Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just having breakfast and my first cuppa of the day, in my spot in the kitchen. Marvin (as dd2 calls my stomach lately) was far too grumbly to wait for me to get outside to eat 🙄

I have the washer on already & will wash up last night's dessert pots shortly. I also want to clean the downstairs loo and mop in there before two of my friends come round for a catch up. It's been a bit neglected while I've been ill & desperately needs a proper clean & bit of bleach down it!

Dd1 is off into town to look for sparkly things to decorate her leaver's shirt with, and pick up a nail polish to go with her prom dress. She finally picked yesterday & got exactly the one she wanted, at exactly the budget I'd set!

I'm not sure what dd2 plans to do - I expect she'll spend her time upstairs since I have visitors coming, she only really pops down to say hello.

We'll roast a chicken for tea, but probably have it with salad rather than a full on roast dinner.

Tonight I'd like to re-do my nails for the week ahead but think I'll plan for an early night after those bits of cleaning this morning then visitors this afternoon - I expect I'll be tired 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning.

As usual, that all sounds lovely! (Well, except cleaning the loo!! See how you feel, your friends won't care if it's not magazine shot worthy!)

have a nice catch up ☕️ 🍰

what colour is DD1's dress? Good find that it's what she really wanted & in budget!!

I'm dog sitting. He's been out, had his morning dental stick, breakfast & is now mothering to play ball. I don't encourage it (even though his family do) because it's not good for him. I need coffee then we'll go for a slow sniffy walk. It's already quite warm here, but it'll take the pavements a while to warm up & we'll soon be in the woids anyway, so that'll be fine.

then we'll sit in the shade until his lunchtime (madness he still has 'lunch' he's nearly 3) then somehow fill the afternoon until his dinner time. He's hard to entertain because he really just wants to play ball or tug (he's a BIG lab and too strong for me to play tug now, fortunately the boys (teenagers) will be home later & will play tug with him. And my friend & her DH will take him for a run tonight if it's not too hot.

I'll go home after I've given him dinner & in all honesty probably not do much, except make up my bed which I stripped to the mattress yesterday.

all very thrilling I know.

lucysmam · 11/06/2023 08:28

@ThursdayFreedom you're right, it's more I care. Dd's dress is a lilac colour, with beaded bodice. She's channeling her inner Taylor Swift Enchanted from the Era's tour. It's one she'd seen in the local prom shop window & I had warned her it would be out of budget - which it originally was. It's absolutely beautiful & she's picked sparkly accessories to go with it.

Yours sounds like a nice, steady, day with the dog 🙂

Taking my boy to his cricket game this morning. Nice day for sitting in the sun watching other kids throw a cricket ball at your baby 😬😆

SpringOn · 11/06/2023 08:52

Morning all,
have been up to make coffee and get dressed but now back on the bed with the dog deciding what to do.
Current plan is an hour or so of uni work, an hour of cleaning listening to a podcast (downstairs bathroom needs a mop, also might hoover the sofa and wash the dog beds).
Going for a run later with DS and the dog.
Might make some fairy cakes to pop in lunches this week.
Should do something with DS8 - maybe a board game or some Lego. Otherwise he will spend the whole day playing on Roblox. DS 13 has a bit of homework.
We’re on a short break as the football season has just ended. Normally both Saturday and Sunday are taken up with matches! Feels very odd to be at a loose end.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 11/06/2023 08:53

Good morning Lucysmam. Your dd's dress sounds beautiful. I've had breakfast and two cups of coffee. I'm currently lounging on the couch watching cookery programmes. It's been raining and the forecast is for thunder later, so I'll be pottering inside. I'll probably clean the windows and make banana bread.

SideProfile · 11/06/2023 08:54

Ive got two toddlers so just trying to tidy up quicker than they make mess while they whine at me for something or other!

Out later for a Sunday lunch for my mums birthday.

I always get jealous reading these threads about everyone’s relaxing Sunday mornings with a slow cup of coffee! I know my time will come but the chaos gets too much some times!

riotlady · 11/06/2023 08:57

Currently lounging in bed with DD, she’s watching Puppy Pals on her iPad and I’m mumsnetting. I’ve already had a wash on so will go and hang that outside shortly.

It’s fair day in town today, so the current plan is that DD and I will drive to church, then head to the fair after and DH will walk in and meet us. Half the roads are closed and expecting it to be very busy so crossing my fingers I can a. Navigate my way in and b. Get parked!

