Thread 8 - TalkLair: “Brewing Russell's teapot”

Continuation of previous threads (thread 7).

The new lair of JTT escapees is all cosy and homey; we have truly settled here. Outside, the garden is blooming with spring flowers. Inside, the hearth is glowing, pictures are up on the walls, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

I lived for years in North London, and REALLY miss Greek restaurants. I’d have to drive a 60-mile round trip to the nearest one - even McDonalds is closer, at just 25 miles each way.

Lovely, lovely cats! I'm currently stretched out on my recliner, laptop on my laptop tray on my knees and a Django between the rest of my body and the laptop. His head is resting in the crook of my elbow and he has one of his lovely front legs stretched out across my bosoms. It's heavenly.

@CyanCrystalViolet I hope you're feeling better. I did have a date and apart from the fact that it will go nowhere serious because he's a bit odd, he is also very handsome and lovely and gentle, so there will hopefully be more dates. He texted me to see how my talk went and to tell me that he'd had a lovely time with me earlier. It was all very nice and a real confidence boost for me because 1. I haven't dated for a lot of years and 1. He's really handsome and he asked me out, which must mean that I'm not uneasy on the eye myself.

MouseMinge · 21/07/2023 00:21

Oh, sewing today! It was all cutting out the pattern and cutting out fabric for four hours. And I'm the only one who has even cut out any fabric. I didn't cut out all of my fabric but I'm ahead of everyone else. Yay me! I'm going to cut out the smaller bits at home and then next week we sew! I will have some cool loose trousers!

I also found out why so many trousers and especially pyjama bottoms ride up my difference. My crutch drop/rise/whatever is longer than the average, which is funny given what a short arse I am. I have a short torso and a long gap between my waist and the old crotch region. The good thing is that now I'm learning how to sew I can make these things myself and my crotch region will be a happy place.

Ladies and gentlemen, how many times can I say crotch in one post? I can say it a lot of times. Crotch.

SinnerBoy · 21/07/2023 14:47

Well! I'd never had you down as being so crotchety!

duc748 · 22/07/2023 13:56

I shall have my first taste of women's sport live tomorrow, with the Challenge Cup semi-final in Leeds (neutral ground) tomorrow being preceded by the women's cup-tie. I expect the coach trip will get us there in time for the second-half, maybe. Anyway it's all on the BBC, so I shall be recording both games. A win tomorrow gets us back to Wembley for the Cup Final. Opponents to be be determined this afternoon, also on the telly.

MouseMinge · 22/07/2023 21:00

I was watching Denmark v China. My god, it was dull until the last couple of minutes. Apparently England v Haiti was dull too.

Gonners · 22/07/2023 21:35

In appreciation of your watching the women, I may educate myself by watching the semi-final - I was raised by a Welshman and have only ever seen clips of League which, to the uneducated eye, looks as though it might be almost as insane as Aussie rules in the sense of "the more players, the merrier".

duc748 · 22/07/2023 21:46

There's fewer players! I've been watching the Australian NRL today; the speed and skill on display by the best players is remarkable.

Oh, the humiliation! Yes, of course, whatever was I thinking? I blame my ditzy female brain. And wine.

Britinme · 22/07/2023 23:19

I've found an increased appreciation for soccer in recent years- at least partly in consequence of having to watch a high-school American football match where my step-granddaughter was part of the cheerleading team. Honestly apart from her bits that's three hours of my life mis-spent. Also, watching Ted Lasso was great.

duc748 · 23/07/2023 00:30

@Gonners I am a big proselytiser for my sport. Comparing say rugby union, rugby league, and American football as the main contact sports, I think league has the best balance of skill v strength. Much of it is bone-shuddering contact, but there's still room for like special guys like Shaun. And he's not the only one

Do women play American football, @Britinme ? It seems rather like the Eton Wall Game as far as I can tell.

MouseMinge · 23/07/2023 02:26

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't. When we first started seeing it here there was a lot of taking the mickey out of it as less manly than the rugby games because of the armor. Ha! I think most years college players end up seriously injured, death is frequent enough to be a disgrace and I remember watching a game where a player went down hard and his calf was facing in the wrong direction with bone sticking out. If I had children I wouldn't want them involved in it.

Britinme · 23/07/2023 02:27

@MavisMcMinty - if they do I'm not aware of it!

Oh, did you leave early?

kittykarate · 23/07/2023 08:10

Didn't someone try and setup a 'lingerie league' where women played American Football? I think that's the only time I'd heard of women playing it.

I now have a bizarre mental image of people playing American Football dressed in lacy under crackers and those shoulder-cage-armour things.

From what I remember, the adverts promised a lace scanties type vibe, but the uniforms in reality are more like beach volleyball (bikini) style plus the shoulder pads etc.

MouseMinge · 24/07/2023 19:53

Evening all. I was hoping to see Barbie today - cheap Monday tickets - but the friend who wants to come with me has an infected face. Eyes, ears, monster face - her words, not mine, I haven't seen her! She has antibiotics now so should be feeling much better soon.

It's quite amusing because it's not her sort of thing at all but she's become a bit obsessed with Ryan Gosling as Ken. What's so amusing about that? She's the most lesbian lesbian I know. She doesn't fancy him, she's just become entranced by him. Anyway! We'll hopefully see it next Monday. I want to see Oppenheimer too but need to choose a day when I'm not tired because otherwise the three hours will be too much and I'll fall asleep. I'm entranced by Cillian Murphy's face so I shall look forward to gazing at his impossible cheekbones. I love Emily Blunt too. I saw her in films twice this weekend. I watched A Quiet Place 2 on iPlayer and then Young Victoria was on so I watched that just because she was in it.

In other news today was tit torture day, which was actually less torturous than I remembered it being. About five minutes before I had to leave to get to the hospital, the heavens opened and my trousers were stuck to my legs by the time I got to the hospital. Which was nice.

In lovelier news, I have a Django asleep on my lap and am having to type with my hands over his skinny Malink little body.

MavisMcMinty · 24/07/2023 20:15

Once I was post-menopausal, tit torture day has been an altogether painless experience. Although I’m overdue one, they should never have made it “ring us for an appointment” from the old routine “here’s the date, change it if you can’t make it”.

My best friend always pops any loose change into her bra, and at one mammogram the radiographer carefully peeled a stuck 2p coin from my friend’s breast and politely handed it over.

Britinme · 24/07/2023 20:17

Since Ken has no male genitalia, I suppose that makes it reasonable for a lesbian to fancy Ryan Gosling with that thought in mind. I thought it was a brilliant movie.

Gonners · 24/07/2023 20:45

When I was in Italy, the tit-torturing area was run entirely by ancient nuns ... apart from the radiographer, who was youngish, male and unchaperoned. He was very good indeed at his job, but it did strike me as slightly odd after being ushered around by nuns.

artant · 24/07/2023 22:20

Tit torturing here always seems to take place in supermarket car parks. It doesn’t seem to be about convenience as they’re never especially local. I guess at least it means parking is free.

artant · 24/07/2023 22:23

I quite want to see both Barbie snd Oppenheimer. I’m not a fan of Cillian Murphy but in the dim distant past on my Physics degree, I wrote an essay about the role of the scientists in the decision making around the development and use of the bomb.

Yes, my nearest mammo-van is in Tesco’s car park. Previously when I was under hospital surveillance I’d have to drive round for hours looking for a parking space, then hang around for hours in the ultra-busy breast-screening department. InHealth runs the local screening service and there is never any waiting. And then I get to do a rare supermarket shop afterwards!
