2 toilets in a bathroom - is this a thing?

Came across this pic whilst on a property search. I’ve never seen this before in my life. Is there an explanation for it?

I know I live up north but how is this worth £1m ?

HurdyGurdy19 · 11/06/2023 20:01

Looking at photo no 6, with the row of brightly coloured coat hooks, and all the toys piled on one side, I wonder if it the home of a childminder, and therefore someone who may need to take two children to the toilet at the same time?

Clutching at straws, I know. But otherwise that it a crazy layout for a bathroom. And as already said - they two loos don't even match! That has irritated me far more than it should.

Oh, how very Roman 😬

It’s in the vicinity of the desirable areas of Maida Vale, Queens Park, Ladbroke Grove and Kensal Rise. The streets around there are quite nice but surrounded by estates and crime. The houses there feel quite claustrophobic TBH.

I'm obviously a slow typer, as I see now, that whilst I was composing my deep and meaningful reply, others got there first 😆

@HurdyGurdy19 CM seems to be the winning option. It still feels massively creepy having a child toilet beside and adult one - I’d have thought safeguarding issues.

Only if they're used at the same time surely

Zarataralara · 11/06/2023 20:09

They look slightly different sizes so adult and child loos?

Zarataralara · 11/06/2023 20:13

Oh, seen all the toys and coat hooks now I’ve looked on the link, must be a childminder, says there’s a studio in the garden so maybe children have their space in that. And then two toilets for kids makes sense.

HerRoyalHeinzness · 11/06/2023 20:18

My first thought was his and his toilets.

Hannahsbananas · 11/06/2023 20:21

John Lewis used to have one normal toilet and one teeny toddler sized one and the same cubicle in the ladies loo.
It was kind of cute 😊

canigetitmyself · 11/06/2023 20:30

His and hers crappers. Dont we all have those?

Actually the one on left looks very tall: could it be for health/medical reasons? My Granny has a tall toilet

Babysharkdoodoodood · 11/06/2023 21:01

Albert Schloss in Birmingham ladies loo. For your besties I assume.

Covering another store at work once, I came across a bathroom with 2 toilets side by side. Both working, both with half used loo rolls next to them. Never did find out why.

I agree that it looks like a CM. There was an instance of a CM working on that road called "Helping Little Hands Childminders" (see link: vinsights.co.uk/Business/1243389 ) however, there's no CM at present actively advertising on Third Ave that I can find.

The food hygiene rating in the link is nearly a decade old and the Company House page for the CM of the same name is registered at a different address.

Feels weird that they would keep all the toys and loos if they haven't been a CM for such a long time.

Lipolass · 11/06/2023 21:29

My friend opened up a hairdresser’s in a former brothel. In one room there were two toilets, facing each other…..

Ah, my kids would have loved this below the age of about 6. Very sociable toileters 🤯

Mine still shouts for me to come and talk to him while he is on the loo. No, DS, I do not want to perch on the side of the bath and keep you company while you poo.

Temporaryanonymity · 11/06/2023 21:36

Wildcard: perhaps a religious thing? So men and women can use different loos at certain times of the month when there’s only one bathroom?

QueSyrahSyrah · 11/06/2023 21:36

It's a hard no from me.

I hope to go this week. Will report back.

Much to my disgust lots of couples poo in front of each other, I guess this is for them. They can do it whilst holding hands 🤣

I applaud your internet sleuthing skills. I did have a go at searching and gave up. The house number matches that on Streetview for the property. Mystery solved!!

That is odd. I even find twin basin's odd. Do you seriously brush your teeth together?! But two toilets.... absolutely baffling.

Have you never watched American house shows? Everyone wants two basins, I see the appeal but then just more to clean!

I read this quote and knew exactly the couple that would do it GrinGrinGrin
