Not poo troll I cant even be bothered to name change.
Driving home from supermarket and I started with urgent cramps, they went away then returned and I couldn't stop what happened next.
Got home threw clothes and shoes away, dh was in the garden thankfully so didn't witness any of it.
It's never happened while driving before I'm mortified.
I dont want anyone else's stories of shitting themselves btw I just want solidarity.
Definitely on the wine later.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 17/06/2023 17:38

Yup been there. If it makes you feel any better at least you were in the privacy of your car. I was on public transport.

Been there too, more than once. It's awful, thank god no one else have ever been aware it's happened, but I live in dread x

ibs1 · 17/06/2023 17:48

forgot the sending you sympathies bit. I'm sorry you had an awful day. Ibs is very shit. Pun not intended.

mintbiscuit · 17/06/2023 17:55

OP I stand with you 100%

The anxiety when I’m not close to a toilet makes it worse when I get even an inkling of any rumbles and cramps.

Sounds silly but over the years I’ve used my labour breathing to manage it when out. Even the DC know when mummy’s got a funny tummy when I start the panting and blowing! 😂

PrincessHoneysuckle · 17/06/2023 17:56

I had to get from the car to the door it was horrific

Why???? Couldn't you, you know, just not have opened the thread?!

I have narrowly avoided being that person on numerous occasions. I have severe bile acid malabsorption.

Agree with this! Doesn’t always work, but definitely helps!

Crohn’s / IBD sufferer here! It’s shit, literally!

Sympathies, OP. 💐

morelippy · 17/06/2023 18:00

OP I'm so sorry. I absolutely dread this. In fact it rules my life. Travel, jobs, days out, appointment times.

Please try and forget it and enjoy your wine x

YouLittlePlonka · 17/06/2023 18:01

I feel you. Wine won't help obviously but... fuck it. Takes the edge off x

PrincessHoneysuckle · 17/06/2023 18:02

@mayorofcasterbridge

i think you need to calm yourself down & read the post I was actually replying to (hint, NOT the OP)

(I have voiced my opinion to MNHQ about how the quotes 'look' & it's not right, but so far no response)

GG1986 · 17/06/2023 18:05

Nearly happened to me on a plane once during take off!!! Happened twice in my car also. I feel your pain, its hell at times having IBS.

DoeRayMe · 17/06/2023 18:07

I've come so close in the car but failed walking upstairs to the loo

I am filled with dread it will happen at work as my desk is a long way from the toilets

CuteBeans · 17/06/2023 18:07

Try to forget about it, have your wine, watch something funny on TV. I know it's a horrible feeling, but it will pass.

Wintersonata · 17/06/2023 19:07

Im sorry op, it’s the worst and you have all my sympathy.
I haven’t got IBS but I had bowel cancer and had to have a third of my bowel removed. I dread holidays or anything that involves long journeys with other people and it’s always at the back of my mind.
I have a prescription for codeine linctus as that’s the only thing I now that’s guaranteed to work for a few hours, but the doctor will only prescribe it sparingly so I keep it for emergencies.
The whole thing is a nightmare. I mean, if you’re going to be sick then you can be sick into a bag or something - ok, it isn’t great for anyone in the vicinity - but it’s a lot better than the other.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 17/06/2023 19:09

@Wintersonata really sorry I hope you make a full recovery

OP posts:
PrincessHoneysuckle · 17/06/2023 19:10

I've just said to dh if I tell you something promise you'll still want to live with me and he said "you shit yourself?" So who said romance was dead Grin

Wintersonata · 17/06/2023 19:18

PrincessHoneysuckle - thank you. I’m fine now apart from that.

midnights0 · 17/06/2023 19:19

You have my sympathies. If I'm not near a toilet I get major anxiety. In fact I tend not to go anywhere unless I know where a toilet is. I've just spent the day out BIL house for a BBQ, and spent half the time in the toilet. Didn't know if I was gonna make the 20 minute drive home 😬

keffie12 · 17/06/2023 19:22

I, too, have severe IBS and a stomach/digestive issue. Had it since birth. It got worse over the past 20 years. I was diagnosed with C PTSD before.

I know full well what you're going through. I have a radar key, a change with me when out and always know where toilets are.

Yes, I've accidents outside. It's degrading, embarrassing, and horrendous.

There are a lot of us out there with this issue.
