How often do you go on holiday as a family?

When you say family do you mean extended family? We've got into a routine of 1 per year with my side of the family (mum, dad, brother etc) mainly because we don't live nearby so it's nice quality time for us all, then around 3 trips just the three of us (myself, DH & DD) one of which is usually a city break.

Mumof1andacat · 27/05/2023 21:06

Never with extended family. Don't really have any. As an immediate family (me,dh and ds) once or twice a year.

jackstini · 27/05/2023 21:10

The four of us, about 3 times a year

Oopsididitagaintomorrow · 27/05/2023 21:16

About 3 times a year, once with DH's parents and twice with our children

transformandriseup · 27/05/2023 21:32

This year, two holidays, both in the UK. There was going to be 3 but we cancelled one to save money. Next year we are going abroad so maybe just the one but will probably fit in another UK break somewhere,

Fluffycarrotss · 27/05/2023 21:37

i class holidays as weekends away too. 😎

Not since 2017.

Ginger1982 · 27/05/2023 21:43

Roughly twice a year, Easter and summer.

YomAsalYomBasal · 27/05/2023 21:45

Never. I have a child whose special needs make it too difficult to either take them or get someone else to look after them.

UsingChangeofName · 27/05/2023 22:20

Everyone that lives in the house ? Once a year

Extended family ? Never

Some parts of the house family ? Including weekends, 6 - 8 (partly through some members of the family doing the same hobby)

peachesandsweets · 27/05/2023 22:25

Pre DC (and covid) we used to do one big big trip a year - and then maybe 2 smaller ones.

Now, we have no money ha - so we have done one UK staycation a year since DC was born!

PickAChew · 27/05/2023 22:25

Never.

NewNovember · 27/05/2023 22:26

5 separate weeks a year plus 3/4 weekends. I love holidays and prioritise them over "stuff". Only the immediate family though.

ToBMarried24 · 27/05/2023 22:27

Family that I live with …. Including weekends away so far this year is 3. We have another 3 booked. 1 of those is abroad for a fortnight.

with extended family = never.

next year so far we have Disneyland Paris booked and we will be doing our honeymoon too. We will probably book a weekend away in the UK too at some point.

Crikeyalmighty · 27/05/2023 22:27

Usually 3 times a year - (1 main one and a couple of 4/5 day ones) plus a couple of weekends

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 27/05/2023 22:31

Once a year we go abroad for a couple of weeks.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 27/05/2023 22:32

With my family unit 4 or 5 times a year. With extended family hardly ever. We have done a night or two once a decade or less with extended family.

Fluffycarrotss · 27/05/2023 23:07

i mean uk hols too and not just abroad. Ours varies each year really.

I aim to go visit family in US once a year, but in reality it’s more like once every 2-3 years, and that is it. Husband takes kids to visit his dad for an overnight (one hour away) a handful of times a year, but not sure that counts as vacation?

we live in a beautiful part of the uk, so generally happy to stay at home and make the most of where we live. I would like to start doing more uk holidays as the kids get older, but with young children I don’t feel like the benefit is worth the expense.

yertiul · 27/05/2023 23:22

About 4 times a year. Have our eldest in reception and am just adjusting to starting an annual cycle of holidays which fit into term times (she used to be in a 48 week nursery). But have roughly been doing: one trip to US to see family, one 10-14 day trip overseas, one UK theme park break, one other UK break. All just our household, we've done some holidays with parents/siblings but they don't really like the same holidays we like, so we don't plan on doing any more with them.

MinnieMountain · 28/05/2023 06:04

3-5 weeks a year depending on what’s going on.
We tend not to do weekends as a family.

CeeJay81 · 28/05/2023 06:18

One a year just the 4 of us. Then a 2nd time we might go and stay near a family member(they havent got the room to put all 4 of us up), so we book a few days accommodation and count that as a holiday too. We've also had a couple of Haven holidays with extended family but the kids prefer it just us.

Daffodilwoman · 28/05/2023 06:22

Classing weekends away- 4 booked for this year. I’m currently ‘away’ from home although I don’t class overnights as holidays. Already had a weekend away earlier this year.
Extended family- no- only immediate family.

Rampantukulele · 28/05/2023 06:34

We go and stay with the inlaws (UK) once a year for a week.

MadEyeMoodysEye · 28/05/2023 06:42

Neither of our extended families is local (but both live in nice holiday destinations) so we stay with them 2 or 3 weekends a year each.
2x 1-2 week holidays
2-3 other weekends away

So about 10 times altogether, but we don't typically spend a lot - if we aren't staying with family then we camp more often than not.

We haven't been abroad since 2019 though, Covid restrictions were swiftly followed by ill health for me. We're hoping to get abroad later this year or early next.
