I can feel the rage rising in me, all the media, the politicians, everyone just conspiring, colluding.

I wish the DM had zero readership and zero interest. I hate how it’s valued in this country.

OP posts:

@grass321 I'm with you but I've always read around any subject I want to really get Into too.

I used to read the guardian and felt cool.

However I noticed over the years that it's very one sided. The mail will always pull any pm down whether they are tory or whatever.
They will post any side to any story. The guardian is just so polarised and leaves out any inconvenience truths. Ommission is the greatest lie.

It's got to the point where I struggle to get over people announcing proudly that they only read the guardian.

I feel sorry for them. It's incredibly depressing paper.

Abra1t · 16/06/2023 20:10

From PM to writing about diet pills making him vomit.

I find this type of polarised view quite strange.

I read the DM. I also read the Guardian, the Independent, the Telegraph, the FT, BBC News and sometimes the Sun. The frothing at the DM hits the ridiculous at times on MN. It's a paper, some things I find interesting, others aren't to my taste but I have the power of free thought to make my own decision.

Surely reading a range of papers encompassing differential political views is better than thinking the Guardian is some kind of biblical paper of truth?

This. Read widely, don't believe everything you read.

It's entry-level being an informed human.

I'll say to you what my brilliant (and incredibly left-wing) Politics lecturer said to me decades ago, "read widely, especially those whose opinions you disagree with. Believe no one on face value. Think".

He might be a twat but Know Thine Enemy.

I think we may have had the same lecturer!

DiDonk · 16/06/2023 20:21

It would be amazing if he'd actually written some old blather about wegovy in the week he'd run away rather than facing censure for his endless lying.

Hope the DM paid dear for it. They ran at least 4 pro-johnson stories yesterday despite the comments being 90% against, and for all that they get some absolute Phil Space.

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/06/2023 20:23

Well Boris has shown his true colours. DP said to me earlier this week, "You think the Daily Mail is bad, you should read the Telegraph." He's got a free subscription.

frogssnailandpuppydogtails · 16/06/2023 20:23

Yes I remember when Nicola was doing her covid updates Tories were screeching about her being on the telly every day . Now her we have Tories with jobs all over the media . Presenting telly programmes , writing in newspapers .
At least Nicola was giver the public information they needed , now here we have Tories all over the place giving their opinions on everything , they should not be allowed jobs in the media .

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/06/2023 20:23

@847arc he gave me a right bollocking for not being able to state my opponent's opinion clearly.

Maybe they are the same or there are lots of these gems out there.

847arc · 16/06/2023 20:25

@MrsTerryPratchett I suspect there are 😁

Keep your hair on OP.

I hate these apolitical but angry, whingey posts.

And always patronising somehow! People can read what newspaper they want and none of them are paragons of virtue.

These tedious threads - all noise, banners, no content. Ugh!

I agree. It's a combination of stupidity and tribalism.

lljkk · 16/06/2023 20:27

What is BogusJo gonna write about? Other than "They forced me out of my seat, those big mean bullies !" A là Trump Stop the Steal.

I dunno but I thought DM readers were a rather more "suck it up and get on your bike" type of audience.

Anyway, BJ doesn't have anything else to say, does he. PeppaPig World babble, maybe?

That'll be Nicola who was arrested for financial misconduct? I don't think she's the paragon of virtue you seem to think she is. Even Boris has managed to avoid being arrested so far.

Yetisrus · 16/06/2023 20:29

Didn't they call for his sacking last year?

I never said she was , I just don't think mp's ( yes I know he's not ) should have jobs in the media , any of them . I think it's a conflict of interest .

I understand the first column was today and was about diet pills.

I don't see either the DM column or the fact that he ignored the ruling around future employment as ex MP/PM surprising really .

Whatever you think about him, we can't really allow that word to be used on the boards in that way.

midsomermurderess · 16/06/2023 21:01

His first column was on failing to lose weight. People are comparing it to the vapidity produced by Adrian Chiles.

Sloth66 · 16/06/2023 21:24

This is one Paper he won’t get the sack from for lying. He might be sacked if he lapses into inadvertently telling the truth though.

LizzieSiddal · 16/06/2023 21:38

Why was my post deleted? Are we not allowed to call BJ a cunt?

I did wonder about this and thought about putting a bet on BJ getting the sack ,then wondered what he would have to say to get the sack . I then remembered J . Clarkson got the sack from The Sun . 🤔

IsThePopeCatholic · 16/06/2023 21:47

The DM and BJ deserve each other. Both immoral, both cynical, both despicable.

LizzieSiddal · 17/06/2023 11:02

Is it just me who can’t see his column on the site? Or has it been removed because no one is reading it?

Why do people assume if you hate the DM that you like the Guardian? I like neither.i find all of the papers hard to tolerate as their agendas are so transparent in every piece.

For the same reasons that posters think that whose who read The Daily Mail don't read anything else and are brainless morons.

The reasons are tribalism and an inability to think critically.
