I'm always looking for somewhere new to visit and I wondered what other Mumsnetter's favourite places to visit are?

TIA

York, Belfast, Glasgow.

Glad you've said Belfast as my dds are staying there 3 nights this summer. A friend's parents went and loved it.

Just recently went to Whitstable in Kent, lovely seaside town with an arty vibe, lots of independent shops, good restaurants. Loved it!

Love visiting York and Leeds.

What is it you like about Leeds?

Chester ... beautiful old Roman city. Remains and ampitheatre, shops in old Tudor style, walk around old city walls, row or ride a boat down the river Dee, relax in parks or wander round the Cathedral...enjoy ice creams by the river and if you re lucky there s music in the bandstand.

Why are so many people saying Eastbourne? I really don’t see the attraction but happy to be enlightened.

LorraineInSpain · 15/06/2023 18:44

Portsmouth (the touristy bits, anyway)
Norwich
Belfast

Newcastle.
Oxford.

Both great, compact city centres with lots in them. Newcastle is my favourite place to shop.

Wanttobemorechilliheeler · 15/06/2023 18:56

Norwich.

Love Glasgow, West End and Shawlands for lots of independent cafes.

Newcastle, for the Quayside and Ouseburn.

Smaller, Hebden Bridge again lots of indies, small cinema, tap room and a gin bar. Love the ethos of The Trade Club.

A cathedral, history, great walks, river and canal, indie cafes and cute parks ( think simple cafe with mini golf and a bandstand) - visit Ripon.

Can't believe no one has said Manchester yet! I love that people are saying Norwich as it's one of the nearest cities to me and I do love it. However that does mean I live rurally. I had an absolute blast in Manchester!

midsomermurderess · 15/06/2023 19:15

Edinburgh. It's very beautiful, and when you get away from the over-tourism in the centre, very liveable.

GobbolinoCat · 15/06/2023 19:16

Hate Manchester.

Love Chester and surrounding areas.

Bath and surrounding areas, Windsor is OK...

London... Simply the best i know it so well and will still never know it enough.

RenoDakota · 15/06/2023 19:18

Newcastle and York (and my children are there at the unis).
Norwich. Home town - have been away from it too long and will move back there eventually.
Llandudno. Fell in love with it on a day trip.
Keswick and Ambleside as love the Lake District.
Manchester. Nearest city at the moment - is fabulous.
