Just watched Holly’s ‘speech’

Just watched it on YouTube.

Well it was very clear that it was scripted by ITV, but what on earth were they thinking?

Would it not have been better for them to just say nothing on Monday’s episode?

I thought that it was so cringey that it actually made me laugh out loud. It was so melodramatic and OTT, you would think someone had died!

And referring to Phil as they/their etc was just dire. Did they forget he has a name??

FFS. To add to the many, many other threads on the same subject. These people need their own topic at the moment so I can hide it all. OP there are numerous threads on this.

Why did you want your own thread? (Makes you sound like a petulant six year old by the way). There is no new perspective in your post so really no reason not to just add to the eleventy billion other threads. At least those not interested will already have those threads hidden

Yes I agree that it was an awful speech - dramatic and ridiculous really. However, I think whatever had happened people would have complained. They could hardly ignore it given all the press coverage. They had to treat it fairly seriously given the nature of what happened and the fact PS said he's suicidal (and I read on MN that the young man is in a psychiatric hospital. Don't know if it's true.)

Of course you can start your own thread op, but several days on from this infamous speech, you will likely find that it has been discussed already and that people don’t want to join another thread on the same topic

I've never watched this morning and have no strong feelings either way about Holly. But I saw the clip online and I cannot imagine who thought "are you ok?" was a good thing to say. It was so weird. Why would the viewers not be ok. A presenter resigned because he was a creep, no one died.

Are ITV/This Morning not aware that there’s currently a cost of living crisis and maybe a fallout amongst cast members on the show is not something that people are worried about or care about?

I'd almost prefer to have a cup of tea and a bun with Saddo Phil and Get Me Distanced From Him Holly than with the self-appointed Queens of The Mumsnet Threads.

Like not just 'hi guys hope you are well!' It was like 'are you all OK after all these revelations about PHIL?' Like peoples lives have been affected by it LOL. It was a terrible speech and very self indulgent of her/itv.

We are all fine.

ITV however.... they have a lot of questions to answer and not just about PS by the looks of it.

When I saw it I thought what the hell!? Who does Holly think she is that she has to ask everyone how they are in a rhetorical way, like she has the power to make people feel better because they're going to be soooo upset by a presenter no longer being on the tv...?
This morning is presented by numerous people anyway! I think this in itself proves why they are so stuck up their own arses, because the producers of the show completely encourage that behaviour.

I really have no idea why Holly was like “ok let’s take a deep breath” at the very start.

and then her and Josie holding hands/hugging. It was over bearing tbh.

It reminded me of a very dramatic friend I had. We had a minor disagreement over something trivial and she went round telling everybody about it /
exaggerating what really happened and posting on Facebook about it, to make it look like I was a really awful, terrible person.

She then got loads of “support” from people for how terribly she had been “treated” 🙄

The posters vetting other peoples right to post are making me laugh.

PS and HW reigned over This Morning for a longtime and now it's finished. The 'speech' was so false. But they seem false, both of them. I hope PS recovers, it's sad he's feeling suicidal.
Other than that I don't really care if they do or don't present the show. The show will go on...

Yep that’s how I feel.

I honestly don’t watch this morning as I work full time but I would occasionally watch it if I’m on annual leave and the TV happens to be on ITV whilst it’s on.

I think Alison and Dermot are good at presenting it
