Rubbish title but hopefully you know what I mean.

For me, those who spring to mind are:
Sir David Attenborough
Tom Hanks
Usain Bolt
Judy Dench

I agree about Harry Styles. My brain just wouldn’t be able to comprehend it.

Agree. He's the very epitome of "boy next door"

No one I love more that James O’Brian

I would be gutted

Me too!

MrsSkylerWhite · 31/05/2023 09:49

Jason Mamoa
Steve Buscemi. Lots of people who’ve worked with him say he’s the nicest man.
Joanna Lumley
Roger Allam
Conleth Hill

Nelson Mandela

Oh yes, lovely apart from all the necklacing of course!

stayathomer · 31/05/2023 09:56

Ed Sheeran (watching his documentary and he seems so normal l!)

CoralBells · 31/05/2023 09:57

Sandi toksvig, but it'll never happen

IVbumble · 31/05/2023 09:59

Mr Tumbles. :(

I worked in theatre and education tv for a few years; and con confirm David W is not a nice character. Neither is Justin fletcher, but not for the same reasons.
Mr Maker is lovely though, as is Don of Dick and Dom fame.
Sarah Millican can seem a bit grumpy
but she’s absolutely lovely and we used to think she was anxious about being her very best.

Hugh Jackman would be one I’d be shocked by.

Would love to know the reason ,as he's always struck me as potential wrong 'un.

Mochudubh · 31/05/2023 10:01

Derek Griffiths
Johnny Ball
Floella (Basically anyone from Play School).
Brian Blessed
Michael Palin

Dullardmullard · 31/05/2023 10:02

David Attenborough is a creepy fukker I saw that interview he did and the lass was in her 20s and he was in his 80s 🤢 🤢

I can’t think of anyone sadly as I’m jaded by it all as I was bloody gutted over Rolf Harris

newnamethanks · 31/05/2023 10:05

Derek Griffiths? Sorry, wrong.

I worked in a bookshop when I was a student and Charlie Watts was browsing at a table ( dressed smartly in a suit). We often got famous people in due to the location and some were less than polite and most expected special attention. We were behind the cash desk and saw him approached by two customers asking if he was the manager. He smiled politely said he was sorry but he didn’t work there. He helped one of them by directing her to the right section. Just a snippet but he came across as really without ego.
We used to laugh about it later, changing the reply “ No, “I’m not the manager. I’m a Rolling Stone.” It’s the kind of response they would have had from most. Actually they would have probably just got an icy glare.

Lovely story. I particularly like that he was smartly suited; just what you'd expect from Charlie Watts Smile

Google Kiran Millwood Hargrave and Walliams. It will bring up some interesting tweets!

Castleintheclouds · 31/05/2023 10:17

I hold Bill Bailey, JK Rowling, Dylan Moran, Terry Pratchett, Jo Brand and Hugh Laurie in high regard and would be upset if anything to come out about them scandal wise.

newnamethanks · 31/05/2023 10:18

Yes Charlie Watts, how could I have missed him out? I loved his workmanlike approach to performing with the Stones. I half expected him to stop halfway through for a break and unpack and eat a sandwich he'd brought from home. In a documentary about him, he revealed how a mega star like him spent their evenings on tour. He drew every hotel room that he stayed in. That's it.

Jayneisagirlsname · 30/05/2023 22:36

See this one wouldn't surprise me at all, he's given me the creeps since I was little. Sorry!

From what I’ve heard, your instincts are spot on.
He keeps a very low profile, doesn’t he, for a supposed National Treasure?

<Sidles off>

TheFleetFoxes · 31/05/2023 10:26

@Jayneisagirlsname that was in response to your reply about Rodney’s older brother.

Lots of good ones on here.

I'd have to agree with

Joanna Lumley
Sir David Jason
Rowan Atkinson

Also for me

Ben Shepherd
Stephen Mulhern
Andy Peters

Andi Peters is a sarcastic diva (had to do something with him for work, he's a twerp)

Yes that was on Graham Norton. It was very uncomfortable to watch.
Also, a lovely columnist in the Sunday Times had an 'interesting' interview with him about 20 years ago.

WestwardHo1 · 31/05/2023 10:27

Andy Murray. He seems like such a thoroughly decent man. Judy and Jamie too.

Dave Grohl
Julie Walters
David Attenborough obviously
Sir Trevor McDonald
Sophie Raworth
Jennifer Saunders
Brian May
Michael Palin

I think lots of people have said these names.

I never, ever want to meet Bruce Springsteen as he’s been a hero of mine since childhood and it would be life changing to discover he is actually unpleasant!

Tbf celebrities are human and have off days like everyone else but it seems they are never allowed to be ‘grumpy’. It must be draining to have to put your game face on all the time. I was in a bar once and saw Daniel Radcliffe trying to have a quiet drink with a friend. The number of people who approached him demanding a photo and autograph was ridiculous. I would have completely lost it after the 3rd or 4th request. I guess that’s the price of fame.

Derren Brown talks in one of his books about how he was inadvertently very mildly rude to a member of the public once (like forgetting to thank them for holding a door open mildly rude) and realised afterwards that that would be that person’s enduring opinion of him - “I met Derren Brown once and he was a bit of a knob, didn’t even thank me for holding a door open”. Ever since he’s made a determined effort to make sure he every interaction he has with the public is really positive and he never has an “off” day (or even an off moment). It must be exhausting, but he’s right: what someone sees of him in a single moment is what they remember for ever, whether that’s what he’s usually like or not.

(If he were a wrong ‘un I’d be very very disappointed indeed…)

carduelis · 31/05/2023 10:34

Also definitely Brian May. He’s just so terribly earnest!

blobby10 · 31/05/2023 08:46

Another one who would be horrified to hear that Dermot O'Leary or Matt baker were unpleasant

I'm going to join the name droppers, and say that I've worked with Matt Baker: he really was as nice as he seems on the TV. Obviously I don't know that for sure, but I'd be astounded if he was a wrong un. Wildlife and countryside presenters tend to be very nice.

As someone who has met him through my disabled child I can sadly confirm he’s absolutely vile off camera.
a real stuck up arsehole