DH is working tonight so will have some spag bol with DD for tea and then catch up on Love Island when she’s in bed

lucysmam · 11/06/2023 08:59

@SideProfile your time will definitely come...hold onto that. I really appreciate this time on a weekend morning, when I can potter about at a steady pace & it's peaceful 🙂 It doesn't last forever though - they will both be down soon-ish and talk randomness at me! (Quite often dd2 tells me the same things 2 or 3 days in a row 🙄 then looks offended when I point out that she told me already!)

@Theoldwoman the only ones I participate in? No, I join others I haven't started too. I quite enjoy the slightly nosy ones usually. Or festive ones in the run up to Christmas. And the crochet, knit, and natter one in Arts & Crafts. The girls are 13 and 16, and no he's not my husband. Why?

Thanks @lucysmam .
for some reason I love these threads. I think it’s because I’m nosy!

TheChosenTwo · 11/06/2023 09:05

I’m still in bed, dc are all still in bed and dh is showered and probably having a cup of tea in front of last nights match of the day.
Today dc2 will be working and dh and I will attempt to cajole dc3 into coming out and doing something with us, he’s not a fan of doing much at the weekends but we can usually bribe him with the promise of food 😂
I’d like a walk down the canal path to the pub but it’s a 7 mile round trip and I think he might protest about it being too warm, shame as it’s a lovely walk! Might just go on my own.
Will get up soon and put some washing on and unload the dishwasher if dh hasn’t already.

PocketCall · 11/06/2023 09:06

I've just put fake tan on and now having a cup of tea. The eldest dc is tidying her room trying on all her dressing up clothes. Dh is showing youngest dc how to use a screwdriver. I'm washing all the bed sheets in a minute and we'll probably head to a skatepark in a bit to wear out the dc. We had a busy day yesterday but the dc still get really restless if we try to stay in too long.

FlightOfTheProcrastinator · 11/06/2023 09:06

It’s a beautiful morning here. I’m sitting in the sunshine wi’ purring cat on my lap, drinking my tea and enjoying the calm. We all had a late night so everyone else is still in bed. It’s pretty blissful!

Unfortunately, the kitchen was left last night, so I’m ignoring that for the minute and making the most of the quiet until I can hear noises upstairs.

I’ve got a scheduled call with my mother later this morning, uniform washing to do and I need to take my young plants into the greenhouse before the alleged storms hit later on. Also need to supervise violin practice at some point for upcoming exam. It’s coming along nicely but it still requires me to remove the instrument from its case for it to actually happen every day!

Verystressedsenmum · 11/06/2023 09:11

Morning all beautiful sunny day where I am , I’m enjoying my 2nd coffee in the garden . I was thinking about going for a run but think it’s a bit too warm .so may just get on with my washing and tidying. Later I’ll make Sunday brunch then we will go for for a walk and call in a beer garden . Thunder storms forecast later this afternoon so need to get back before then so might not be a bbq tea .

Decafflatteplease · 11/06/2023 09:13

Morning @lucysmam glad Marvin is well again after all those weeks you couldn't eat!

Ive been up for a couple of hours with my youngest, surveying my poor seedlings in the garden that got battered by the rain last night I forgot to put them in the greenhouse I didn't think the rain would be so heavy!

Got a load of towels on the line by 8.30 feels like a win! One more lot of uniform to dry in a bit then that's all done ✅

This afternoon we are off to a local small farm it's open farm Sunday, I think it's a nationwide thing where farms open for free so we are going there. It's just a donation entry for a local charity. Should be a nice hour or so out.

Home to a "roast" chicken in the slow cooker. A simple roast frozen roasties frozen veg so easy!

This evening will be my usual self care Sunday of bath gin and book!

lucysmam · 11/06/2023 09:15

@Decafflatteplease Marvin is on TOP form 🤣 I need to put on about a stone so it's ok for now, I'll start worrying when I go over where I'm usually comfortable in my clothes 🙈

It’s a beautiful day here. I have had my shopping delivered and put most of it away, fed the cats and put the washing machine on …..and dishwasher as I forgot it last night. Having a quick cup of coffee whilst on mumsnet. I have text DD2 to ask how her night was as she is in Newcastle for Sam Fender concert …… no reply and don’t expect one for a while! DD1 has text to see if I fancy a drive to the beach and lunch out so expecting her around 10am. DH is in bed as working nights. And I am going to enjoy the day and not do any cleaning.
Hope everyone enjoys their day today.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 11/06/2023 09:21

Currently having coffee and a croissant in the garden listening to the birds.

