That was my exact one of girls world , but the make up as horrific , bright green eyeshadow ( It did not suit me) Oh it came with curlers as well , they did not work so tried them on myself of course , I'm pretty sure I got them tangled in my hair 🙄 . Funny I don't think I ever tried washing her hair wonder why 😕 ?
Did anyone ever try washing their hair ?

wildinthecountry · 12/06/2023 17:53

Oh and @JRHartleysmum thanks for the new thread 🤗.

InMySpareTime · 12/06/2023 17:57

I permanent markered then cut the hair of my sister's Girl's world.
I thought it would grow out.
She was not happy.

thatsn0tmyname · 12/06/2023 17:57

I really wanted a Mr Frosty for Christmas. Bloody hard work grinding the ice cubes then sprinkling vile, flavoured powder on top. Yum (not).

alargeoneforme · 12/06/2023 17:58

Thanks for new thread!

Anyone remember the party lines? Like dial-a-chat, pre-internet chat rooms with strangers. So weird.

wildinthecountry · 12/06/2023 18:00

@InMySpareTime You cut her hair ? well of course that would be fun but eight year old me knew even then , that would be it , all over 🤣 . I wish I had tried washing her hair or something .

areyouhavinglaugh · 12/06/2023 18:00

Thank you for new thread!

Bod popped in my mind today 🤣

InMySpareTime · 12/06/2023 18:02

I had a Mr Frosty, we took it outside one winter and fed it snow but it turns out mr frosty is not frost-hardy.
I found an original mr frosty in his box in a charity shop for £4 a few years ago and gave it to my sister as an apology for several mean things I did to her toys over the years.

wildinthecountry · 12/06/2023 18:05

@InMySpareTime We did do mean things to our toys back then , or rather my brother did , he was quite fond of making me cry by pulling my dolls heads off and using them as footballs 🙈.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 12/06/2023 18:05

I always though that I was tail end Gen x being born in 1983 but the 'millennial' tag seems to go from 1980 now. My parents still had a black and white telly when I was born.

I remember when we got our first microwave and having a load of microwave meals for dinner was a fancy treat :P

All sounds a bit dodgy if you ask me .

areyouhavinglaugh · 12/06/2023 18:09

Ha yes I remember party lines! Before we had internet, it cost a fortune to call so we used to do it from work 😬

moggerhanger · 12/06/2023 18:11

Anyone remember The Hitman And Her? On at the arse end of the night on ITV, usually after a repeat of The Twilight Zone.

Lemieux3 · 12/06/2023 18:17

Ah great 😊 loved the last thread.

Mr Frosty? Didn't everyone want that for Christmas?

What is the definition of Gen X? Everyone seems to have a different date range. I was born 1980 so technically at the end of Gen X but doubt I have much in common with people born in the 60s. Isn't there a micro-generation: Zennials I think it's called.

JRHartleysmum · 12/06/2023 18:23

Always wanted a Mr Frosty and a soda stream, never got either !

wildinthecountry · 12/06/2023 18:30

I was given a SodaStream for Christmas I was still in primary school . I 'm sure I spent the entire two weeks holidays high on sugar . I used to press the button until it was almost over flowing with fizz 🤣.

wildinthecountry · 12/06/2023 18:31

I do still have one now but I use it for healthy fizzy water .

ssd · 12/06/2023 18:35

Anyone remember Mr Ben. I used to love that. And playschool, RUNARRRANDDD.....the clangers. And bagpuss and mary mungo and midge

wildinthecountry · 12/06/2023 18:35

I also had my beloved 70's Treehouse 😁 I would play for hours with that until my horrible older brother would try to mess my game up .
When I grew up I think it went to a cousins child 😭.

areyouhavinglaugh · 12/06/2023 18:52

We had a soda stream in 1980 🤣 I was so excited I opened the Leonard concentrate and spilled it all over our new fitted carpet... my mum never forgave me for that

Generation X is 1965-1981. I'm 1980 but remember loads of things mentioned.
