What did you discover about your car?

Pinching this idea from a similar thread started by someone else on another subject.
Since DH and I went from 2 cars to 1 last year - I noticed when hoovering his car after a recent trip to the tip that there are airline style trays attached to the back of the front seats, there are also two storage areas underneath your feet in the back seats, the console at the front has two bigger separate compartments beneath the gear stick. In the ashtray were two pound coins (presumably for parking) Their is an arm rest in the centre of the back seat which when folded down has cup/can holders for drinks and sa slot for books or maps. In the boot there is a basic tool kit in a space above the wheel arch, on the other side there is a wheeled box clipped to the inner wall. Who knew? We were desperate for space when we went camping two years ago - and these extra areas of space would have been manna sent from heaven!! DH used to take his car to be valeted and he didn't know about these storage areas either. But it's not a new car and when DH bought it - he was left to browse the car on his own as the sales guy was busy!!
Anyone else found anything extra in their car??

S’okay @AdobeWanKenobi

Some people are just like that (and are utterly transparent).

Behold my field of fucks for it is barren is my standard response.

I have a 2016 Ford Focus (which I like!) and its hidden power is the ability to find random shit music SOMEWHERE on my phone and play it automatically when my Bluetooth connects. I swear I have searched my phone high and low for fucking Mumford and Sons, and it's just not there, but connect my phone without opening Spotify first and you'll get a blast of Mumfords every time. I've looked up how to stop this countless times and nothing ever works.

My car has an airconditioned glovebox, which always really makes me laugh. WHAT FOR???

It probably isn't actually air conditioned. I had a Skoda where the aircon chiller or ducting was very close to the glove box (Same effect).

I discoverer my car winds all the windows down if you press and hold the unlock button on the fob. Ideal on a hot day going back to the car and you can release the heat so you arnt hit with a wall of it when you open a door

I have just tried this and it works on mine too. Well I never Grin

This function is also a curse!

I opened my windows with the fob by accident, in the dark, on the wettest night of the year.

I didn't return to my car for another 16 hours, and only after photos of my car had been posted to numerous local Facebook pages Blush

I actually found out about this function in the same way - by accident. Luckily it wasnt raining but the windows were left open all night until i went to use the car in the morning 😬

Yes, and they don’t suddenly make your car any faster, it’s just as slow as it is in non-sport mode.

In some cars they absolutely do

its in the manual…

Obviously if you buy a few chilled things, sandwiches etc! Very sensible. OP, was the car you were talking about a Citroën Picasso?

I did see something on TikTok the other day that I'm yet to verify, but it claimed that if you look at the headlight on the car, embossed into it at the bottom will be the type of bulb it takes such as H7 etc.

As it came from TikTok I'm treating it with a large pinch of salt because I cant be arsed to go and look at my car 😂

I looked. It’s crap.
At least it’s not on my Mini anyway. Probably falls into the same category as the ‘petrol pump icon points to which side the filler cap is on” true for some models, not so much for others.

ilovebagpuss · 19/06/2023 18:47

Had mine 3 years and only just realised it does automatic headlight dipping! I thought I was going mad as they kept going off and on until I realised! Makes me sound so dim but I had accidentally turned the setting on as previously I had to manually dip.

Ok, just for clarity here @Shade17, full disclosure; we only get old cars my dh can work on. Treated ourselves to something a bit more modern but still bought online and with a quick look around it and a search he was happy. Only after having a proper look and checking it over thoroughly did we see the very discreet badge and find the souped up parts. Maybe have a chill pill or something so you can relax about just how knowledgeable you are. Peace and love 👍

Lavendersquare · 19/06/2023 19:16

I have an electric car, which I love. I knew you could set it to warm up before departure in the winter (getting into a toasty defrosted car on a freezing morning is a real treat), but I only just found out that it also can cool your car in the summer!

I'm now getting into a lovely cool car even on the scorching days we've been having lately.
