Trying to find the holy grail! (Holidays)

Serena1977 · 30/05/2023 17:23

I need to find a holiday but can't find what I am looking for so I thought I would ask all you knowledgeable folk.

Budget £2000 for 2 adults and 2 dc, 11 and 10 years.

£200 budget for food on top. (which is what we spend in UK for 1 week.)

1 week

UK or eurozone using any mode of transport

Any type of accommodation except tent/narrowboat

lovely pool and nearby beach, 25-30 degrees,

quiet location (no brits abroad type)

don't need luxury just a place to sleep etc but and this seems to be the sticking problem, it has to have good cooking facilities and good local shop. We don't eat out due to 1 dc having issues so we need cooking rings, oven, toaster and fridge for things like nuggets, spag bol, pizza, beans on toast, salad and chicken, oven chips, pasta, lasagne, fish fingers etc

I hope you can help with your ideas or is this impossible??

Love these threads. Please be travel agents for us and do all my research for me cos I couldn't be arsed

Supernova23 · 30/05/2023 17:30

Anywhere in Spain. Budget might be cutting it though. Flights even to most places in Europe can be £200-250 each with even the budget airlines in August. So could be 1k for flights alone. £200 for food will also be pushing it, the pound is poor against the Euro.

Try Cadiz/Costa de la Luz. Less Brits than Costa del Sol and not so hot as you are at the Atlantic side.

We flew to Gibralta and drove but you could try Seville.

The problem will be flight prices and also car hire, the latter one went through the roof the last two years.

If you are ok with less warm weather, Netherlands or Germany?

Travelling from where? Belfast? Aberdeen? London?

Serena1977 · 30/05/2023 17:47

Was just looking for unconventional ideas i might not have considered, rather than goggling jet2. So sorry to have offended you @Gingergirl70

thanks @Supernova23 and @reluctantbrit

No need for anyone else to reply.

Have a look at Center Parcs in Belgium or the Netherlands

Speckson · 30/05/2023 17:49

UK option

I may as well recommend a local business! This is a small and quiet site, on the edge of town (about a mile from Swanage beach) and close to lovely countryside and a bit further on is the wonderful beach at Studland. https://www.ulwellholidaypark.co.uk/stay/holiday-homes/

Caravan Holiday Homes to Hire in Swanage | Static Caravans to let

Modern and well equipped caravan holiday homes for hire in Swanage. Fantastic location and access to Ulwell Holiday parks on site facilities.

PinkFootstool · 30/05/2023 17:50

Turkey (Dalaman area), SC from Gatwick around 23rd August for about £1830.

Plenty on the TUI website that might suit you.

mauveiscurious · 30/05/2023 17:51

Northumberland

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 30/05/2023 17:53

Maybe re post in holidays? Fewer rude people there, and more people who like a bit of vicarious holiday planning for fun.

Have you looked at separate flights and AirBnBs? Where will you travel from? Will you hire a car? Presume you’re looking at summer holidays?

MrsWhites · 30/05/2023 17:57

Eurocamp in Northern France. La croix du vieux pont is less than 3 hours from Calais, in a quiet part of France within reach of Paris (the camp runs coach trips), first week in august is just under £1500. Static caravan with cooking facilities, lakeside beach, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, lake activities and activities like trampoline/climbing etc all reasonably priced.

It can get a little lively in the beach bar at night but you can just stay away if that’s not your thing.

There are lots of other quieter parks too but obviously they usually have less facilities.

We’ve been a few times, my kids loved it!

ggccsseeeee · 30/05/2023 18:06

Look at the Les Castels website.

justawee · 30/05/2023 18:17

What about Malaga
BA have cheap flights from 27/8 returning 3/9 ( £523 total no checked bag but generous hand luggage allowance, it is a late flight back though) return depends when your Dc are due back at school
Apartment £561

Also could drive or take alternative transport to somewhere like Nerja down the coast

PamTheExam · 30/05/2023 18:24

I'd avoid Spain and opt for a Greek island. Kefalonia probably nicest and reasonably priced, plenty of self catering and supermarkets and some pretty beaches and you can take a lovely boat trip to Ithaca. Yes is can be a bit busy but it's hilly so our SC apartment was up a hill away from the passing noise like many apartments with tranquil pool. We could get the bus to quieter beaches too easily enough.

TheMousePipes · 30/05/2023 18:31

Ferry plus a mobile home? If you go at the end of August then the prices on the French sites drop massively as the French have all gone home from their holidays. Have a look at yelloh! villages. You could also try Huttopia, they have some interesting lodges/ caravans etc.

justawee · 30/05/2023 18:33

Also I used to find if you went end of Aug we would book direct with a French site for the best price😁

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 30/05/2023 18:47

We're going to a Dutch Eurocamp site the last few days of Aug/early Sept. It's considerably cheaper than earlier in Aug. My dc don't go back to school until 7 Sept.

GetUpStandUp4 · 30/05/2023 18:55

beekse bergen safari park at the Netherlands 9-14 August. should be around 2k for accommodation including attractions pass if you get eurotunnel and drive

twistyizzy · 30/05/2023 19:09

Any self catering cottage in the UK would offer what you need. Just chose a preferred location and then search?
