To see arctic monkeys and can tell me roughly what time Hives started and AM finished? I know I could google it but I don't want to spoil what songs they do!

@PennyPitstop35 It’s not a long walk at all- it will just be a bit busy.

Thank you! I didn't think it would be that long distance-wise. I've been to Owlerton a few times but never really registered about the park being there, but it doesn't look to far on Google maps.

@Tsuipen I'm after some more local advice if you don't mind!
DP has just had an email from the hotel we are staying in advising he can cancel for free before 4pm tomorrow (he thought it was actually non-refundable when he booked) so we are now considering cancelling it and just driving in instead. Our reasons being we can't leave Leeds until later than we had originally hoped and this would cut out the faff of heading into the city centre first, but also because we stupidly didn't realise how tricky it might be heading back into the city centre after the gig. Obviously the roads will be bad after too and it's finding somewhere to park as well, but which would you honestly think is best? DP has annoyingly said he's happy either way and it's my choice but without ever being to the area it's hard to decide which is best?! I was looking forward to a night away but not sure if it's worth the hassle now?

Have you checked if there's any parking left? We booked via the one recommended on the tickets - I think it's literally arcticmonkeysparking.com

LittleFreakJezebel · 07/06/2023 11:45

@PennyPitstop35 no I hadn't! I assumed it would be fully booked but actually there is still spaces at the two places further out, I don't mind a bit of a walk so Parkwood academy would be a good option actually... the only other thing stopping me cancelling the hotel is we had booked to go to Hathersage swimming pool on Saturday as we will be near-ish which we wouldn't bother with if we ended up driving and I'm not sure I'll get a refund for that. Although then again we'll be saving the hotel money! There's too many pros and cons for me to decide Grin

@PennyPitstop35 Here’s the info about trans which might help you make a decision. https://www.stagecoachbus.com/news/yorkshire/2023/june/arctic-monkeys-travel-advice-and-information The trams are used to getting lots of people transported away from Hillsborough as the football stadium is just next door to the park.

It’s about 3k into the city centre from Hillsborough Park so it is walkable but it’s along a pretty dreary dual carriageway so nothing much to see on the way.

If you’re thinking of parking at Parkwood Academy just be aware that it’s all uphill on the way back and won’t be the nicest of walks.

Obviously that should say trams not trans 🤣

@LittleFreakJezebel I think the above was meant to have you tagged Grin

LittleFreakJezebel · 08/06/2023 07:39

Oh that's link is so helpful thanks! I'm not normally this useless but I've two professional exams this week and very stressed, I think my brain is so full of exam stuff the common sense part of (e.g. thinking to google that) has completely switched off Grin.
I think we are going to stick with staying at the hotel and just see where we end up afterwards...
