Air up bottles... are they any good?

My children have come in very excited about these new bottles that you drink water but it has a 'ring' with flavour that you can choose and basically you are drinking the water but the smell tricks you into thinking it tastes of the flavoured ring that you have chosen. I'm not convinced how it could work personally but I'll ask you lovely lot for some reviews 😀

No.. don't do it

Worryaboutwork · 08/06/2023 22:31

I don't understand it but they're all mad for them at my sons school so ofc we have in! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Worryaboutwork · 08/06/2023 22:31

*gave

toomanyleggings · 08/06/2023 22:31

It’s the new fad. They’re all pestering for them. My 9 year old wants one. I’m resisting

napody · 08/06/2023 22:32

I'm (possibly) irrationally furious about them! Training children's brains that they can't drink water unless they're sniffing chemicals at the same time?! Reckon it's essentially vaping for primary school kids!

Patchworksack · 08/06/2023 22:32

No. We gave in and bought DS one for Christmas. He puts squash in it 🤦‍♀️

whatevernextplz · 08/06/2023 22:33

But do they work? Does the water actually taste of lavender lemonade or whatever the feck flavours they come in lol I can't cope with the pestering I'm getting from
Them both lol

They do smell nice. So I guess better than sugary drinks if that's an issue. My niece who is 7 has one as a status symbol in her class 😂

They do work. They are ridiculous though! Although i'm sure our parents thought the same about the things we nagged them about too.

Gymmum82 · 08/06/2023 22:34

They are £40 for a start. Which is ridiculous. And no it smells like whatever it is but still tastes like water. And the cartridges are about £7 odd and need replacing every 5 seconds. Total rip off

mummasg · 08/06/2023 22:36

We gave in and got our 9 year old one for Christmas as his friends had them.. he loves it, personally it reminds me of drinking water out of a bottle that's previously had squash or juice in and not been washed out 🤢

Oanyerselhen · 08/06/2023 22:36

They're weirdly designed, they're not leak proof. I thought that that was a piss take for the best part of 40 quid.

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 08/06/2023 22:45

My 11 year old has one. She loves it. Faves are the orangeade and mixed berries.

SourDoughToast · 08/06/2023 22:46

DS is on his 3rd one since Xmas as they keep getting leaks around the top.

Waste of money in my view but DS loves his ( he buys them with present and pocket money)

Ozgirl75 · 08/06/2023 23:03

I initially resisted and then I remembered that my parents never bought into any fads at school and I would look longingly at Lolo balls and other delights and thought “fuck it, it’s a water bottle” so bought him one and he was very happy. Ours doesn’t leak and the “scent” seems to last about 3-4 weeks. He still drinks normal water at home so it’s not like he’s learning to only like “flavoured” water.

strawberryandcreams · 08/06/2023 23:04

Bought as a present for kids after an amazing parents evening. Got 20% off. Rip off. But my kids still love theirs. Not worthy the cost. At all.

SauceForTheGoose · 08/06/2023 23:05

I am resisting this. DD likes water and I'd rather give her squash than air freshener water if it came to it.

You should see the mould risk of that ring that sits there uncleaned for a week. So unhygienic

Highflow · 08/06/2023 23:07

My children have got them, they love them, and to be fair, they do ‘taste’ of the flavours.
The only reason I don't like them is the noise they make when you suck, a really noisy slurpy sound. I emailed the manufacturer that I think ours are faulty because of the noise, but got an email back to say no, that’s how they work.

I take it apart and wash it every day

That’s great, the people I know just refil it each day and wash it never as “it’s just water” fucking gross.

AtrociousCircumstance · 08/06/2023 23:13

I read somewhere they get mouldy because they are hard to properly clean, and some kids have got sick.

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 09/06/2023 08:32

I've got a set of teeny bottle brushes for the straw and spout. You can buy replacement parts if you are worried about it and not replace the whole thing.
