:59

His version of Somebody to Love is ridiculously good. Such a beautiful voice and makes you believe every word he sings.

Also watching. I miss him so much Sad

Cathotels · 17/06/2023 22:01

Watching too and cried at a different corner.

Saw him live twice and still the best concert I’ve ever been to

Taytocrisps · 17/06/2023 22:02

I've recorded it. There's a second programme on at 10.40 - 'George Michael: Live in London'. And I saw something about a Netflix documentary.

louderthan · 17/06/2023 22:03

I cried and cried that Christmas Day 😢

Meandyouandyouandme · 17/06/2023 22:04

Watched it and sang along, he was such a beautiful man inside and out, miss him so much. Also a big fan since Wham! days, me and my friend would pretend to be George and Andrew with tennis rackets for guitars, absolutely loved them.

Meandyouandyouandme · 17/06/2023 22:05

He’d have been 60 this week ☹️

Somethingintheattic · 17/06/2023 22:12

'Freedom' - watching this a bit out of step. Love George - I'm 60 so he's been around for most of my adult life.

Agree . I saw him twice on his Faith tour and he was absolutely brilliant! Shall watch this on catch up tomorrow 💕

Boopeedoop · 17/06/2023 22:14

Adored George. What a kind soul. A Different corner is one of my favourite songs. When I saw the video when I was young, I begged my mum for a white bedroom!

Somethingintheattic · 17/06/2023 22:16

And he wrote a different corner when he was only 18 - true talent.

JRHartleysmum · 17/06/2023 22:18

Didn’t he write careless whisper on the bus ?

Taytocrisps · 17/06/2023 22:19

He was incredibly talented. I really regret not seeing him in concert - with Wham! or as a solo performer.

Just amazing, I’ve spent most of the programme working out how old he was when he wrote some of these songs, so young and so talented.

Me too.

I watched the first programme last night before bed. 'Careless Whisper' sounds every bit as good today as it did back in '84. Which is almost 40 years ago! The programme was put together well. There was a good mix of songs from his Wham! days, his solo career, his duets with other performers, his charity work etc. The only omissions were 'Last Christmas' and 'Do they know it's Christmas'. I wonder what his own favorite song was? I didn't realize he'd fallen out with Elton John. I'm not sure what DCats made of my singing Grin.

Saved the second programme for tonight.

BeretRaspberry · 18/06/2023 09:43

Just watching it. He was a beautiful (inside and out), kind and talented man. I always say he was my first love! I remember asking Father Christmas for him to come to my house instead of a Christmas present one year.

I was heartbroken when he died but I’m so glad I got to see him live.
