What's a decent box of chocolates?

What's a nice but not OTT box of chocolates these days?

A colleague very kindly lent me a very expensive DIY tool for a couple of days, and I want to get them a little something to say thanks. They don't drink, but have a sweet tooth.

Prestat or Charbonnel et Walker are the good chocolates I would do for. The6 have nice boxes also and make a lovely present

NigellaAwesome · 01/06/2023 21:05

I really like the M&S Swiss truffles. London shaped chocs but much smoother. Massive box for about £8.50.

I think Thorntons are too sweet, Lily O'Brien are horrible.

Leonidas (get them online from Chocolate Express)

Waitrose normally sell a Butler’s box, which are good.

Houseplantmad · 01/06/2023 21:07

Leonidas. They’re our Christmas treat - so good!

Starfruity · 01/06/2023 21:14

Forgot about M&S chocolates, the truffles are really nice. Thanks for the suggestion!

Also god yes @NigellaAwesome, I got a a box of Lily O'Brien chocolates for my birthday last year and they were awful!

I love Bouja Bouja. They're vegan I think, but that's not why I like them. They're just really nice. I like the champagne ones

I like hotel chocolat

Monty Bojangles are really nice - not overly pricey but taste lovely. You could also consider some multipacks of their favourite chocolate bars, if you know what they like.

Love hotel Chocolat, especially if I can find a 10% off your order thing.

Otherwise I do really like the m and s chocolate truffles, or Monty bojangles.

BeaverLeader · 01/06/2023 22:29

Any and all things from www.divinechocolate.com/shop/all-chocolate Divine chocolate. It's fair trade and ethical, and so, so nice! 😂

yumscrumfatbum · 01/06/2023 22:32

I was given a box of chocolates last week. They were Sainsburys Extra special or some similar title. They were very very nice!

Starfruity · 01/06/2023 22:37

@BeaverLeader I used to buy Divine all the time, loved it, but it seems to have disappeared from the shops?! I thought it's basically been replaced by Tony's.

I liked lily obrien! Lovely crisp shell.

What don't you like about them? Just educating myself!

Starfruity · 03/06/2023 02:40

I thought they were sickly sweet and synthetic, but with no discernable flavours really @pickledandpuzzled. They all tasted very similar and reminded me a bit of that generic advent calendar chocolate. I think I tend to like my chocolate more rich, and sort of bitter. (I'm a fan of dark).

Second this. Monty never goes wrong.
