Is 10am too early to mow a lawn at the weekend?

I'm pushed for time and need to get this done otherwise it will have to be left for several weeks as I'll be away. On the other hand, I don't want to disturb my hard-working neighbours at the weekend. What do you think?

Absolutely fine.

canina · 27/05/2023 10:30

I say 9 is fine

Someone's got the angle grinder out here already so I'd say crack on!

Oh blimey, are you my neighbour - DH is angle grinding 🤣

Nameinspirationneeded · 27/05/2023 10:32

Fine and it’s 10.30 so hope you are happy mowing.

JulieHoney · 27/05/2023 10:34

Anything from 9 is fine.

Sartre · 27/05/2023 10:44

I’d say 9am onwards is acceptable for any outdoor noise. I know both sets of neighbours are early risers anyway so never feel too guilty about it. One side also has small children who wake very early like ours and other side have dogs who wake them early for a walk.

TheFlis12345 · 27/05/2023 10:45

I am a right lazy bugger (just woken up!) and even I think 10 is fine!

daffodilandtulip · 27/05/2023 10:46

I wish I had such considerate neighbours. 9am onwards I wouldn't complain. I'm looking at you, 8am power tool tosser.

Augend23 · 27/05/2023 10:47

I think 10am is definitely fine.

Dontcallmescarface · 27/05/2023 10:50

We've got roadworks going on outside our house....if it's ok to use a pneumatic drill at 8.30am then a lawnmower at 10 is fine.

AlanJohnsonsBeemer · 27/05/2023 10:58

8 is rude, 9 is fine, 10 is very kind and considerate

AngelasAirpods · 27/05/2023 11:04

10am is fine but what about No Mow May? Wink

beachcomber70 · 27/05/2023 11:04

Angle grinding here too. Next door has a man in to put in or dismantle old path. The noise is awful, clouds of dust going all over...next door has shouted something and slammed patio doors shut.

10am for lawn mowing is just fine!

VickyInTheVipersNest · 27/05/2023 11:05

Anything from 9 onwards is fine imo

Catchasingmewithspiders · 27/05/2023 11:06

I have terrible insomnia and often use a weekend morning to try to have a lie in and catch up on my sleep. 9am from the neighbours is fine imo and 10am is very kind.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 27/05/2023 11:08

Saturday yes. Sunday no.

that was the local law when we lived in France. It was great.

Findyourneutralspace · 27/05/2023 11:09

I’m a very lazy weekender and often lie in bed all morning, but 10am is fine

ApolloandDaphne · 27/05/2023 12:31

I live next to a golf course. They start mowing around 5am any day of the week. It's surprising how quickly you get used to it. I find it a nice background hum. My DH does ours very early. 10am feels like the middle of the day to me.

Fandabedodgy · 27/05/2023 12:37

10am is generous - I think 9am is ok.

My neighbour was at it at 730am last Sunday which pissed me off.

LubaLuca · 27/05/2023 12:40

9am is the accepted time around these here parts. Usually 9am on the dot we'll hear a motor starting somewhere nearby.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 27/05/2023 12:45

9am onwards is fine

LlynTegid · 27/05/2023 12:59

10am on a Saturday fine, would not do it on Sunday unless it really was the only option.

UsingChangeofName · 27/05/2023 13:51

No, not too early.
I'm a night owl and love a lie on if I don't have to be anywhere else on a Saturday, but even I accept 10am is very reasonable to be mowing the lawn. Smile
In fact, I'd appreciate the fact you waited until then.

daytriptovulcan · 27/05/2023 14:11

Any time from 9am is good, i would have thought.

RuthW · 27/05/2023 14:13

Absolutely fine. 9 is ok
