Trying to find the holy grail! (Holidays)

I need to find a holiday but can't find what I am looking for so I thought I would ask all you knowledgeable folk.

Budget £2000 for 2 adults and 2 dc, 11 and 10 years.

£200 budget for food on top. (which is what we spend in UK for 1 week.)

1 week

UK or eurozone using any mode of transport

Any type of accommodation except tent/narrowboat

lovely pool and nearby beach, 25-30 degrees,

quiet location (no brits abroad type)

don't need luxury just a place to sleep etc but and this seems to be the sticking problem, it has to have good cooking facilities and good local shop. We don't eat out due to 1 dc having issues so we need cooking rings, oven, toaster and fridge for things like nuggets, spag bol, pizza, beans on toast, salad and chicken, oven chips, pasta, lasagne, fish fingers etc

I hope you can help with your ideas or is this impossible??

Thank you all for ideas that are different than the ideas i came up with.

we've gone for @MrsWhites idea. Thank you @MrsWhites . So if you have anymore info about the place, please let me know.

£1619 for 1 week inc towel pack and ferry crossings.

Feeling happy!

Any self catering cottage in the UK would offer what you need. Just chose a preferred location and then search?

Not the 25-30 degree weather request though!

I'd try for Eurocamp in France. All different types of accommodation - I know you don't want a tent but the safari tents are pretty cool.

Brilliant, glad I could help. Is there anything in particular you want to know?

Thank you @MrsWhites

Did your children play with other children or do families keep themselves to themselves?

Were there people from other countries? Hoping they'll be a good mix of Europeans even if the language is tricky.

Wondering about how far local supermarkets are and whether they are comparable with UK shops? We'll be self catering because of issues with one dc.

What did a typical day look like for you?

Weather?

£200 for food for four people is really pushing it unless you intend to do all your eating in the apartment?

Yes, my eldest was 8,10,12 when we went, she played on football and basketball courts every day/evening with other children, mostly from other European countries, felt very safe, just made she she knew the way to and from our caravan. It’s quite a big site so can depend how far away your vans are. Eurocamp has an annexe on this site across a road but there is an underpass to get there safely enough and that part of site actually has larger plots so a nice place for kids to play outside your own caravan.

We spent a lot of our time in the beach/lake or pool, had a few days out and hired canoes etc for on the lake. The beach bar sells activity cards for all the activities like canoeing, trampolining etc which makes everything cheaper - something like €20 card has €30 value type of thing so definitely worth getting one of these. The tower persuits area also has other activities, like a climbing wall etc and they do fun things like nerf wars one evening.

Beach bar does get quite busy and noisy of an evening but they usually have a beach/pool party one night a week which my kids really enjoyed.

Weather - we’ve always gone in august, have had a bit of rain but mostly nice and one year was 30 degrees all week.

Food shopping - there is a shop on site and a supermarket walking distance in the village but it’s expensive, we usually go to Cora in Soissons which is about 15-20 min away, there is an Aldi too in Soissons, and they do a market I think on Wednesdays which is nice to go to. Chicken is super expensive and sausages and burgers are not the same texture as Uk so if you kids are fussy that can be a pain - we usually go to Tesco in Dover and pack a cooler bag with ice, we buy stuff like bacon, sausage and burgers for the kids, always still been cold on arrival. Eurocamp provide a BBQ so we use that most nights. Wine is super cheap in France though! 😂

Days out - the park runs trips to Paris I think for €30 per person or you can drive to Compiege which is close by and get the train which is much cheaper.
Pierrefonds castle is less than half an hour away and is brilliant, it’s the castle where the BBC filmed Merlin a few years ago, it’s in a nice little village with a boating lake and has a lovely patisserie and ice cream parlour too.
Compiege is a nice town for a wander and has lots of war related places to visit with a museum.
Obviously Disneyland paris is only an hour away but it’s expensive. Park Asterix is a good alternative if you like theme parks, it’s about 50 min away from site and is much cheaper than Disney.

Hope this helps - let me know if you want to know anything else x

I’m not sure, I’ve never tried to do any laundry so I couldn’t say.
