Is there such thing as a blanket that keeps you cool?

I went into a bed shop recently and they had a cold pillow which was bliss.

But what I'd really like is a cold blanket.

I absolutely hate being hot in bed and can only fall asleep fast in the winter with absolutely no heating in my bedroom.

Summer sucks.

Is there such thing as a cold blanket? I've searched for the last couple of summers but not really trusting what comes up.

Any experiences here?

Following with interest. I hate summer, and summer hates me.

HOMFINE Cooling Blanket for Night Sweats Cool Throw Blanket with Japanese Arc-chill Q-max>0.45 Double-sided Cooling Fiber Lightweight Soft Blanket for Summer Absorb Heat and Stay Cool, 130x180cm, Blue amzn.eu/d/8dn2kLi

Lots on Amazon

I can wholeheartedly recommend this one, I bought two last year, one for myself and one for my daughter.

Sleep on top of the covers and drape the cool side over yourself, it's heaven and stays cool! If you get chilly, flip it over! We love them!

You can get a water bed (remember those!), you can change the temperature warm or cool

Yep, I've got one of these. It's really good but it does warm up as the night goes on. Saying that, I have woken up in the middle of the night absolutely freezing, having to kick it off and get back under the duvet, but maybe that's because of the time of year. It might be perfect when it gets 'hot' hot. If that makes sense.

You can wet a bed sheet and sleep with that

Sounds awful, but works apparently

This is what we do, wet sheets.
it does work but it's a massive pain in the arse

Excellent, I will get the Amazon one.

Thanks!

Damp sheet in this house 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Or and AC Unit which the kids have in their room, it’s like a fridge!

I wouldn't wet a sheet but happy to get into bed wrapped in a sheet after a cool not cold shower.

Maybe you’re making it too wet? Ours is dry by the morning.

I have a silk pillowcase for my hair and it stays cooler than cotton so maybe a silk sheet?

Seryse · 28/05/2023 13:30

I bought a cooling blanket off amazon, can't sleep without it now thanks to being 38 weeks and having the body temp of a volcano. One thing I do miss is the weight of a duvet, but if you can live without that I highly recommend the blanket.

Daftasabroom · 28/05/2023 13:30

We have a lightweight sheep's wool duvet, never to hot never too cold, marvellous! Not cheap mind.

Daftasabroom · 28/05/2023 13:32

From woolroom AFAIR.

Sheet is too hot still. Anything is but I need something on top. So...I'm lying on top of bed, no sheets etc on top, stark naked, windows wide open for cool breeze and I'm still too hot!! Didnt cool down until 3am last night aarrrggghhhh! And we aren't into summer heat yet.

Will poke DH and see if he'll treat me to that cooling blanket unless there's anything better ? crosses fingers

I used Elegear cooling blanket last summer and it works well. Prepare to buy another one this year to my mum.

Pixiedust1234 · 05/06/2023 18:01

@ADHDDDDDDDBOOM have you tested yet? I've been waiting on your report as to whether I order or not lol. Thanks Smile

Hi yes I'm using it as we speak.

I personally wish I hadn't bought it.
It's cold for a second then it's just the same as anything else.
And most annoyingly and a little TMI, I have really dry skin on my feet (no matter how I treat them) and the skin was catching on the tiny bits of fabric making me feel cringe and a bit sick.
So all in all, 2/10

Why? Some people feel heat more than others
Menopause
Thyroid
Medication
It's been warm here the past week or so

Pixiedust1234 · 06/06/2023 00:08

Oh that's a shame. Thanks for your honest review though as something like that would irritate me too.
