What did you hate as a child, but love as an adult

For me it's mushrooms and also showers.

Mushrooms were the disgusting things that weren't nice in any way! Now I love them, eat the raw, fried, grilled, in soup etc 😋

I absolutely loathed showers, even to the point where I'd sit in the showe tray and try and have a really shallow bath! Love them now. Absolutely hate baths now and only have them when no alternative is available.

Not sure when I moved from a hate to a love...but there we go!

On the reverse side, when I was very little I loved pork pies. Now I think they're truly revolting x

For me its bananas! I loved them. Now Just thinking about eating them makes me heave a bit.

As for things I hated:

cucumbers
bell peppers
lettuce

Still hate liver and other innards. and mushrooms as well! LOL

Lettuce

Me too, lettuce!

To be fair, you can get lots of lovely different types of lettuce now. I was a child in the 60s & it was always floppy mid green leaves back then & salad cream as "dressing", which I wasn't keen on either, but like now.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 17/06/2023 21:16

Adventurous eating. I used to eat a very limited range of foods as a child, then I had a 'lightbulb moment' in my mid-teens along the lines of 'it won't kill you to eat this' in a situation where it would have been socially awkward not to eat what I'd been offered.

I'm now a person who seeks out new things to try, with the philosophy that, if I don't like it, I'll know I'm not missing anything.

WellThisIsFun1 · 18/06/2023 09:18

Watching the news on telly.

As a child I thought my parents were really dull for insisting they watched it every evening. I have evidently morphed into my parents.

Antiques Roadshow. It was the theme tune on a Sunday night before school the next day. I’m 41 and I still feel dread when I hear it. Love the show now though!

It still gives me the sinking feeling that I haven't done my chemistry homework!
