2 toilets in a bathroom - is this a thing?

Came across this pic whilst on a property search. I’ve never seen this before in my life. Is there an explanation for it?

Might be a childminder. T

There is a fire extinguisher in the kitchen, and lots of kids coat pegs, but no obvious child's bedroom.

I don't think the changing table is particularly large, I think it just looks that way in the reflection because of the wide angled lens. It looks regular size above the toilet.

Tiggytico · 11/06/2023 17:38

Agree - looks like a childminder's house? Picture of the hall shows a lot of toys and multiple coat pegs!

2bazookas · 11/06/2023 17:42

Maybe they had a very large number of children.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 11/06/2023 17:42

That reminds me of visiting the zoo in Amsterdam when DS was little, probably nearly 4 yo. They had family cubicles in the loos which were double wide and had a normal sized loo and a small child sized one. DS thought it was the best thing ever, we had to go back for another (almost non-existent) wee before we left.

cuckyplunt · 11/06/2023 17:44

I believe our local nightclub contains twin loos.. I have never been myself!

Lauz841 · 11/06/2023 17:50

The one near the wall looks smaller/lower and there's a pull down changing table above on the wall. So I think it's a child's toilet, and coupled with the mass of toys and excessive number of coat hooks I'm going to guess it's a childminders house.

Macaroni46 · 11/06/2023 18:08

His n hers? 😂

Newnamenewname109870 · 11/06/2023 18:16

Most probably they decided to move the toilet and get a newer model, then couldn’t be bothered to rip out the old one as we’re going to sell.

Magnoliainbloom · 11/06/2023 18:26

I can’t see how it could be a bidet - they are both distinctly toilet shaped.

Child-minder seems the most realistic option, but I can’t see where the kids would go in that house. I have viewed one in that area and they are narrow houses. I did think perhaps someone with SEN lived there, but this would still seem unusual. The placement the toilet paper suggests both are functioning toilets, but if one is for a kid, the TP isn’t optimally placed for a small person to grab it.

I may well view this week to put us out of our misery.

It's definitely a Thing.

IN MY NIGHTMARES

A significant portion of my bad dreams involve communal loos somewhere.

Not a good selling feature though. If you are going to spaff a million on a tiny house in a questionable part of London, I imagine not many would want to mess around removing the loo as the whole bathroom would need remodeling.

Only ever seen this in pubs (disco loo in Albert schloss) !!

I asked ChatGPT to interpret dreams with 2 loos:

Toilets are often associated with elimination and the release of waste, both physically and symbolically. Seeing two toilets might suggest that there are multiple aspects of your life or emotions that you need to let go of or cleanse yourself from. It could indicate a desire for emotional purification or the need to rid yourself of negative or unnecessary elements in your life.
Alternatively, the presence of two toilets could represent a choice or a dilemma in your waking life. It might suggest that you are facing a decision or a situation where you feel torn between two options. The dream may be urging you to carefully consider your choices and find a balance between conflicting aspects or desires.

Does that make any sense?

I knew a man at uni who liked to go to the loo with his girlfriend, but more in a “she sat on his lap while he did a poo” fetish fashion.

Is it for when you’ve got D&V so bum on one, head down the other?

Thank you- so much to unravel Grin

Same as me. Or they're too dirty to use.

That's to stop you actually weeing in the dream and wetting the bed!

The toilets aren't even the same. That offends me more!

Agreed!

There is Loo in Stockholm, in a bar, which has 2 toilets.

I've seen one in the Reception area of a hotel in Prague. Extremely weird.

hermioneee · 11/06/2023 18:56

I'm pretty sure I watched a doc about the spice girls in the late 90s and they were living in a house together with two toilets because they liked to go together. It's always stuck with me.
Maybe Mel B lived there!!

Yep, too dirty, or no doors etc

The stopping you weeing the bed thing makes sense Grin

Belltentdreamer · 11/06/2023 19:41

Its not a childminders house 🤣🤣🤣
it’s a million bloody quid

XenoBitch · 11/06/2023 19:44

I have been in a nightclub that had a cubicle with 2 two loos in. Very strange! I refused to share with anyone.

This made me laugh!
Or perhaps it’s the ultimate His &Hers
🤢

AuntyBumBum · 11/06/2023 19:48

Definitely his and hers. The nice ladies on Mumsnet would not want to put their lady-bottoms on a toilet seat where hairy men's arses have been.

(The very nice ladies would demand an entirely separate bathroom.)

Magnoliainbloom · 11/06/2023 19:58

@AuntyBumBum fabulous and very apt username!
