I love old lady / old man names for kids… but I think I’d give a puppy a Boomer name as more ironic and uncommon!

Barbara
Joyce
Sheila
Margaret
Linda
Susan
Beryl
Angela
Claudia
Beverly
Jean

And if it were a boy:

Ian
Graham
Bob
Derek
Nigel
Dave
Johnathan
Malcolm
Stuart
Geoffrey
Jeff

FUN!

Gladys, Bertha, Ethel

Mammamia2023 · 11/06/2023 19:51

Ethel was my first thought when i read the title. My dd loves the name Winnifred how cute for a dog! Best not tell her or she will want another puppy lol

Gertrude, Gladys. Betty, Bertha (why in the world name your daughter Bertha, it boggles the mind), Ethel another awful one, Edna (same), Hilda because it is similar to the word hideous 😄

Some of the names mentioned have quite sweet nicknames. Mildred (and Millicent) can be Millie, Winifred can be Winnie. And some names like Agatha and Hyacinth can be very pretty and personable because the bearers make them so.

Idontgiveashitanymore · 11/06/2023 19:52

Gertrude. Agnes . Cynthia . Ethel

I have an old lady name you heartless young cunts, but I nominate Lettuce.

@ImAChChChChihuahua Aw just realised you have chihuahuas! That’s what we have too! They are amazing dogs, best behaved I’ve ever had including all the family dogs. Would love another thought wonder if she’d be put out!

Aw, Lettuce always makes me think of the young tortured teen in AC’s Murder at the Vicarage. Also there is Egg, an independent young lady in Three Act Tragedy. I love these sorts of nicknames.

CustardySergeant · 11/06/2023 19:58

Agatha
Edna
Violet
Gertrude

Scoobyblue · 11/06/2023 19:58

My Grandma was called Ethel. You couldn't find a nicer, braver, kinder, funnier old lady. Your puppy would have the best name if you went with Ethel.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 11/06/2023 19:59

I like the name Ethel.

lieselotte · 11/06/2023 19:59

Hildegard
Gertrude
Madge
Ada
Ida
Florence
Nora
Henrietta (I think this is a great name for a dog or cat!) and Hetty for short
Ethel
Betty

CustardySergeant · 11/06/2023 19:58

Agatha
Edna
Violet
Gertrude

I love Violet so much, it is my favorite! I think the old fashioned names that are actually pretty words can be very nice.
