To see arctic monkeys and can tell me roughly what time Hives started and AM finished? I know I could google it but I don't want to spoil what songs they do!

I've been keeping an eye on set list FM as I'm going this week, The Hives have generally been doing 7.35 - 8.15 ish then AM 8.55 - 10.20 ish Smile.

I'm going on Friday, not looking forward to trying to get a tram afterwards!!

PennyPitstop35 · 04/06/2023 22:05

I'm going on Friday too. DD's first concert! We've booked parking at the College just behind Owlerton Stadium as we're travelling from Leeds and didn't want to battle park and ride tram madness. Can't wait!!!

LittleFreakJezebel · 04/06/2023 22:14

We are also heading down from Leeds and DP offered to book at hotel so we could both have a drink, except we didn't realise how far Hillsborough is from the city centre 🤦🏼‍♀️. We saw Peter Kay at the arena in feb and the trams were really well managed afterwards so hoping it's the same again, also not remotely bothered about being near the front so just going to try and make a mad dash for it! I'm so bloody excited so I'm just trying not to worry about the trams and deal with it when we get to it...

LittleFreakJezebel · 04/06/2023 22:14

Also what an amazing first concert for your lucky DD Smile

PennyPitstop35 · 04/06/2023 22:18

We're going to set off after school, so around 4pm. Hoping traffic won't be too bad but it will be Friday rush hour! I'm hoping we can go somewhere for food first and get there while The Hives are on (although I'd like to see them!) but not sure if we will have enough time??

Even if the trams are packed I think you'll be fine! Everyone will be buzzing so it will be good fun even if you have to hang around a bit Smile

LittleFreakJezebel · 04/06/2023 22:21

Yes I'm panicking about timing too, we can only leave at 3.30 but obviously need to get into the city centre, checked in and back out to Hillsborough, I think we are going to end up with a McDonald's for tea! Really hoping we can get in for 7 as apparently The Hives have been amazing.

There's a McDonald's and a KFC near the park. See you in there Grin

FredaFox · 04/06/2023 22:30

I went yesterday, they came on at 850 till just before 1030
Didn't bother watching any support but the timings were in the evening news, see attached

I was there on Friday. We got there at 6pm and got near the front (not the very front as that was wristbands). Hives on about 7 I think. Hopefully he won't re-enact Friday and split his head open with the mic! You are in for a massive treat. Took DD (aged 13) and 2 of her friends. It was a bit mental, definitely put them off drugs and alcohol for a few years( a few of casualties being dragged out) Lots of moshing but good natured. The Arctic monkeys were mint though and The Hives were fun. The girls buzzed the whole way home.

Tsuipen · 04/06/2023 22:36

I’ll be there Friday with my family. It’s my DD’s first gig too.
If you’re parking at the college you’ll have a bit of a walk to the entrance as they’re only letting VIPs in from Penistone Rd.
Trams will probably be a bit later than after a gig at the arena as at Hillsborough they run on the road so they’ll have to wait for the roads to clear of people before allowing the trams to run. I’d not rush out for a tram at the end.
Also be prepared for Penistone Road only running lanes to the South for a while, again because of people leaving and being on the roads.

Sounds amazing! I bet they had a fab time. We'll be staying nearer the back as I can imagine the first night in Sheffield will be extra wild!

Hopefully she will be so excited she won't mind walking. I didn't think it would be too far but didn't realise about the entrances. Do you know where the general admission entrance will be?

LittleFreakJezebel · 04/06/2023 22:40

If you have print at home tickets off Ticketmaster then ours have a map on them showing entrances etc

Oh great thank you! I've not printed them yet so will have a look.

Tsuipen · 06/06/2023 20:26

@PennyPitstop35 It’s not a long walk at all- it will just be a bit busy.

LittleFreakJezebel · 07/06/2023 09:49

@Tsuipen I'm after some more local advice if you don't mind!
DP has just had an email from the hotel we are staying in advising he can cancel for free before 4pm tomorrow (he thought it was actually non-refundable when he booked) so we are now considering cancelling it and just driving in instead. Our reasons being we can't leave Leeds until later than we had originally hoped and this would cut out the faff of heading into the city centre first, but also because we stupidly didn't realise how tricky it might be heading back into the city centre after the gig. Obviously the roads will be bad after too and it's finding somewhere to park as well, but which would you honestly think is best? DP has annoyingly said he's happy either way and it's my choice but without ever being to the area it's hard to decide which is best?! I was looking forward to a night away but not sure if it's worth the hassle now?