We’ll be taking some stuff to our new caravan which is in storage. Prepping for our first trip away in it leaving next Friday.

I am going to my DPs this afternoon. Feeling bad that I have neglected them a bit recently.

DS working. DH on call for work so he can’t stray too far in case he has to take calls. DD is out for a run already and not sure what she has planned today.

Very easy dinner tonight. Jackets!

We’ve got a busy week coming up with DH leaving his job, prepping for holiday and the last of DSs Maths and English exams. I’ll be making lots of lists!

hohumpigsbum · 11/06/2023 09:21

Good morning everyone 😊
I woke up this morning with that horrible aching feeling in my face like I'm getting a cold. Have just had a lemsip and some muesli, DC are watching TV and eating chocolate croissants, DH is bumbling about upstairs.
This morning I've got some cleaning and tidying to do. Some shelves and pictures need going up so DH will get on that.
I'm decorating DD2's bedroom this week so need to start taping the skirting boards ready and giving it a bit of a clear out.
Then we're going to do a run to the tip and stop off to pick up some pizza for tea.
We bought a new slip and slide for the garden so will get that out when we get home. Then I'm going to sit outside in the sunshine and drink sangria, and hopefully I will be feeling better than I do now!

LexieLoos · 11/06/2023 09:22

Morning all!
We've had a busy weekend - arrived home from a tots break at Butlins Friday evening, then had a 1st birthday party followed by an 80 mile round trip to collect DCat yesterday. I could do with a quiet day, but the entire house looks like a whirlwind has gone through it, I have a bag full of holiday washing, and I also need to do some work as it's my last day in my current job tomorrow.
Trying to frame today as productive rather than chaotic!

Crunchymum · 11/06/2023 09:26

Hope you have a lovely day @lucysmam and I agree your friends won't care about your loo (mine needs a proper scrub so I know there is a certain level of satisfaction in doing it!)

Dinner sounds lovely too. May have to do something similar!!

We don't have much outside space so we use our inlaws garden when the weather is good so we're heading there again today (we live close by!) We still have the paddling pool up from yesterday.

I have loads of picnic stuff for lunch (will feed inlaws too) and we'll just have a few hours in their large shaded garden. 29c here yesterday. I can't cope 🤣

Probably find a film they all agree on this evening and do some kind of pasta or chicken salad for dinner later.

gingercat02 · 11/06/2023 09:28

Still in bed.
Been awake for a bit but at a gig with DS last night and didn't go to bed until nearly 1am so having a lazy start.

Washing to do, a bit in the garden and need to go to my Mum's as she has Covid so will need a bit of shopping and a chat.

Other than that not much on. DH is away until tomorrow and I have work and DS has school

Rainbow1901 · 11/06/2023 09:36

Good morning all! I was up early had a bath and hairwash -sat with MN while having my shredded wheat and then blitzed my hair. All presentable now - why? Not going out today!!

DH and I have been working in the garden this week and are in the process of re-lining the pond - only DH is now wallowing in bed so we are not making much progress this morning.
But just had a half hour meditation and now my head feels clearer (had lots going on and life has been stressful lately) so maybe another coffee and then I'll clean the kitchen floor - which desperately needs it after us tramping in and out the garden plus cleaning up after a geriatric cat who keeps missing the tray (thank goodness for puppy pads!!) and mashing up her food before she wanders off to sleep the day away.
Need to think about today's meal - been very lazy and de-motivated about food lately but we seemed to be in BBQ territory yesterday as one of neighbours were having a pre-football party and there was football chanting and Sweet Caroline going on all afternoon. Could see BBQ smoke drifting over at least two other neighbours fences - so might just follow their cue and do a BBQ before the rain comes. Otherwise all is peaceful for now - time to put the kettle on!!

Starrynightsandpixiedust · 11/06/2023 09:40

A very good morning to you all 🙂
I've fed tiny dog, watered the garden plants and now I'm back in bed with a cup of tea and tiny dog snoring beside me whilst I catch up on mumsnet. Soon as I finish my tea I'm planning to take tiny dog out for a long walk and afterwards tidy the house. Nothing very exciting planned, just looking forward to having a quiet day at home after a tiring week.
