Is there such thing as a blanket that keeps you cool?

I went into a bed shop recently and they had a cold pillow which was bliss.

But what I'd really like is a cold blanket.

I absolutely hate being hot in bed and can only fall asleep fast in the winter with absolutely no heating in my bedroom.

Summer sucks.

Is there such thing as a cold blanket? I've searched for the last couple of summers but not really trusting what comes up.

Any experiences here?

During the heat wave last year I bought one of those pet cooling mats and put it under my bed sheet. Bliss!

I tried those.

Bloody awful things, it soon takes your heat and throws that back at you. I ended up in an awful sweaty mess!
I don't know why people like them.
They are bliss for the first hour. Then horrific!

If I type that in, loads of stuff comes up.

What kind of cool duvet did you get him? Where from?

Thanks ❤️

Yeah I bought one for my daughter in Costco last year, some kind of thin cooling quilt.

Was it this one? Does she like it?

We just have a sheet in the summer which seems to be the best thing when it's super hot!

coxesorangepippin · 27/05/2023 20:30

You can wet a bed sheet and sleep with that

Sounds awful, but works apparently

bloodywhitecat · 27/05/2023 20:37

Following with interest as my little one sleeps in a sleep system and feels the heat, if they aren't supported by the brackets and blocks then they run a real risk of suffocation so I am always looking for ways to keep them cooler at night time.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 27/05/2023 20:41

I sleep under a wet bath sheet towel. I also have a 4.5tog duvet but must admit it still feels hot under the duvet.

I slept on an air bed when it was very hot and that was much cooler than a regular mattress. I also have a weighted blanket, which is stuffed with glass balls. It doesn't heat up like a regular duvet.

Kyse23 · 27/05/2023 21:08

M&S comfortably cool bedding is great

Very true, they're only ok for an hour.

I have thin cotton scarf/ wrap which I run under water then wring out until it's barely damp then hop into bed underneath it. It's amazing how fast it cools you down, it's bliss.

mrsbyers · 27/05/2023 21:12

Pop a cotton sheet in the fridge before you go to bed for an hour

husband has a one tog duvet in his room

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 27/05/2023 21:41

I got an ice blanket from Amazon last year, it worked and wasn’t expensive.(but is a hideous pale blue) My sister bought Airism sheets from Uniqlo a few years back, she says they helped with her menopausal hot spells, but they are expensive and don’t know if they still do them.

twotruthsandalie · 27/05/2023 23:23

ADHDDDDDDDBOOM · 27/05/2023 19:47

Yes, that's the one. Yes, she liked it. I have a feeling we might have washed it in the wrong way and it lost some of its cooling properties. Not seen it in ages I'll have to dig it out.

One of our rescue pets came with a tiny, pet size version of the exact same thing so it's obviously a recognised thing (bloody useless for the rabbit it came with, though, since they dig any kind of blanket to buggery).

milkydress · 27/05/2023 23:32

Following this! I am dreading the summer

BagLadyHere · 27/05/2023 23:39

I take frozen things to bed ie a bottle of water or cooler thing feom picnic basket.

justasking111 · 27/05/2023 23:54

Cool shower, stay wet and use a sheet which gets nice and damp. Discovered this on holiday when I would swim in the pool before bed

Pixiedust1234 · 28/05/2023 00:34

Placemarking. Im having my fifth hot flush this evening and im struggling.

Flopsythebunny · 28/05/2023 00:37

I got some bamboo cooling blankets and pillowcase from Amazon

Thesharkradar · 28/05/2023 00:45

my fave is a damp cotton table cloth😊
(are the cooling blankets more effective than damp cloth I wonder?☝👀)
